Morning friends!

Very quick pit stop for me as life is incredibly hectic, in fact last night might be my last session of the year due to work commitments. Improvements at WG but left some time on the table again, it’ll do and I think if this is to be my last I’ll have kept my streak of finishing in the top 100 in every trial I’ve attempted in 2025

(Mainly because I did NOT attempt the Yaris at LL 😄)

So if this is it enjoy the rest of the year everybody, I’ll check in when I can!

Oh damn. I think I will come back to Colorado Springs and try one last time for gold on a rental. Totally forgot about those rim shenanigans. But it is probably skill issues anyways.

I always apply a livery I like and they often come with new tires. Is there a way to check the original tires including size and offset and such without buying the car again? Or could someone check and post the tire specs here? Then I could check wether my livery has changed them.

And does anybody remember what we had found out before? I think it was the Lake Louise TT where the rim impact was first discovered or widely discussed here.
You can check and change after you put the livery on.
Go to the wheel rims area, click on the rim that is currently fitted and whatever it tells you there will be the size and offset fitted.
You can then change these back to default whilst keeping the same rims, however you may lose the colour of the rims if they have painted them.
In this case just go to the livery editor, create design using existing style and paint the colour on. If you want the exact same colour you can check this in the livery editor before you change the rim offset

I don't believe it!!!.....can you do TTs with ‘wide tyres’ and ‘wide offset’...???🤔🤔🤔
I'd be very surprised.....

In my opinion, just like the BoP for power, wheel specifications are back to ‘standard’ regardless of the livery....
Besides, ‘wide’ cars are not allowed, and on “normal” cars, wide offsets would cause a lot of problems... with steering because of the ‘wheel arches’...

It's happened to me before... I had to modify my rims or raise the ride height...

I feel pretty content with my bronze for the one at a reversed Colorado Springs, as that seems very much in-line with other dirt/snow time trials I've done. As for the 2J @ Watkins Glen, I'm similarly very comfortable with my silver time, which is less than a second off from the gold threshold - though I still might try to get gold for that one between today and tomorrow.

Did my second 10 laps stint at WG, I have a hard time adapting to the Chaparral, that thing is really reactive and I never now how much to push in turns; silver is not too far but will need at least one other test.

Did another attempt at CS, but no improvement tonight.

Surpisingly, Watkins Glen suits the Dishwasher quite nicely! Unless you hit the first kerb of the bus stop chicane incorrectly causing your dishwasher to become a pogo stick.

Apart from the bus stop, this car was an absolute pleasure to drive. Very easy to carry speed, and with some patience you can easily avoid lighting the rear wheels up on corner exit.

Best lap felt pretty rough around the edges, you'll see I have a few snaps and squirrels on corner exit, trying to get the power down too quickly. In the end, optimum was a 28.697, so I've left 2 tenths on the table, which would've put me around 23rd. Guess I'll have to settle for top 50 (hopefully that holds).

I only wish there was a no chicane version of Watkins Glen in the game, the bus stop really ruins the flow of this track.

Hey folks,

This is to let you know I am still alive and haven‘t abandoned the game or, even worse, you guys :)

Just not finding the time to play a whole lot these days for a variety of reasons that I won‘t bore you with. So to recap my experiences with the three current events:

1. Colorado Springs

Tried it for exactly one (invalid) lap. Of course I knew already by the time I entered that it was poised to be one of the hardest TTs to gold, statistically speaking. But I also continue to suck badly at everything that isn‘t tarmac, so considering these two factory I decided to chicken out :D Having said that, major kudos to some of you guys who absolutely dominate this combo @Barareklam @half_sourly 😮🙌

2. Watkins Glen

Great VR experience, but other than that just a weird car I didn‘t really connect with. Did a single short session, enough for a safe gold, but had no ambition to push beyond that.

3. Interlagos

Easily the most fun of the three and the only one I actually spent some time with and might spend some more. I like how managing the throttle is like a dance on the razor‘s edge trying to control the oversteer. I had my current PB pretty early on and kind of out of nowhere, but then couldn‘t get anywhere near it. I did a second session today where I slowly built up some consistency and can somewhat regularly get below 1:48. Two more tenths should be possible I guess.

Happy racing guys! You‘re the best!

... and over the line we go in Colorado Springs.

Apart from the left after the second split where I got too sideways this lap felt pretty solid. I was on for a .5 for the end but too much scrubbing speed there cost me roughly two tenths.

For my taste, too lotto reliant with the jumps, otherwise the sliding was pretty fun but not one I'd pursue longer than necessary. Also unfathomable how we were in the Yaris for a third time, other cars that fit in a rally setting do exist in the game... Pretty devoid of creativity and a terrible choice of car for that reason alone.

Congratulations to @Barareklam and @half_sourly, amazing times!

Looking forward to give the 2J a go tonight. That's a car I've fond memories of.

Faaaaar out! I was ready to give in. My daughter let me have about 3 hours sleep last night. But I got there: 1:26.742 at Colorado Springs!

I've decided it's time to buy a PS5 with the announcement of Spec III and the Power Pack, looking forward to seeing how that affects my times - might have to see if Dad will give mehis PSVR2 (which he isn't that keen on) so I can try it on GT7 as well

I like Interlagos but I'm always having a rather hard time there.
Started this on Monday. Got a 1:52.070 within a few laps. Bronze but close to silver. Did about 10 more laps but just couldn't improve.

Today I did 5 more laps, still no improvement. So I came here to watch some video. Found @Gomario JSP 's lap, watched it twice.
3 laps later:

🙂

Still not great but at least a (hopefully) safe silver time.

2 tries on CS, one this morning, one at lunch break, this morning was really bad, with best lap over 1:28. At lunchbreak better, came less than 0.03s from my current best lap.

That TTs is showing me my limits, even when I do a good lap, without (apparent) mistakes, the end result can vary wildly. S2 is my bane as always.

Same. I tried it again last night, and only managed to barely improve, to 1:30.8. Still Bronze. I have no idea how to get any faster, even after watching videos. Loaded the number 2 ghost, and he was out of sight by the 5th or 6th turn.

@Lomic @MMX try to minimize inputs as much as you can, smooth is fast. if you go (slide) too much sideways, you kill the speed, so try to keep your front wheels pointing to next apex as much as you can while keeping car steady and not rotated too much. A small lift off before sharp corners helps you both rotate and get faster exit.
Mistah MCA shows good lap guide, maybe to check it again?

I know all of that, and I try to do exactly that, which does not mean I succeed. I used Mistah's ghost but I prefer using @330_D's 1:26.258 one. Am at his butt in S1 and S3, but S2 I am losing ground despite all my efforts.

@MMX : don't forget to set the ghost to reset, so you can follow again at the start of each sector. And apply @Barareklam's advices, you surely wipe the floor too much as I was doing in the beginning
