A lil tear came out when I saw that Willow is planned for next week 😢. Seems btw that it will be GR4, maybe 4C as meta.
This week there's only Yamagiwa that makes sense (for me at least). M6 and RCF are my choices, but I'll be definitely late (as always) on posting a time.
Was also a lil too bold on my target for WG last week. I could manage "only" a '14.287 (ideal '14.195), enough to be inside the 100th on the leaderbord.

Enjoy your racing week, everyone.

I can't wait to spend 2 hours trimming down my quali time down this week at Spa, only to repeatedly start in 16th because of my artificiallly-inflated DR

😖
Yep, I am back up to DR-A so looking forward to P14 to 16 starts.

To both of you, real talk….

DR isn’t the measure it’s lap time that is the sorting hat DR is just the bucket so you can either find the time other people are finding and lock that in or you’ll always bounce between dominance and making up the numbers, DR shows results, lap times shows performance ceiling, you can raise one through practice and unlocking pace the other one is luck of the gods on the day/lobby

What we're both saying is we don't have the inherent pace to compete upper mid pack and will struggle until we drop back to our natural place.

Can you folks save your PB lap times please. More fun racing peeps from this thread imo.

I've made a video showing how to download it to race as I struggled to find how to do it initially.

In this case I added an old ghost replay from @newmedia_dev so it obviously doesn't show in the ghost list but any saved from Yamagiwa will be there like my PB is in the video.
Nice time Nick, I have also loaded up my 1:35.107 for non-aliens 👽 😂🤠

I just think (for the next game or earlier) they need to really consider segregated ranking between categories.

The skill gap is too awkward.

It is and it isn’t, people clearly are fast for their buckets, I do agree there needs to be more granularity and that simple E/S buckets don’t have enough fidelity.

That said if the average lobby pace is X that’s really just how it is, and these are mix of controller users, wheel, vr etc so the only thing you can control is your own pace and race regardless of DR ranking remove that and you are still gonna be in the same lobby hoppers.

Apologies for the voice.. still a bit ill, however an interesting week this week. Glad its better than last week, just wish they would fix that stupid rolling start!

You're probably right. My fears were likely unfounded, my maiden race at Spa today I finished as the first red A in the grid, and that was after a brutal 3s Yellow Flag penalty (I never even saw the warning). So maybe the system is working ok after all.

To be fair it’s not great but it is just lap time sorting and then buckets or buckets and then lap time ordering… like racing.

I have to agree on the yellow flag pens though, boils my pee. I watched the GTWS at brands and someone overlapped in a yellow flag and just slotted back behind, no issue or pen. A mechanic had a foot the wrong side of the line….5s pen in the real world (it didn’t matter in the end but it’s like 🤷‍♂️)

I would just like to go on the record and say it is completely unacceptable for you aliens to set such unrealistic times for us mere mortals to chase!!

I’m looking at you @newmedia_dev @Lightsider74 @Barney Da Dog @BuzzdoggZ

This track is bloody hard!!!! Don’t really feel like I have control of the car at any point.

In reverse in Gr4? I had a pretty ok time!! This is a complete different kettle of fish

Don’t over drive or think it, lift a little before every braking point, after a few laps you will life less and blend inputs more.

The chicane is full throttle with a lift or two.

Getting the time is just about nailing the rythym.

If you use a ghost put it further ahead for this track because there are 2 corners where the feel is better for exit than copying the line

Every time I get close you go faster and faster. Mind you in the high 1:34’s now 🥳🤠

I'm not a very good alien:lol: Still time to find around B for me, optimum is few tenths quicker (using the 458) if I can get the first chicane right.
I get horrendous oscillations around Spa with Gr1 and can't seem to get rid of it - if I try and dial them out then everything feels too dead. Anybody got any FFB settings for GR1 that still feel good?

P.S
anybody want a Fantatec McLaren GT3 wheel, with metal QR2 and QR2 base side connection??

or an X-Rocker sim rig and monitor stand? If I can get it posted for a sensible price

Thanks Glen, always with the good advice and it always seems to center around telling me to cool my jets from over driving!! It’s like you’re watching me! Really struggle with letting the car coast or settle and am at best straight in the throttle and brake one after another and at worst overlapping the inputs! Tomorrow will try and have a little lift before the chicane and the 3rd to last corner.

This is the first time I’ve used a ghost and it deffo helped!

Those guys in the top ten pushing in to break 32 is absolutely insane!! EDIT!!! Someone is now in the 31’s!!

Hah glad to keep you on your toes mate. I found a ghost from 102nd in the world as it seemed more realistic to try and chase a 33.xxx than a 32!

You do like that Ferrari don’t ya!! Sure I’ve seen you use air a few times when it’s not the meta.

Has anyone raced? Had one to finish the eve and it is seat of your pants stuff!!! Very high octane but enjoyable!! Started P2 and finished P2!

Tonight was the first time I’ve actually spent 3 hours just studying the replays, learning the track and getting 30/40 lap into qualifying! Usually I’m just too eager to get into a race half baked where I don’t even really know the track fully and am not up to speed! 9/10 I set fire to about 3-4k DR and ruin my evening 😂 having a time trial battle has been much more fun!!! Here’s to a good week of battling!!!

You're fast mate!

Practice practice practice.

My issue is I want to be competitive straight away and it just leads to frustration. Many years ago I learned to play guitar and the (video) tutor said to forget speed and get the technique down. Once the "tune" is in your fingers tempo will come eventually. Same principle with a brand new car/track combo.

The circuit experience is very useful in this regard. This morning I kept practicing the sectors even after getting the gold times.

I'm still not consistent enough to actually race yet and I prefer slower cars in general.

Anyway I see you've found some pace now so it's all good!

Ah I’d forgotten about the CE. I will jump in that tomorrow to practice the chicane and the hairpin after that as I’m leaking time massively in those corners!!!!

Practice practice practice is what I’ve finally come to the realisation is so important. I’m going to spend more time in TT then in racing I think to just try and develop some pace!

Lovely lap by you mate 💪💪

That chicane is so difficult 😥 to nail, 1 minute I’m going through it solidly next lap I’m spinning like a a helicopter 🚁 with no tail rotor.
Early days I suppose 😇
Brilliant lap @Lightsider74 and @Stringerbell. Well played 🥳🤠

Nope. At the beginning I thought the same logic, but I was wrong. I really started to improve significantly only after following just top of the leaderbord "from outa space" ghosts. It's true, at the beginning they were simply disappearing at the horizon after few corners, now not anymore. It's important to not be discouraged. Perseverance pays dividends, eventually.
A mandalorian would say: "This is the way."

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Something Wicked This Way Comes

A new week brings a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, with three fresh events now live and running through next Monday. Noteworthy this week is Race A’s choice of car: the Wicked Fabrication GT 51, an in-game name that takes a moment to unpack...

Remember it’s a journey, you and I use the ghosts very specifically where as there use is just showing the way for most peeps.

One thing I would add is if you are catching a top 10 ghost or ahead then something went wrong somewhere 🤣

I'm knocking on the door of a 33 at Yami but couldn't quite get it tonight - replay saved and shared. It feels like there's more time to be had at the chicane and hairpins, so I need to watch a few replays of how the aliens are doing it and I'd like to get down to a 33.6 by the end of the week.

Not feeling confident enough to jump in a race yet, as I'm still having far to many offs. Hope to see you guys out there over the next few days.

after a full morning of being punted, brake checked so I get the penalty, shoved wide like the other guy is Max, or just all around garbage drivers around me I've decided this week is a great week to 100% GTA 5.

GR 1 at Spa is awesome to qualify, horrific to race. GR 3 at Kyoto is much the same thing just with slower cars.
B/S to B/A lobbies. Safety Rating is a joke and PD would be better served to eliminate them all together and just pair based on speed.

I ran a 34.3 in the 992, got a really good run through the chicane but optimal is still a 33.8. I tried the BMW but cannot hear that soulless engine which does my head in. Tried the Jag, wow that is a WILD ride cos she really hauls so you need to brake a bit earlier. It has a time in it and I reckon is the sleeper this week, but I could only manage a high 34.

Tbh the 992 feels fantastic, it just just hates the herbs, very stiff.

Two races, all A rooms, finished p5 and p3 and had the pace to run there, much to my surprise. Looking at replays I joining a lot of time on corner entry, I am half decent at trail braking so it works well at Kyoto.

Both raves were clean.

School for the kids was cancelled today as Iran decided to start sending some presents over to Dubai again last night, silver lining is after getting them all washed up and fed and played with - it gave me an hour to jump on whilst they went online with school.

Managed to squeak into the 33's with a 1.33.899 - optimal was a low33.7 - definitely feel like I can get under 33.5 if I tidy up the 2 chicanes and the hairpin in between as I am getting through sector 2 at 40 seconds then just seeing time slip away.

I'm in the 911 - just so stable compared to the M6 for me.

3 absolute aliens now in the 31's - although two of them are world tour drivers with a Dr S.

Going to have some races tonight as feel like I have a good feel for the track now and have the pace.

Hopefully see you out there mate, always good to race with you!!!! mid 33's is definitely in the locker for you there I'm sure!!

EDIT: just realised I will have to get myself back in A if I want to see you

haha I've been there mate!!! i had the same thing last week or two and took a bit of time out, did some time trialing and played some other games and feel so much better this week so hopefully next week you come back fresh!!!!!e

Nice mate, that optimal will become real in no time. I agree on the 992, I just couldn't find any pace in the M6 - might give it another after a few races.

Good results there too, where were you starting on the grid in the A lobby?

That chicane is so hit or miss for me and I don't think I have ever truly nailed it yet

Stay safe mate!

I’m a little late to the party as I was dithering between racing A again all week or not.

And I’ve come to the conclusion that old car is just not that fun to drive! 😁

So I head into Yama from here in the BM

Thanks mate - all good here, business as usual - I'm still at my desk at work!

Yama is a really fun track with the high speed corners and hooking the curbs etc... you'll have fun! Plus the leaderboard battle is going to be a blast this week, even more so with you involved!!!!!
