If the Yaris at Autopolis is half as much fun as it was at Grand Valley last year, I'll be pitching my tent there for the week!
This is ALOT of fun mate, I might time trial a bit more of Bathurst, but this racing is super fun 🤩

Urrrgh. It leads to the most crazy driving style, it will all come down to how early you get on the power.
You’re right with this. It’s very much brake, trail, stamp. No modulation at all.

I’m in B lobbies on my alt and doing my 3rd race and must say although the G70 is dog slow, it’s been a fun few races and clean in all of them so far.

Think I’m going to try and drop my time into the 15’s and run this account up into A this week.

Might give Deep Forest ago but not sure I fancy 16 laps

Bathurst is a good race if you can trust your fellow racers, so far the only one untrustworthy guy there makes his way somewhere near me and I end up as collateral damage!

Honestly guys I’m nearing DR C these days, still absolute top SR but I think my unwillingness to fight to the death is leaving me where I am,

Can’t work out how, but I’m gonna to share my racing time between A & B as there is some fun to be had

Edit, and also mixed lobbies in B on a Monday, me and my 22k against AS? Dwindling player numbers?

Ah shame, we were racing at the same time but didn’t end up in the same lobby.

dg edge says only 8000 people have put a time in so far so not many players to fill out the lobbies at the moment. Sure they will get deeper the more the week goes on.

It’s very difficult to race for a place in the top 8 when (like you) I would rather not fight to the bitter end and try to race fair and with some sportsmanship.
Maybe 🤔 something in our driving style needs to change 🫣🤠

I was really looking forward to Bathurst this week but it's just crap with the G70 being fastest always, there's no race craft. Just smash the peddle and steer :( They need to do a 1 make race around Bathurst (preferably RWD)!

Is it me or does that Yaris understeer like a pig? Granted it is Autopolis which has a whole football pitch’s worth of width to the turns.

Think you’re right. Had a race this morning and only 12 people in it and was split across A, B and C drivers.

Seems like the straight coming off the mountain and the straight after the first left are the only real legit over taking points unless someone makes a mistake.

Slip seems so strong that if you’re less than half a second behind coming off the mountain you can catch them before the turn.

It just so happens that I’m shocking at both those turns 😂🤦‍♂️

That last corner before the downhill straight at Bathurst is so darn annoying, if you are hitting it too fast you can actually end up pointing the opposite way that you want to go! Do that on the last lap and your race just imploded!

Nice lap @Bondwhar I’m struggling to get near that!

Race A is a great little race too, very slidey but good fun nonetheless @benjoi84 I have your time in my sights and nearly hit it just 😁

Yep, the heatwave was atrocious this weekend at home. Tried some training for Le Mans Friday nyt, but it was sweaty as hell. Switched on licences, missions and some circuit experience for the alt account eventually, cause It needs money. Btw, that's my preferred side of single player. If only the penalty system was like the one of missions... Maybe harsh, but I find that 0.5 sec penalty for even a small contact could be helpful for getting rid of all those psychos that are around (in Tidgney's yesterday guide we've all seen what was race A with just one, let's say, unorthodox driver in it).
In DF I see the Viper meta lap-time wise, but it's a tyre's shredder, so I'll be happy to see how it goes against the R8 and the GT40.
I was wondering; if we connect at ar same time (I mean we as GT Planet community), do you guys think that we'll end up in the same lobby with witch statistical probability? 🤔 (0%, 30%, 50% or else). The idea is to be like 4 or 5 in the same lobby in order to work together. Wishing everyone an excellent week, hopefully "colder" than last one. 🥵

You guys are killing me, "the last corner before the back straight"..... sacrilege! That's Forest's Elbow, because a bloke with the last name Forest scrapped his elbow off way back when you could punt around with the windows down. The back straight is Conrod Straight, because back in the day there was no chicane (the chase) and it was a straight mile plus run and cars used to launch conrods in the air as the engines let go. History people, history.

And yes, the only real place to pass are Griffiths bend (turn 2) and into the chase. You can sneak a pass into Hell corner (T1) or into Murray's corner (last corner) but not at these anemic HP levels. Passing across the top is unheard of in competitive cars IRL so HP and aero efficiency are key to race day pace. This is why the GTR was such a force back in the early 90's, competing cars were all RWD and a bit lairy, so the GTR could FIRE out of Forests elbow and just walk past everybody.

You're all also killing me because I use y'all as a guide to my pace, I set a 17.1 in qualy, looked ok against most of you then I find myself P14 in the 1st race  . I can seemingly keep up mid pack in A/A+ rooms and my DR was stable across three races but it is hard to be consistent.

I started P6 with 15.9 QT in mixed DR A/B lobbies and finished 10th both races this morning. SR took a big hit too. Enjoying the combo at Bathurst but find I'm bracing myself all race for the inevitable carnage or penalties for scraping the walls.

That’s some impressive knowledge! I am very guilty of numbering the corners and then getting those numbers wrong as wel 😂🤦‍♂️

To come in line, I lose 8 tenths from
the top of the esses to the start of the chase.

That’s a cacking time there mate, I’m struggling to get into the 16’s.

As a boy in Australia in the 70's and 80's, you were either a Ford family or a Holden (GM) family, this was the subject of many bloody school yard fights for honor. THis first Sunday of every october, you plonked yourself in front of the TV with dad, fridge full of snacks and beers, and sat there for 6 hours calling the opposition a bunch of cheats or laughing at their misforune as yet another engine blows itself to bits before it all got too professional.

The rot started in the mid 80's, the europeans brought over small capacity turbo charged cars that were quick but, yep, blew up relentlessly, eventually they got the reliability sorted and the Ford Sierra took over. This was followed by a larger engined, AWD GTR that blew everyone into the weeds. From there the euros were banned and the whole thing got way too professional from about 2000 onwards, now they blast around all day without so much as a hiccup, it's sucked the fun out of it because there is just to much reliability.

Wowzers! You are a true petrol head through and through aren’t you mate!!! I doth my cap to your knowledge!!! I’ve never been into motor racing but since starting with the sim I’ve been watching the highlights of the different events at bathhurst. Think is definately my fave track to watch.

I always thought it was the state of origin in league that was the big family/friend splitter in Australia?

On a different note, I managed to get into the 15’s after. A few laps. My friends list on the alt is rather lonely 🤦‍♂️😂 so I’ll post on here for a bit of competition. How is everyone faring? @Barney Da Dog have you recovered and jumped on yet?

Huge, I'll watch two flies race up a wall.

Queenslanders are Neanderthals' and their blood line is questionably close ;)

I don't think i can get into the 15's, maybe a mid 16 is my max I reakon.

😂😂 I can see the attraction. Although rather weirdly I’d rather watch one of the top streamers in the manu cup or something rather than a live race! Need to sort that out!!!

Looks like I’ve struck Lucky then as my wife is from Sydney 😂!! Although o preferred the Gold Coast over both Sydney and Melbourne so I’m not sure what that says about me 🤦‍♂️

How did you end up in Canada from Australia?

On streamers, I don't mind watching Rory do the dailies, pretty good action and learning to be had. Though you look like total dork watching on TV when the mrs walks past.

Looks like a pretty bloody good reason to me 😂

Oh those days of my wife thinking I wasn’t a dork are long gone! She’s seen me go through many geeky hobbies of LEGO collecting, fishing keeping with 3 x 200 gallon tanks and a stingray, drone flying - the list goes on and usually with it does hours of YouTube on the tv 😂

I enjoy Sammy’s stream as he loses his head every now and then which I find very relatable!

I think early morning or late afternoon time is where I normally see some split lobbies mate so could be that we get lumped together

Saying that I don’t get that many dr increase races since that Tokyo and Watkins Glen races recently

I’m actually quite close to C now 😱

I gotta try this one.
He does UK time Monday mornings before Rory and then Tuesday and Thursday so on alternate days to Rory so gives you something each day 😬

I’ve got down to a 15.312 with an optimal in the 14’s but I don’t think there is any chance of me stringing that together.

1.13.9xx for the WR is absolutely outrageous

I do always find it really cool that wherever the race is, the home track advantage is real and that country gets in the top 10!!

4 Aussies in top 12 here

😲

I know where I lose time - tiptoeing through the [insert real names here @NevilleNobody ] turns at the summit but how did you go from struggling to get into the 16s to the low 15s!?

I'm sulking now. 15.6 I could've matched maybe but 15.3.....

Need a few friends there mate? Nice time btw

To be honest that was a typo. I meant to say I was struggling to get into the 15’s. Yesterday my best was a 16.4.

Yes coming down the mountain as fast as they do is outrageous!

I can get to the top of the esses 3 or 4 tenths behind a 1.14 time but by the time I’m on the concord straight I’m 9 tenths behind. The last two corners cost me 4 tenths too.

They seem to be able to just breeze down the mountain so much quicker

Think I might have a blast as deep forest as the g70 just feels so slow.

I can share the lap if you want a ghost to chase that isn’t an insane 1.14!
