Just to make sure, TTs are fun but the point is to race, that said more time spent perfecting repeatable speed is not wasted.

I did a daily race with my time it’s at the sharper end EMEA wise and I made a pigs ear of it lap 4 so went P2 to p4 but all absolutely fine, was slight tapped harder than you’d want but they instantly backed out. The racing was fair and controlled not drama.

GT7 | Kyoto GR3 excellent racing....i crashed as well

Had 10 races today and have been very polarizing! 5 top 2 finishes, a 9th and 4 14th and worst 😂😂😂 have started pope or P2 and have thrown it away three times from the lead and got spun out twice but that was after my mistakes so shouldn’t have been in harms way anway!

Can’t decide if the endurance model or the sprint model is the way to go?
I think Tidgney said the sprint was better in his video

I improved to a 133.3 with an optimum 2/10ths lower (I’ve shared replays for .8, .5 and .3

With the .3 one just remember I was full commitment to the chicane as I got the two curbs right and chicane turn in so bear that in mind when pushing

@Lightsider74 personally, I prefer the pressure vs movement (loadcell vs just spring) as it makes smoothing the trail braking a little nice as it’s removing weight not ankle motion but honestly it’s a preference thing rather good vs bad
thanks for sharing replay Glen, shaved down 7xx with a 570 optimal. I can get my sector 1 and 2 nearly two tenths quicker then your lap but you just absolutely cook me in both chicanes and leave me 4 or 5 tenths behind!!!

On your note re: racing, I’m really enjoying the time trialing at the moment and not overly enjoying the races like I used to so think a 60/40 split of my time between racing and TT is how I’m going to do it. Still gives me 25/30 races a week!

It’s important to learn both track management and race management.

Racing will be messy and frustrating but it’s actually a sharper needle than lapping.

I like TT sometimes it’s all I do because I like it, other times I race, because racing is dynamic and flexes a little more than muscle memory and contextualises control not just pace.

It’s all fun whatever we do but there is more uplift in a good race than flat laps on your own.

Your certainly fast, no doubt about it BUT....and this might be contentious, i apologise beforehand because it is in no way meant as an attack on you. No way in the world would you get away with abusing the kerbs like that IRL. I think this is the reason why i am poor on GT7, i just cannot abuse the kerbs like that, it feels completely alien and unnatural. Obviously its the quickest way to go but at the same time it is blatenly wrong, like a cheat mode 🤣🤣. Try that in other sims and see what happens 🙉. Saying that, i will give it a shot once little man is gone to bed 👍

Edit: Before examples are shown IRL, there is kerb hopping, i am well aware of that...this is just a bit extreme 🤣👍

No criticism, just where the time is. I don’t like it personally in the game, but if we reframe the issue is control (can to do it repeatedly) vs (can you go faster without it?)

So the issue isn’t that it’s their but more about where you want to be.

I’d point you to my race vid where it’s not so much about the curbs more about holding yourself in race at pace.

I want to be very clear that I’m competitive to my delta not doing the curbs, that’s fine but the margins I want have a different paradigm than just being fast, they need to sit in that place where awkward is repeatable.

Watch my vid mate it’s a normal bloke just trying to be quick and fair.

Also I get your point but it’s not as clear cut as you want. I drive to execute and that’s performance oriented nothing else nothing more.

100% agree with you, i did watch the clip as i do with all you post on YT. Its just something that irks me personally that 'the real driving simulator' is actually not really that at all when the quickest way around a track is to absolutely slam kerbs and chicanes 😉 Anyway, like i said, thats why i am slow 🤣🤣🤣👍

Yeah that’s the hard part, it’s not real in that sense at all, can’t even pretend. It gets better but it’s grind and time to get there.

Honestly it’s not ideal for me (I didn’t race last week and only but in times for the banter) the reality is it’s faster, it just is we can debate it it but racing is be as fast as you are allowed.

We will see how willow plays out next week as I think it will be quite dense which is funny as it’s the same lap just Gr3 and Gr4 inversed funny

One thing with that VR or even the in car view is that it all feels so much slower, like you have time to react. In bonnet or roof mode it all feels REALLY manic.
Yes it does, but that’s vision not that you can’t slow down a fraction earlier in a flat screen it’s actually why I won’t drive 2d anymore as alll the references have gone and I’m so slow on turn In or getting the car set.

It has challenges but the reward is more than results.

Even my own in car replays, feels slow motion but I just can't get used to it when driving.
I use the default DD/Fanatec settings.

I won’t go a long way in to it but if you need more rotation/turn you’ve turned to late and relying on over moving the wheel not the trajectory (car)

Not over try the turn I , think early once flow out.

Yeah I feel late, always do, I touched on it before. I feel I need to turn a smidge early, like there's this tiny lag.
Just not work the wheel hard, turn definitively and early.

Being honest I use the default SEN {1020?}

Im not saying this to use specifically but generate, changing the SEN makes it it really artificial because it makes catch t the edge exits harder, that might work but its bit the way. A wider wheel gives you margin, a tight wheel gives you a controller with a wheels and that’s a weird place for me.

About to enter my first Daily Race later today...just wondering if I use a 'Rental' car can I change the livery/colour scheme to the one I like to use in my main drive garage car?

Nope. Stock liveries/colourways on the rental cars only.

Interesting night in race B. Whittled QT down to a 34.1 but optimal still 33.9, absolutely zero clue how guys are sub 33.5.

The races were pretty good, I was top split all night with 4 to 5 A+ guys and the rest A. Qualifying around 10th and holding my own in races. Racing has mostly been clean but guys really do need to back out unless they have serious overlap heading into the two chicanes. 99pc crashes are Muppets with barely their bumper as overlap, trying tongobsode by side into the chicanes.

You can see here I bide my time, ibget a few runs but lift cos 3 or 4 into a chicane is a bad idea. Cracking last lap.

had an hour before work this morning - 20 mins in quali and 2 races. Managed to shave my time down to 1.33.644 - I do feel I can get into the 5's but it will take a lot of time and effort that I don't think I'm willing to put in as want to race now as both races were fun this morning.

Nice to see you out there @brockie

I thought that but I also think the smoothness of Glen's driving also makes it seems like it's going slower.

How did your first races go? Would love to hear an update.

No livery change on the rentals but if you're looking for most "bang for your buck" then in Gr4 the Citroen C4 and the Atenza come up as the meta a lot and in Gr3 the 992, M6, WRX for RBR and Ferrari are regulars as the meta so if you buy one of those and put a livery on then you will get to use it a fair amount!

Its currently only 3:35pm here in Sydney so I am still at work...I finish soon and I am going to go straight home and register for a Race A...do some qualifying laps...then see how I go 👏
