It’s a shame that during races there is no way of knowing whether a driver has pitted or not.
I use VR and it really is amazing but you do miss out on so much situation awareness with (I’m aware it’s been spoken about b4)
Thats the price we pay for inmersion. Worth it? absolutely yes for me.

Regarding flashing of lights it has become a fashion accessory for a number of trolls 👿 when they discover a ‘new’ button 🤣
Flashing lights is a good tool when is correctly used for example if you are trying to work together with someone.
Sometimes the car ahead takes awkward defensive lines which can slow both cars. A flashing there means "go take the racing line, I wont attack you on this turn"

Very useful at Eau Rouge or the bus stop at Watkins Glen to name a few difficult spots to take side by side

Edit: grammar

I dont think I could ever revert back to non-VR if I'm honest.

Not always a troll. Sometimes it's just a lowly pad user like me, gripping the thing a bit too tight and pushing down on L3 under braking
I rearranged the button, pushing L3 has no function. Do you also have the problem on right turns, that your thumb is pushing the stick into the right upper corner? I am using controller since ever but just noticed that I do this and lose time. I am going to buy a steering wheel, because like this it doesn't make any sense.

@Childe Roland that’s fair but I do think there is a caveat around that, in most of our lobbies we see it all the time, the quick flash to say sorry, the quick flash and drop back to leave space, hazards on for “cheers for the bump draft”

But I don’t think it’s a common experience for the majority in so much it’s either accidental/unaware flashing or frustrated/annoyed flashing.

To your other point you know my feelings on it, I will never go back unless it’s playing Mario kart with my daughter on the TV! VR till I die baby!

It has it's place as a way to regain SR when you lost it in the other races, but that meant that "racing" at the back was beneficial.

With DR on, it's real racing again. It's unfortunate that the group is so mixed with people who can't be careful.

Ya, I think all the time I have spent with low traction cars in the Sophy races has been paying off. I did a 140.178 which puts me at #6 in Canada at the moment :D (yes, I'm gloating)

4 wins so far :gtpflag:

Good going mate and great time, I’m enjoying it that much too! 😁

Only down side for me is having to replicate it with my actual account come Friday night but I think this race is going to see me through the week easily,

Enjoy

Sorry guys, wich infos are available in VR? Ok, no leaderbord, but what else is missing compared to flat screen's view?
There is no:

Driver position list
No track map

We only get the MFD (Fuel, timing, radar, TC and BB)

That’s the only 2 things missing but the things we do have aren’t actually useful in race, the radar being the most useful with fuel second. People probably aren’t switching TC or BB frequently in race and sector timing means losing the radar which I’d imagine isn’t a thing either

There are some more experience lead things that make VR different:

The little sideways taps feel and are more physical both on the wheel and when playing. Remember the car has visual volume rather than just something you can’t see around you in other cams.

Being rear ended or slightly tapped feels very very real in that because the viewpoint is more in the centre of the car is “personal” then there is the lines in VR you take naturally fall in to the way you’d really drive but in other cams you’d magically go tighter/deeper it’s not faster but in those cams it looks like it.

It’s a really complex scenario as we are all doing the same things but the perspective alters the behaviours or appreciation of what’s really going on.

I have been a GT bumper cam user for decades so can understand it, then there is the other side where Tidge doesn’t like the natural but offset position and feels he doesn’t judge the inside right, I on the other hand feel I judge it better for me but I’m not a GT academy driver and also slower (but getting faster!!) so who knows.

But to the question the 2 missing things are the most important especially in a race that requires a pit stop.

Just in case it’s helping anyone,

Following holl01 ghost and using mainly tidgney braking points.

There is time here to be found

@Voodoovaj sent you a friend request from alt account just so I can chase your time, from next week it won’t using it so it’ll not clog up yr leaderboard 😁

@benjoi84 this reminds me of the sardegna radical race
Good times!! I just finished rewatching my top races from that combo too!

I would absolutely vote for Race A to always remain 'ranked'. I think the DR/Off situation creates too many 'gamifying tactics'. That is to say, your previously mentioned SR-clean is one of them. It just doesn't feel like racing, but you have to less obsessed with ranking up to enjoy it. Not many people are that, unfortunately.
