The penalties ( or yhe lack of) is abysmal in race B. Is it always like this now?
The only advise I can give to you is: never stay on the outside of someone you don't/can't trust, especially if the idiot dives let's say at Eau Rouge. If it's the case, back up or die. That's nothing to do against "push to pass" moves other than braking like if there's a cliff in front of you, but it's more a matter of luck surviving to such idiocy.

@Schiaramone Thanks for the tips. I've a Nitro kart rig. It's quite solid compared to those "sun loungers" on the market. It should be fine (hopefully). Sure I'll go Fanatec soon, but with a GT3 wheel like the McLaren's one. Btw, piccolo il Mondo, nevvero?

Davvero piccolo 😁

Just saw this nitro kart rig..and I believe its okay for fanatech. Pretty solid!

If you take with V3 pedals, buy already with the performance kit.

About the SR discussion :

1)I agree they need add penalty for side bumps

2)damage is the key -- if you bump (even a simple touch), your car is damage and you i'll be slower for some seconds or entire races. Dirty drivers will only stop if they get a price for this behavior

3)if someone hit you and you hit another car, its not penalty or sr loss for you.

4)climb SR shoulb be harder than lose it

That’s a really great lap, nice and smooth inputs, I’ll study this later.

I get my own account back later so I’ll try to improve on my 1.40.200

Been a fantastic week racing at sardegna, good few wins, back up to high BS and beating DR A level drivers (sometimes) 😁

Have a good weekends racing when you get there peeps

Great racing at Brands.
And i drove many races against SR B and C. There were always a few geniuses, who figured out, going inside and use the car on the outside as driving aid / break, but over the length and amount of races i didn't bother much. I always started in the top 7 of mixed DrB DrC. My time in the G70❤️ is1.32.283. The Citroën is also a nice ride here and the Supra is faster with no drag than the g70being 0.1sec behind .. I just love races when the grid consists of a variety of brands(car makers) and good spots for overtaking... I didn't like Brands Hatch since an old touring car racing game (nissan primera /silver audi a4 /honda accord), but gt7 made me love it..... Oh, it just came to my mind. I was banned, so i started gt7 with a different account. I was in a Honda Fit (no tuning) and had to race at Brands. Top speed crossing start /finish line 172km/h, in the GR. 4 genesis g70 it's 195kmh. Please make Gr. 4 great again and give them at least some power back.

I kind of solved this diver problem. When I get to top 5 I start to randomly break check anyone coming near me, so they dont dare to come close anymore. 🤷

You see how that contributes to the problem though?

We have to remember that most (not all) contact is from people being clumsy/human couple that with some bad decision making as well sometimes (which gets better with experience)

The number reasons for contact and issues is quite a few but I think they boil down to these main things:

1: Frustration/poor restraint
2: bad decision making (thinking place by place rather the whole race, seeing the racing line as gaps rather than what they are)
3: Consistency and predictability which is both driver behaviour and also online and connections fluctuating
4: in attention
5: malice

So doing unexpected things like brake checking etc means you aren’t predictable so people will treat you as such which then creates these areas of confusion and contact.

And to be honest you’d be the same “man this guy in front is all over the place and braking in weird times, I need to get round him” and then they go for gaps that aren’t on or more robust moves. All because they can’t predict your driving and choose spots to pass more appropriately where they may have an edge over you etc

I didnt expect it to work either, but it seems to work. You do become dog slow with all the brake checking, so it only works if you are already higher in the order. But hey - if you cant beat them, join them..

But yeah - spending a big portion of my GT history in DR A, I cant fathom the massive difference in race craft and sportmanship between DR/SR BS compared to AS. That is why they should make SR S as hard to reach and maintain as DR A. It would give people a change to race clean even if you are not the fastest driver. I suspect SR system is what it is, because bigger and bigger majority of gamers dont appreciate sportmanship or fair racing, and thus GT would loose a lot of players if it would force more strict racing ethiquette. At the moment all the preaching GT does about "sportsmanship" is a joke, as they do nothing to get rid of the bad behaviour.

Ps . Part of the problem might be im driving the Mustang Gr3. I rather have fun than drive the boring meta cars in every race. I do not know why PDI hates the racing mustangs so much. Not only do they have crap LSD on that horse carriage of a rear axle (which is partly true irl), but they also have horrendous gear ratios - you barely get to use the 6th gear on the döttinger höhe. 🤣

“An eye for an eye, and the whole world will be blind”

You either can except that taking the higher ground and being the that person doesn’t always give you the results you deserve, you become that person people say hello to and will race you fairly.

Or you can be part of the problem teaching the people behind you what erratic driving looks like, that is very similar to the way a certain meme driver causes his havoc….

The SR system is too simplistic I agree, that said I have quite a few videos uploaded in DR B and A lobbies where nobody loses SR as everyone was fair and mature, I also have a few examples of clumsy, rubbish or malicious driving.

I very very rarely get messages about my driving, and even this week a VR streamer called out my “bad driving” only to watch the replay and see he was wrong and I was indicating and apologise. So you really have to factor in how we things were and what actually happened may differ.

For example ignoring the brake checking which is really not cool.

Imagine a scenario where you are gonna take the defensive tight line but you wait really late to do this, the car behind could see this as a block, you’ve also reduced the decision making of braking distances and proximity in to a much smaller window than showing your intentions early. It’s this sort of racecraft thinking that is missing for a lot of people.

The more time and visibility you give to the person behind the less likely you going to get in to these situations where the margins for distance and reaction time are too small.

One last thing I will say is that you can’t really mock the sportsmanship thing if you do things that are unsporting yourself regardless of reason. There is a bit of irony and hypocrisy there

I know the feeling and I think we have all been there but there are ways to tell people you are clean, sending nice messages to the cars around you in the pre lobby,

I used to weave in and out when ppl were in my slipstream until I heard in here it’s not good etiquette and once I stopped, it worked, I stopped and it lets ppl know I’m prepared to race them.

I struggle with people diving up the inside and making contact and its difficult to hear those words, ‘let it go’ because we are all hard racers but I do concede you need to be fair to attract fair drivers, it takes a few races in the same lobbies for ppl to get this so one off races with stuff happening doesn’t tend to help so I try to have 3/4 races at one time to get a feel for the lobby.

And brake testing folk will only lead to being rammed and then you doing the same the next race and the ppl racing clean will take the spoils.

Yes - lobby racing is very different from sport mode. It also doesnt contribute to SR/DR. My issue is strictly sport mode where you are randomly matched with some pretty dirty drivers with SR S. For some reason the BS rated races are by far the worst races in the sport mode. Full of relatively fast but often very inconsistent or deliberately dirty drivers. As I dont have enough game time currently to maintain DR A, I have concidered demoting to DR C just to get cleaner races.

I mean lobbies of sport mode racing, I would say the most part of BS level drivers is also players which fall from DR A and really the most racers in GT are at DR B.

Point being you will find trouble if you cause trouble, go surprise yourself by trying to race clean and you will find clean,

The further down you go is not any better.

As I say, we all get frustrated and me more than most 😁 so I emphasise

I’m not sure you want to hear it but I will say it.

Lobbies are matched on relative DR and SR and then sorted by QT there is a little bit of weighting (I believe to match friends if they are close enough, but typically we are as good as the company we keep so could be a red herring)

You defo won’t want to hear this, but the swing from being in DR A to ending up in C lobbies and still having issues, you gotta self reflect a bit mate.

You aren’t looking at how YOU can improve just how people and the system around you have to improve. This doesn’t work because you can’t control the system and you can’t control the other people. Analyse yourself and find those pockets for improvement. Personally if I was you I’d focus on mentality then lap time, then consistency.

You are complaining about the stuff we all complain about but with no self reflection.
