Bathurst will be an AWD meta, the nature of the track is HIGHLY conducive to 4WD, rotation is not the key element, exit grip is supreme importance.

I'll be watching AUS V PAR tonight, I went to the Croatia V Panama match which was cool for the Croatian heritage wife. I just find less time to hit the rig this time of year, lots to do in summer, baseball coaching, take the real life sports/mid life crisis mobile for a spin etc etc, sun goes down after 9.

Agreed completely on the parity between wheel and controller. Input method is no excuse, it's just sandbagging!

Wheel users have an advantage in some fringe cases (tyre wear), but then again controller users have an advantage in others.
I wouldn't call better tyre wear, better full steering, GR1 basically being mediocre on controller & easier time going over bumps "fringe cases " tbh.

It's not about making excuses, the guys at the top are going to beat me whether they're on controller, wheel or a pilot joystick..

The reality is there ARE differences that lead to consistent advantages for wheel (which is pay to win imo, but that's whatever) & good game design wouldn't put those two player bases together in ranked modes that are supposed to be based on fair play & a fair environment.

Gotta be honest I'm sick of people with wheels trying to downplay that advantage as though controller uses have no right to complain.

It's only in ranked & ranked tournaments where it matters, I don't think anyone cares about the difference in customs, or single player content.

A lot of wheel users love to use guys like calster as the exception, but the exception doesn't disprove the rule, & even he on his own streams has talked about slight differences & struggles that when all else is equal, makes a difference.

It's not worth arguing about anyway, nothing will ever get done about it because PD are incompetent developers when it comes to their online, as proven by the mediocrity & total lack of creativity with their sport mode since 2017 & their focus on drip fed content the exact same way GTAO did with it's proverbial cocaine shot for the mouse each month.

For the record, at this point I'd be happy with just the icons on leaderboards & better filtering options, so I can filter by hardware that matches mine & learn from the top guys using the same hardware in the same car. Id love a huge overall of filtering options in this game honestly

Is the Godzilla (Nissan GT-R from '91) coming back for this?

Unlikely on... many levels:

  • The race is set as Racing Hard tyres, making road cars improbable
  • In fact it's probably a pretty regular Gr.4 race
  • There isn't an R32 Gr.4 race car in the game
  • There isn't a 1991 R32 in the game either - there's a 1990 NISMO and a 1994 V-Spec II, but no 1991
  • And there's no game update due before Monday

I’ve enjoyed race C this week. Only gotten three runs in but it really does test my endurance and being able to see my brake markers at night is a challenge (more than once I’ve kept going straight on the Mulsanne straight even though I reached the chicane. I feel that a long long race with hypers at Le Mans just after the real race is an appropriate use of this format.

I do wish the weather was completely dynamic instead of this setup where it’s always at the start, would add more to the chaos

Don’t think I agree with this one, wheel use is a choice for immersion and play style.

There are plenty faster racers than me on controller to my wheel, and wheel for that matter and I’m sure there are worse players on wheel and controller than me,

No harm in lumping them together, they both do just fine

My primary concern with a potential "input indicator" is that AFAIK there is no inherent mechanism on Playstation to verify your controller type. So wheel/controller/motion controls would simply be a check box you tick manually.

It would kind of undermine any fairness system you are seeking, wouldn't it?

Decided to jump into a race B at lunch, would you believe it was the first race all week I had a DR increase 😁 and I’m actually liking the reverse track now, I’m into it! I’m not fast particularly but I do like it! 🤣

Ahhhhhhhhhhh the FWD HP advantage is real.
Yeah maybe because it’s uphill the FF is pulling a bit better, I hope it’s the case for next week because it’s saviour will be driving yet another different car for the week, so my eBay livered mazda3 is coming out for the week 😁

I was reading that it’s the Meta as it pulls like a rocket down the two straights and coming down the mountain being FWD keeps it more stable under braking and anything RWD will snap out. Well that’s what chatGPT told me and my brain is now just a vessel to regurgitate what ever ChatGPT tells me 🤷‍♂️

Well I just don’t know anything about cars so… 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm on holiday next week so the races will probably be absolutely epic and the best of the year.
It may well could be, I ran a open lobby of FF only gr4 at Bathurst this morning and it feels good, could be some real good racing in B next week (ever the optimist 😁)

Have a good one!

Let me know if you do another lobby mate.

I think I’m done with race B this week, realised I wasn’t actually enjoying myself and was just trying to grind DR.

I think I will mate, I’ll out the details up a little later, it’s so friggin hot here, just need to go get the boys some serious water playing fun items and I’ll set up after lunch! Mazda3 around Bathurst 😁
