Gr.3 or Gr.4, just offer a handful of cars & strictly omit the meta cars (Gr.3 - 992, M6) & ( Gr.4 - G70, GT by Citroen, Atenza). For eg; let there be FF cars once for Gr.4 racing. No one looks at them for their understeery nature. At least for a week, neglected cars will get some needed attention.
I’m no programmer but this seems a very easy way for them to introduce a bit of variety.
I do wonder how long it takes them to set up the daily races, and how much maintenance they need, versus their income from ps plus/new game sales etc (disclaimer: I don’t know the PD or games industry business model AT ALL 🤣). Maybe they are trying to minimise costs at this point in the game’s life cycle. Even a few months ago they seemed to be putting more effort in.
Every week I dread seeing how depressed @Tidgney is at the week’s offering 😢

I had a bash today at Daily Race C only as RBR didn't seem interesting but I will try the Lambo race another time. So chugged in with the Ford GT with mixed results, alot of divebombing and crashes on turn 1 expected, but the penalties for barrie collision being given even though the person behind me pushed me into the wall oh joy. 3rd race with the R8 LMS 19 EVO, I put some more practice time in beforehand and managed a quick 2:01 as seen below in the pics. A decent time for me to start in 8th on the grid, in a fairly high B lobby. Some quick buggers in here and I managed to after some jostling and bashing all over, recover to 9th. There is no way you have a clean race in this one, the BARRY R's are out to get ya lol.

😂😂 poor Tidgney.

I guess if the numbers stay the same then if it’s not broke don’t fix it must be their mindset. You don’t know if they even get the feedback that people aren’t happy.

All they see if tens of thousands of people each week racing eh dailies they stick out on autopilot so they must just assume it’s great?

Did the Skyline race after, predictably got knocked to the back and tried racing against an Alfa. Turns out the art of slamming the brakes on under a yellow flag so the car behind can get a penalty is still alive. Haven't seen that in a while.

Another fantastic race of 1x 1x racing in the same cars, sweet! Perhaps they could remove my limbs and potentially eyes to maximise my enjoyment.
“As seasoned veterans of this game these are underwhelming”

Mate, the reason disappointment exists is expectation, you know this. We know PD so expectations are not something I have anymore.
Don't say that now, you may cause the account "Nebuloser72" to be created...
Your chip on your shoulder is bigger than a five guys bag of fries.

I don’t know if the other threads are dry or boring or whatever but you never have anything actually constructive to say, you never talk about race experiences, or qualifying or driving tips or style just emotional non connected “words” now you are entitled to them, but just know they hold less and less value the more you don’t actually engage with the thread.

We can’t solve PDs choices, and we are “mostly” ok to just deal with them so email
Them maybe?

I don't expect anything more - but I'll always be disappointed because I love the franchise. It's a shame to see the online go this way when you've been playing it for 20 years and it used to be so much more. It's disappointing to see them essentially have given up and thrown in the towel on something that used to show as much love put into it as the car models, the music, the atmosphere.
They've been chasing online racing since Gran Turismo 3, and were at the forefront of so much of that on the PS3. They're behind everyone now. Not a competitor out there that does it worse.

You don't see any of that love anymore, so I'll always be disappointed in how it turned out. Hard not to be.

We don’t disagree, I got my PS1 out of the eves and put it on my projector and did 6 hours on the weekend.

The frustration for me is they really started to go that route, sport as the filler title, but not only have they backtracked they’ve had TM, Fanatec, Moza as partners like almost whimsically.

I’m disappointed as much as you. But I can’t live in disappointment, I can’t live in just driving so that’s what I do, and moan about it, but do it.

Yeah I mean don't get me wrong, I just don't engage with that side of the game much any more, as you've probably seen. I get my sim-racing fix on iRacing or AMS2, the former of which somehow gives you more production car variety in online racing than Gran Turismo does now.
But I check in from time to time and it's just a bummer to see nothing has changed. They'll drop an interesting race in once every 3 months, if we're lucky, and dash it away just as quick. I'll have a moan then or a comment on a Discord when a new week drops but they don't make it worth my time to think about it any more than that.

Hopefully I don't always look bored 😂 🙈 . This week I did look very bored (I didn't even realise, someone in Discord mentioned it so had to watch myself) on Redbull Ring.. mainly because it is redbull ring in underpowered group 4 cars so they just stick like glue. If you put the Mazda MX5 TC in there instead of Gr4 I'd have more fun because its a bit more lively and more to think about.

Fortunately, and this is one of the reasons I don't do this full time, because I like to enjoy what I do professionally. Fortunately video editing I do enjoy as well otherwise I wouldn't be racing them at all.

One of those "ones that got away" races. I can sounds like a broken record sometimes saying a race can be tough but this was one of them. I honestly cried in anguish on the last straight. However looking back I'm quite proud of being in the thick of it, nobody was out to ruin anyone else's race and just wanted to go for it, and as such I think this one of the best.

What was the game like before? I'm a relative newbie compared to you guys so this is all I know.

I may be in the minority here but tuning holds no interest to me, but cars in real life also don't really hold any interest, I don't even know what cars are FWD, RWD or AWD unless I see it posted on here.

I play the game purely for the competition so if it's a level playing field in terms of cars it wouldn't actually matter to me if we raced the same cars every week.

That being said, I do hope they bring some tuning races back in as it seems like if you like tuning then you REALLY like it so it would be good for that player base to get something they can really get their teeth stuck into and get a huge amount of enjoyment from.

On next weeks races - I've not actually raced the 3 tracks - only done LM reverse and have picked other combo's any time Fuji and GV have been on - where do we think will have the least amount of carnage? Bit sad that's now my decision making process.

Hoping Race A has a car with some ooomph to it as could be fun

If you have no passion for cars and no interest in learning anything about them then you quite literally should not be playing this game, full stop. It's not a product that is intended for you.

That’s right. I love staring at a pathetic Excel spreadsheet tracking engine swap drop rates so much that I wish I could waste the rest of my life doing it. Normal human interaction turns me off. Having a healthy conversation scares me because I don't know what a positive emotion means, so I cyber-stalk strangers' ages, look up their music playlists, and flood the forum with digital feces. Everyone should stop driving supercars and join my solemn vigil over rusted hatchbacks, because being an insufferable, negative gatekeeper is the only scientifically valid way to use GTPlanet.

Why? is there a test that I have to take on cars?

Are you ok? You don't seem like a happy or content person?

Probably not a game you'd be that interested in to be brutally honest, maybe to do the GT Academy stuff but it was fun first and competition second. Even a time on PS3 where you could train a B-Spec (AI) driver and have them race against other players B-Spec drivers.
The competition all came from the fun, they weren't chasing anything - you had shuffle (random car) races, a lot more rotating car categories, tuning races, different limits, all sorts. Not sure if it was in 6 (shuffles weren't for some reason either) but you could also loan other players cars which made everything a much better playing field.

You'd have more events at a time, more things to do, see more tracks more often. It was just fun. It made you want to learn more about things.
There's no reason some of this can't exist alongside them using Gr. categories over and over and over, but they just don't do it.

I think it's really poor of a car game like Gran Turismo to have players that don't understand drivetrains. Not a sleight on you, but the old games would teach you that natively. You wouldn't even know you'd learnt it. Everything is so sterilised now, and there's no reason to step outside your comfort zone. Never going to learn like that.

Mate, I wasn't the slightest bit interested in cars before I started playing GT all those years ago.

I'm into cars and Motorsport now BECAUSE of Gran Turismo, so please stick to speaking for yourself.

Oh wow, looks like they've really streamlined the offering and essentially taken the guts right out of it. Can see how that's frustrating for the out and out enthusiasts. But you're right, it wouldn't have been a game for me. Funnily enough my oldest/closest mate is a full blown petrol head and he played ever gran turismo and always tried to get me involved and now I'm playing it he doesn't

Do you get what you need in that respect from Iracing now?

Hopefully you guys get some of this added back in for GT8.

It's actually the opposite. The game started way back when as basically a road car tuner and mod game, with a focus on Japanese cars and culture to some degree. FFWD to GT7 and it has tried to please everyone, slowly but surely, generation to generation, it has added race cars, online racing etc. GT Sport added the dailys.

So you have two camps to some degree, the guys who wan their full featured Gran Turismo from 2003 with a focus on improved AI, tuning etc, then the guys that just race exclusively online. The online racing pays the bills, generates the income that keeps the game alive, so I suspect PD has put more into this, much to the ire of the "I want to mod a FTO all week" crowd. In a nutshell, as they've added content and tried to please everyone, they've sort of neglected the hard core GT fans.

Personally, I could honestly let the road car side of the game slide, I am content with TT's and online racing. But that's just me. The core feature to me is there's no other game that let's me login on a console, be mated with 15 guys roughly my pace and be up and racing in 5 minutes, there's literally no other option. I suspect I am a core user of the game, so middle aged, busy with work/kids/life etc and really value the ease of use to get racing online. Although I have been a car/motorsport guy since I was 4, I live and breathe car culture and love watching racing of ay formulae, always have.

This absolutely hits the nail on the head for my exact situation as well.

The only thing I would like would be bigger grids so you are always racing someone, then they can do longer races like the Le Mans one they had with more success as that race suffered from 16 people and a few quitting and then 12 people being completely strung out over a 50 min race.

Mmm yeah. A grown man crying about a fictional Daily Race rotation for the 400th time.

I’ve crunched the data on your post history, and your salt-to-fun ratio is completely unviable. If you spent half as much time looking at posts about my family as you do auditing Polyphony Digital’s weekly schedule, 'the wife' might actually remember your name. It’s a racing game, not a mandatory corporate shift. Turn off the PlayStation and go talk to your kids, touch some real asphalt.

Onto the topic at hand, decided to give the G70 a whirl and instantly went 3 tenths faster than my Atenza QT time. I just do not get along with the Atenza at all for some reason. Only issue with the G70 is it doesn't like the sausage kerbs and gets really unsettled so you get a bit burnt in the hustle and bustle of close racing at RBR.

Racing in close quarters last night with both cars, seems I am inherently VERY quick through T1 if i get it right, I gain on pretty any DRB driver there. However, I am losing out pretty consistently through the last left hander. I tried both wider and narrower lines but either lose too much time on entry or on exit, cannot find the right balance.

My thing with this is, do you really think they're putting more into the online? I don't think they're putting anything into the online. It's the exact same as the GT Sport formula but with less variety and with events more often being duplicated.
Not every week needs to be a tuning race but in a given month there's no reason for you to see Gr.3 and Gr.4 7/8 times - and again no reason for those events to be the whole class on the same tyres with no weather and no strategy.

They've got GT500s in there they can use (limiting it to the 90s ones) - they could limit it to the DBR9, M3 and F1 GTR - you know what I mean? The online is getting no love at all, and by not using what they already have and also not bringing in more of the old-school elements, they're just neglecting everybody.
You'd see all that in the old online.

It's all there for them, it's not like it's a case of wanting the cake and eating it too, they have the cake and let it go stale.

Thanks to the awesome TyrannoCyrusRex (Youtube) who always like myself ventures into races using antimeta cars. This time for Race C he suggested Mazda RX-Vision. Saw his lap guide & reasoning as to why he believes this car is good in the antimeta vid (posted below) & I tried the car myself this morning for the first time ever.

Wow....what a car. I was able to win my first race with this car & finish in 3rd after buying this car immediately after the victory. Cyrus was right....this car has a crazy top end speed. A little slow with initial acceleration but great cornering ability & feels glued to the track. I'll be racing with the Mazda for the next 4 days in Race C till Monday noon when GV takes its place with Gr.4.

The best thing about Cyrus's recommendations is that I've ended up trying & then loving the cars he suggested. SUch as this Mazda here, WRX (Gr.4) at CGV, C7 at Daytona etc. All these cars I hadn't driven even once till he recommended them & boy oh boy, it was great.

I agree they could do way more online, I guess my point is that as online has grown, it has taken resources from the development of the tuner/road car side that was once 99% of the focus back in the before times.

Mmm yeah. I see some of you casuals never actually grow out of the childish, short-sighted notion that raw top speed is the only metric that makes a vehicle. It’s a completely unviable way to look at automotive design, but I suppose parsing real engineering requires too much cognitive effort for the GT3-obsessed crowd on this forum.

If you actually bother to crunch the data on space efficiency and weight distribution, the first-generation Renault Twingo is mathematically one of the most iconic, masterfully packaged cars of the 1990s and an absolute legend. Please, grow up and step away from your copy-pasted LMH hypercars for five minutes. I’ll just sit here with my Max Tuning Database and laugh at your complete lack of taste

Then you aren't an example of who I'm on about. Falling in love with cars because of Gran Turismo is a beautiful thing and you should treasure it, but my issue is with the franchise tourists who literally just play this game for the daily races, make absolutely zero effort to try anything different or to learn things like tuning, and then exclusively ask PD to cater to them with more of the same garbage. They thought PD were "trolling" when Daily C was the N2-spec AE86s at Tsukuba, because these types are so utterly disconnected from anything other than Gr.3 and Gr.4 that they somehow couldn't even comprehend people racing the Toyota AE86, never mind it being based on a real-world racing series.

You're literally just asking an AI to try and "roast me" based on my post history. Give up already. Maybe make another alt account so you can send me more slurs in private messages.
