Can confirm that as well as being 3+ tenths faster, the L750 is much easier than the Genesis to get round Daytona.

Not as fun, its a bit flat to drive, but quicker.
I've noticed it now seems to be most of the top times, though some Genesises (Geninses?) are still up there...and that one 787B.

I may give that one a shot and see which one I like better. The seemingly-inconsistent redline in the Genesis as well as the obtrusive downshift blocking behavior into 2nd do cause some noticeable issues on some laps.

I picked up McLaren VGT and took first stint on Daytona - and I managed to get into silver zone:

Since I'm driving without HUD, one that has McLaren is great, better then game's default one.

I think there is a second more to find, if I drive well, and took the chicane fast...

I found some speed. Don't think i've been this high up the leaderboard before. It probably won't hold for a new PB placement tho.

Hello everyone! I don't have much time in GT7 right now, so every session counts 😁 I tried the Genesis at first, but I just can't figure it out, neither the gearshifts nor the throttle control. So I switched to the 787B and R18 for experimentation and was able to set consistent 1:33:8~, until I eventually settled on the Peugeot. And it's good! This car has so much downforce! A couple of times I could have set a low 1:32:XX, but either I made a mistake in turns 3 and 9, or those were invalid laps. Next time I'll pick my dualshock closer to Daytona, so now I'm wondering, friends - is this time enough for gold by the end of the time trial?

Well fishing was more important this morning so needed to remote when I got back so the wife could stream on the TV.
So without any expectations I did some Daytona laps, and thought I would try the L750R .... ok, this has got to be one of GT7's most ugly spaceship thing....it's hideous.... best view is from above.... 😂

Only solution to hammer the busstop is cutting half of the track on the entry and pray it doesn't understeer.

I did had a lot of trouble changing my breakingpoints compared to the Genesis, you can brake a lot later with the 750R, it feels slower but is more managable on throttle and that results in a faster infield, the Genesis is unbeatable on the straights.
So needed to realy run a few laps to get use to even rotate on first gear.

Scraping the tirewall T2 rotating in first gear but wings and mirrors don't invalidate right 😁😂

Crazy cutting shenanigans and a ugly butt

But.... it's definitely faster, I think a sub 31 is possible cause I had a terrible second sector but I absolutely yeeeted the busstop 😂😂

@Gomario JSP Very nice lap, and looking at it, I must say that you would benefit greatly from a proper steering wheel :dopey:

I also did my first session last night:

And just like the Viper Gr3 we had here some time ago, again I'm struggling with the second turn (the first right hander), I can do a proper S2, S3, no issues, but that damn right hander is a pain. I did manage to do two or three good first sectors (.630-650), but then I screw up S2, same old story. So it will take some mileage and number of attempts to break the 31 barrier, but it must be done, and that will be enough :)

I really wouldn’t have thought getting even close to a gold time would have been possible via remote play. I get huge amounts of lag anytime I use it. The best I can manage is driving a lap in an EV at the Special Stage Route X oval to do the daily marathon when I’m away from home.

I’d say you’re probably safe at a 1:32.7; I think the WR time may fall by another tenth or so since the TT is still new, but I can’t see it dropping more than that 🙂 and good time there, congrats!!

Yeah, I can attest to that. In fact I feel a bit stupid for having spent more than an hour yesterday trying to get below 1:31.5. With the Peugeot I had this after 15 minutes:

This thing is so much easier to control especially on corner exits. And I like the sun roof in VR :) ... if only the sound wasn't so dull ...

Whoa, go easy there, mate! Don't say stuff like this just when I had some hope I might be able to catch you. 🤣 Two more tenths should absolutely be possible for me, but sub 31 is a tall order.

Could some please advise on the optimum shift point in the Genesis please? I keep trying different shifts and I simply cannot work out the ideal point. Thank you! 😁
Trying to shift when the bar blinks is an exercise in frustration, PD entered the wrong number for the revbar. At high speed there are often two gears that are almost identical in power output, so don't take the revbar graphs as absolute. Compare it with the overlayed power curves to see when it does and doesn't matter to shift 'optimally'.

I know, it has to come one day 🤣, but I keep getting other things that have priorety 🤣🙈🙈

Nice time already buddy!
S2 is a nightmare 🤣🤣, but we will see if the motivation is there try to sub 31 ....

@crome I am positive that you'll pass me, GR1 has never been a strong point for me and I can remember you were fast a* with the previous Genesis at st Croix? Matter of time!
🙏

Crazy bunch of fast people here these days 🤣

Not a fan of Gr.1. Give me slow boring family cars any day of the week and then drive the nuts off them, but I had a go at this.

First session and I think I’ll leave this one here. I could go quicker but the force feedback was beginning to hurt my arm and I didn’t want to spend the time finding Gr.1 specific tune for now.

This’ll do.

I found the L750 very confusing in VR as to when to shift and the view out the front is horrible. So I went with the Genesis.

Got some more time to go back at the Lexus @ The Glen combo and dropped down from a 2:02.8xx to a 2:02.527.

There is maybe a tenth or two left in there (theoretical best from today's shortish session was only a .402) so I think I am happy with that - I know I can do the first couple turns better, but I'll have a hard time matching the rest with the sometimes unpredictable weight transfer, so I think this is good enough place to call it, before it irritates me...or my TV pops up with something else it thinks the end of a lap is a good time to tell me about. 🤣😭

I enjoyed this TT though, unlike the Car That Shall Not Be Named at the Track That Is To Remain Nameless combo.

My fastest time in the Genesis. Not the nicest car to drive so I switched to the Peugeot. My session last night was good and the signs are promising because my best invalid lap was a 1:32.384. A smoother power delivery and less understeer is sure to help me where I need it most.

NO Michael NO.....this is sooo not right,
You have to reistate the lap before .......🤣

I was around 3 tenths faster during thebl whole session on the infield today but around 2 tenths slower in the busstop 🤣🤣🤣 didn't work out this morning 🤣

@Vule Holy.....**** hauulliinnngg with them big boys for real, I tried to follow you, I am loosing it all on the exits, and when I do have a .7xx split when running up the bank I completely binn the busstop 🤣

Crazy fast lap buddy, congrats!

went to 31.190......that's half a second 😱🤣🙏🙏

@Gomario JSP wow seems like I just got away for today at least, but not for long if I don't do my homework 🤣

So here we go: I found those two tenths I promised (well almost) primarily on the back of a very good bus stop run, and I can also see where more time can be gained. I played around with the data logger and it's actually very helpful here:

This is the corner at the end of S2 (leaving the infield entering the oval). You can see how P1 (yellow) modulates throttle a bit before flooring it at the spot I marked. I instead go full throttle right from the apex, but get punished by TCS 2 without even realising it. Within the second that this goes on I go from a 1 km/h gap to 5 km/h which costs me almost two tenths.

Won't be able to play for the next few days, but it'd be interesting to see if I can get a similar curve sticking with TCS 2 but just not overusing it, or if TCS 0 is really objectively faster here. Great tool!

Yeah very difficult corner it is, I know all about it 🤣 and is a real weak spot.

I have not used the datalogger yet, but maby I should ....most of the time I know were I stuffed up and just have to better that turn, but I know IF all goes wel.......but yeah.. 🤣🤣

My last lap was kind of the same, descent S1.....bad S2 due to stufffing up the first righthander in S2..but had a yeeeet of a busstop again 🤣
