@newmedia_dev where are you bro? Locked up in a Portuguese jail? 👀

🥴

@JK_GT good going dude, you now need to make that optimal, actual 😁 you can do it 💪
Mate I’m still recovering and been in the office back to back with 2 full days of meetings while sweating god knows what was in those shots out of me.

Also as a quite unfit 46 year old, beer bike, paint ball, zorb football in 22degree heat has ruined my thigh muscles!!

I will attempt some laps tomorrow….

Yep, rocking it with the kids is painful eh? 😂

Well, glad you’re not in a Portuguese jail and see you back when your ready 🙏

Just did a few laps, apart from some muscle memory calibration I can’t chase Damien’s ghost he’s taking really aggressive late wide lines that don’t fit my style so I’ll use another ghost tomorrow.

The fact it’s a full throttle death chicane is fun though in VR! :)

Finally a first win of the week, captured the last lap because this gent raced super well, it was one of those when I was thinking of the win before I had it and actually it slipped away, nearly. Races like these make you realise most folk are like us, hard clean racers.

@Bondwhar that’s mad mate, I’ve had a few of those but also a few damn fine last minute dodges 😂

Yep, happened to me twice, but with Call of Duty. The worst time; a glitch after a seasonal update totally burned out the 1 tera memory expansion. I lost all games saved on it. Needed to reinstall everything (games and apps), but all the gamer profiles were saved. You basically lose just the non shared replays and liveries.

Thanks! Will have to bite the bullet and do it.

I'm using the G70, and managed to improve my time - first race with my new time and I'm on pole position 😲. Finished second aftet getting
It's a quick car, not as stable as the Atenza though imho.

My problem is I like the Italia and want it to be the fastest. Suits my style with a looser rear end.

Just into DR B and can still compete in most cars I've used. Only 2 wins this evening after an hour and a half back to back racing.

I can take the COD flat but, in a race, is it really worth the risk? Not at my DR level it isn't.

Always love a DTS race! And it’s nice that the Cayman is competitive this week. Can’t recall the last time that was the case. Though the Atenza and the G70 still have more straight line speed, I like the neutral handling of the Cayman.

Had some good, close, racing last night in B/S lobbies. And got a podium and a few top 5s.

I'm also running the Cayman for much the same reasons. If I qualify up front I can usually podium. If I qualify in the back there's enough attrition at the CoD to get to mid-pack :D

I genuinely don't understand how A lobbies are full of low 1:47 laptimes this week at Race B

I'm using the Cayman because it feels like I can't get the Atenza to rotate at all on controller & end up a full second slower than my Cayman times (48.0)

In the race I'm able to match pace with these people around 48.7s yet in qually I'm almost a second off.

Is there some sort of huge difference in performance with the Atenza in qually, or wheel steering advantage with the Atenza that I don't know about?

Its one of those weeks where I legitimately feel way off with no clear answer in sight

Yeah god knows how they do it, the Atenza just feels heavy planted and struggles too turn in and the cayman, although sounds fantastic just feel flimsy and if I turn up the FDB, the rig rumbles like hell.

48.0 on a controller though is a fantastic time

After 2 days of driving a little around the Ring in reverse for Race C, I'm starting to get the hang of the circuit. I switched to my ever dependable AMG GT3 '20. I was using RCZ earlier for stability purpose but when I switched to the AMG, I got speed & great handling in return. Due to being a FR car, it suits my driving style around this track which I love.

Took part in one race where I started in P4 (that time my qualy time was somewhere 8:21:xxx). Chose RM (2 laps) - RS (1 lap). Kept my nose clean & focused on myself. Initially, one or two players who were faster (RS) than me, I let them overtake me so as to not hurt each other's race. As the race progressed, I got more & more comfortable with the car + track layout. I ended up finishing second even some distance behind first placed driver.

View attachment 1519757

After the race, I put in some hot laps to try lower my qualy time. Was able to lower to a best of 8:02:534 which even surprised me. My optimal was damn close to enter the 7 minute category with a time of 8:00:247. Will try some more hot laps tomorrow to enter in the 7 minute range. I even tried the Viper & Audi R8 (my choice for Manufacturer's Cup). I wasn't able to lap even as half as decent as the AMG. Loving this circuit now & to be honest, certain parts are so breathtaking to drive through. However, I dread the track between sectors 2 & 4 as it's so twisty with highs & lows in track altitude. AMG is my Meta. A coincidence as the SLS AMG Gr. 4 was my Meta at St. Croix last week in Race C.

Nice work mate!!! How did your hot laps go? Did you get into the 7's? 8 mins is such a long lap, I'm not sure I'm emotionally stable enough to do a great quali and then make a mistake near the end and not lose my mind

Nah you got it, just really think about the rate at which you apply the brake pedal and pay attention to how much red bar youre seeing on the brake meter thing. I almost guarantee that when youre feeling the car not slowing down as youd want youre deep in the ABS, applying pressure a little slower should keep that from engaging as aggressively.
Thanks for this Dex, I tried is last night and was much much smoother and more consistent and actually got the car stopped quicker with just a slightly smoother application of the brake made the world of difference and picked me up 4 or 5 wins out of the 8 races I did!!!!
Exactly 3 1/2 weeks ago my lovely lady got me a Logitech wheel on my birthday, and after a lot of hours filled with confusion and desperation I have managed to get back at my initial pace and even beyond that.

I've clocked in a 1:48,202 with an optional 1:47,9xx on Daily Race B with the G70.

That just feels so satisfying...

Edit: The hardest part is braking, steering inputs and the kerbs... Oh boi how I underestimated these on the Gamepad before, but I'm pretty optimistic that I'll get this too soon with enough practise.

Happy Fresh Prince Of Bel Air GIF
How's the enjoyment and immersion? Now you're just as quick are you finding it way more fun with the wheel?
@brockie Biggest time killer is the infamous chicane of death.

I'm still reluctand to go through there fully flat out...
Just got to bite the bullet and hold on for dear life and hope the times it comes off is when you have put the rest of the lap together first!!!!

Congrats mate, lovely bit of racing that at the end. I've had some mares with some idiots but have had more good, hard, fair racing as well with 3 or 4 different people last night with the lead chopping and changing which was great fun. When it's like that it keeps you coming back for more doesn't it!!!!

Congrats on the win mate. I personally don't think it's worth it in the race, the 1 or 2 tenths you lose by lifting slightly can easily be negated by nailing other corners and obvs a wall hit or crash is a nightmare, I've also found that if someone behind takes it flat out they usually get over excited closing in on me for the final corner and overshoot allowing me to get a better exit and extend the gap.

I think they're guilty of what I'm guilty of mate! hot lapping where everything goes right and the COD flat comes off, I'm hitting late 48's/early 49's race pace and my quali is mid 47.

Yeah I’m finding now my lobbies are filled with guys I know at high BS or bottom AS so it’s great clean fair racing and everyone saying hi.

But since that win I got some good top 6s and like a yoyo I’m back in A!!!! 😂

I just need a decent gr3 race next week that suits my style and the next plan is to somehow consolidate A so I don’t keep doing this, i must have earned 4k DR in a few races,

The graph attached shows me nearly 38k when I didn’t nothing but that golf gti race, then drops when I did the Watkins Glen, back up at Monza and now hovering around the two this week, it’s crazy

Nice to be back in A though.

Seems like you're too quick for B and just off in A? it will come though won't it, I had that a few weeks ago with C/B and bounced 2 or 3 times and now I'm at the front of B, I think with a few more good results this week I'll be knocking on the door of A so would be good to land in a few lobbies with you!!

I think I'm realising I might be a Gr4 specialist  all my good weeks have been Gr4, Think Gr3 are a bit too much for me, but need to learn that!!!!!

Going to shoot home at lunch and try and nick a few podiums hopefully

Yeah I used to prefer gr4 but not anymore, gr3 is harder to drive so abit more of a challenge.

I can hold my own in top B but A I’m a newborn just finding my feet, need to grown into that! 😁

You’ve come an awful long way in a short space of time, keep going 👊

Offfhhh got home and into a spicy lobby!!!!

Yeah it’s only been 3 months but I have crammed 600 races into that time 😂😂😂amazing the physiological affect being in that lobby has. Made 2 huge mistakes that I never make just from being a bit nervous!

Next race - back to normal! Turns out I’m a flat track bully that can only win from the front and crumbles under the tiniest bit of pressure in a quicker lobby 😂😂😂

Exactly my thoughts. Some drivers have no patience, see a half chance of a pass and can't resist risking it. Soooo predictable. I brake early and often retake the position on the inside. Happened to me twice in a race last night on the same player. So satisfying 👿

Good to see you out there mate, took me a second to realise it was you as obvs used to see this username.

Sorry about the contact when you over took. To be honest I was not expecting you to dive in an inch in front of me and my reactions are not that quick (I’m too old). Was fun to battle and the drag race to the end was fun, I just needed an extra 20m of track 😂

You’ve picked up the race pace pretty quickly 💪🙌

This is really sound advice and something I had not thought of before apart from when racing thinking 🤔 why is the car not slowing down as quick this lap versus the last lap. I’m in VR so don’t see the red bar but can feel the difference on the T-GT2 so thanks for this gem for braking.
I shall persevere 😓 later and try to break the 1.47 barrier in Race B.
Thanks again 😇🫶🥳

Stringerbell, you are seriously smashing this game and fair play to you. To be so quick in such a short space is a credit to you.
Look forward to seeing you race for Red Bull F1 next season 🥳

Good luck mate - make sure you update us all when you break into the 47's will be great to see!!!!!! Dex's braking tip has made my laps far more consistent.

Thank you mate, it's become a bit of an obsession (as I think it is with all of us) but loving every minute of it, so glad I picked the game up on a whim as it's replaced the competition I've been missing since stopping sports. Literally downloaded it on the PS Portal as thought it would be something I could play for 20 mins at a time on the sofa whilst I chilled out :lol::lol:

haha I'm not sure Redbull with come knocking and if they did I think I might struggle to fit in the car, I'm 6'5 and just shy of 18 stone

So sorry for the tap into the final turn iirc.

I get the feeling we were trying super hard to be careful/fair. I held you up a fair bit - you were quicker overall.

Saved the replay.

Here's a screenshot of us giving it some 👊

Really enjoyed it mate, I'm glad you felt the same, to be honest I'd rather finish 3rd and have a clean race then push past someone for 1st.

That picture is great, didn't realise how realistic the movement of the cars would be on the pics!

I did save the replay as well but had to shoot back to work so will watch it when I get home.

Oh wow. I also think you've become very fast in a very short time. The amount of racing explains it partly (but you're still talented I think). I maybe have 600 races done in total now in a span of 2 years.

haha - whoops that kind of makes me look like I might have a problem. I worked it out, think I'm averaging 7 races a day 🤦‍♂️
