I have a yellow R34 with loads if wins in Europe and America, but have traditionally relied on my R32 for Tokyo. The 12 lap race was too much for it so I shipped my R34 over, changed the wing to reduce downforce and messed around with the settings until I had the pace, balance and fuel efficiency to win. Loved it so much, I decided to buy the 2nd hand R34 and leave that one in Japan, tuned specifically for this race. Went for a very subtle colour.

Working on a new NUR toy, this time with its engine on the wrong side of the car.
I present you:

Specs for now are:

Racing suspension
Sloted discs with 4 piston calipers
Semi-racing exhaust
Racing exhaust manifold
Weight ballast ( 50kg on the font of the car )
Sports Soft tires
Weight reduction lvl 1
LSD ( no, not that one! )

Good for 293bhp, its fun car to drive some laps around the ring.

Taking the Spyder for a quick blast and saw the sign in the window.

Having a look at it. Only has suspension, chip, race exhaust. Worth 255 BHP all up. I even like the Advan GT wheels. Might just leave it as is and see how it goes at a track day.

Patch 1.13's physics overhaul brought the fun back to tuning in this game, so I decided it was time to build an actual car for myself.

I decided to go to Cars 4U and see what they had. They always have a couple hidden gems in the back corner. There I found this pair. Some worn out ex tuner car and an rare trim level AE86. The AE86 was cool but everyone and their aunt has an AE86 these days. Apparently the NSX has sat for 8 years without being so much as turned over. Sold as seen, no refunds. I couldn't pass it up though, not everyday you find a used NSX Type R.

20830023161831980.jpg

Money changed hands and I got the keys. I walked over to my new financial mistake and there was apparently just enough juice in the battery for me to unlock the car with the fob. That's a good sign, right?

20829319219517045.jpg

So I get a jump pack on it and turn the key. Instant life. That's Honda reliability for you. The idle was rough and smoke poured out of the twin titanium exhausts. It definitely had 8 year old petrol in the tank, but that exhaust note was something else. Nevertheless, I put it into gear and moved it under its own power into the daylight. The light did it no favours. What a piece.

20829931497141455.jpg

I had the NSX recovered to Ishikawa Body, where it got a wash, a full service and some fresh petrol. It ran a lot better after that, almost like it hadn't been sat for almost a decade.

20829934282563886.jpg

Ishikawa then gave the exterior a going over, fixing all the scratches and dents. Now what's what a car worth half a million is supposed to look like. The full restoration is on hold until I revive the devil that rests within this car.

20829473592838827.jpg

And the only way to revive the devil is to take it to its spiritual birthplace for a lengthy test and tune day.

To be continued...

Update: Before the GT7 “shutdown”, good thing I got the body kit sorted. Made sure the wheel & tyre package cleared. Put some steelies on it and shipped overnight to Tokyo(Hey, it worked for the Fast and Furious gang).

The wonderful folks at Flat 4 Garage did a special thing. Had a bit of extra credit and they gave the Mk1 the ultimate front clip weight reduction(doors too!).
View attachment 1126250

Got it back, just in time for a respray in some crazy lightweight paint application. Some more schnell bits under the hood(plus, some stickers - I mean, who doesn’t love some stickers?) and it should be ready to go in a couple days, for some test set ups.

Dang, how did ya break the front ball joint? Just kidding. I like red.

Trial Mountain, home, at least it was until the FIA screwed everything up. The old settings from a decade ago did not gel well with the repaved roads and the different layout. The back end felt loose compared to the relatively grippy front end. A far cry from the balance it was known for.

20970415567583098.jpg

Every corner the back end just swung out. Weird thing was, the car never felt out of control. Almost like it was happy to be driven again. Was it doing it on purpose?

20970418808767672.jpg

Every couple of laps I pitted in to tweak the settings. Managed to trim the lap time by a solid 4 seconds just by taming the back end. Surprisingly, none of the coilovers or the adjustable arms were seized up from sitting.

20970337769039175.jpg

Suddenly it felt like the old car it used to be. Then I realised how it got all those battle scars in the first place. This thing loves being at the limit. Puckered butts galore at Ishikawa Body.

20970008115500414.jpg

I felt like I'd gotten all I could out of the car in that session, so I took the car back to Japan and borrowed Amuse's workshop for a bit. It was time to splash out on some upgrades and bring the NSX back to current standards. Everything was restored or replaced, even down to the bolts you'll never see again.

20829763040829206.jpg

And I've always wanted to give it a carbon bonnet.

20830127761934411.jpg

Back to Trial Mountain we went and it was bliss. She responds better to inputs now and just look at that arch tuck.

20969999642393912.jpg

After some blazing laps it's safe to say, the old demo car still has some life in it yet.

Currently working on building the ideal track day Integra. I started out surprised by how fun it was to throw around a track, and surprised by how much bite the factory brakes had. Sent it to Spoon to install some parts, and I'm loving the murdered out black look of it. I upgraded the suspension and added a more powerful turbo so far, and this is proving to be an awesome little car good for a 1:10 lap at Tsukuba.

Update on the DC2: I’ve done loads of tuning, and after wrapping the wheels in racing slicks this thing can go fast. I’ve shaved six seconds off of my lap time at Tsukuba, so now my time is 1:04.

I’ve been traveling around to practice at Trial Mountain and Willow Springs. I haven’t installed any permanent engine mods (like bore ups, balancing, etc) but this little Honda still flys around the track. The suspension has been changed to help reduce the under steer it gets from being FWD.

I started a second project, I found a cheap GT86. It’s pretty fast considering it’s reputation as ‘not a true sports car’. I’ve done some bolt ones and sorted out the fitment.

I sent the 86 to Hachi Farm, and got a a widebody and new bumper. They also did a bit of work on the exhaust system, to help squeeze a bit more horsepower from the engine, and added some stickers! It’s still naturally aspirated, so the next step in the build is adding forced induction. I need to get that bumper painted 😅.

A few weeks ago I managed to get an LT1 for my 2015 Mazda Miata. 854hp and 2,119 pounds later and I managed to make the thing drivable. Me and a friend decided to take it to Special Stage Route X to do some top speed trial runs. Turning up the nitrous to the highest amount but keeping the slipstream/grip levels real, we managed to hit 300mph. I made a video to mark the occasion

That’s crazy.

I’ve had my N2 stable built up for a long time. Started with Lev8ns and added Truenos. Now, I’m building more S.S. versions for extra punch. So far, for my Tec Art’s N2 up to 250 BHP. The real car has 275PS, as shown in the video below. There are gearing specs and some suspension numbers if anyone are looking to build semi-accurate N2 machines. Been waiting for the “return” of these cars since GT2.

I’ve also been running my AE86 GT300 spec(also based on the S.S.). It’s got a turbo making 317BHP. Ain’t the fastest in its class, but still fun to drive versus it’s rivals of the era.

I got the Integra painted, so now it looks the part as a race car. I’m probably done upgrading it, because I’m satisfied with how it’s been tuned.

I’ve done some modding related to basic horsepower gains for the 86. I added a Medium RPM turbo and a racing crankshaft. It’s about 600pp, and pretty quick.

I’ve done some more engine mods to bump up the power a little bit, and also done more extreme weight reduction. After updating the steering and handbrake it’s easier to throw sideways around the track. The suspension has been tuned a little after testing some more.

Truly sick car.

Set it up to replicate this

554BHP/1385kg/PP 690.85
Full Race Suspension(generic settings are exactly like the Gr.4 cars)
Racing: Hard
Full custom diff default settings 10/35/45
Stock transmission(the gearing is perfect as is)
Racing clutch
Carbon brakes
Medium rear wing
Added the front splitter to match Gr.4 class downforce(180/260)

One of the best handling cars I own. Solid performer.

Got a call from a guy who worked at the taxi depot. "Want an old white Subaru? The owner skipped town and aint coming back. He wants rid." Of course I took the deal. Who doesn't turn down a cheap GC8?

20830239483934087.jpg

So I pop the bonnet and see that this thing has been treated to a 2.1 stroker and a fat HKS turbo already. Jackpot. I get a jump pack on and it starts on the button. Absolutely purring at idle.

20829917239939580.jpg

I treat the thing to a wash and discover some extra goodies. Bilstein suspension, big Brembo brakes, the whole tuner car shopping list ticked off.

20829471161717659.jpg

The next day I shook the rust off it and did some test and tune at Hakone. I brought the Supra ST along for benchmarking and the GTO as a camera car. Turns out the old Subaru is an actual weapon with the right setup.

I made a Gazoo Racing inspired livery for the 86, I think the car looks better on the racetrack now.

I bought engine balance tuning, just to give it a little more power. After upgrading the tires, the 86 can handle more extreme races where it needs grip. I sent it to Kyoto Driving Park, where after testing for a couple sessions, the suspension settings were perfected.

I'm satisfied with the 86 now, it could be lighter, have more power, and have grippier tires, but I'm happy with how it is. It's only on sports tires, but is still a blast to drive!

I'm starting another project, an Evo X. I got one lightly modded, and I'm going to try to make a Tsukuba time attack car.

M2 CS Racing
450BHP/1495kg, ECU, Racing exhaust, full suspension, Racing clutch, RH slicks, Rays wheels, roll cage

So far, done 1 minute around Tsukuba. Solid little car.

I found a crazy deal on an old R32. Apparently the motor pretty much blew up about 2 and a half decades ago, and the owners had it parked and sitting ever since. According to him he had it set up as a highway racer, Wangan Midnight style.

After I towed it home, I gave it a well-needed wash and started trying to figure out what to do with the engine.
IMG_0209.jpeg
IMG_0210.jpeg

A buddy of mine told me about an R35 he saw in a junkyard, it showed up a couple weeks ago totaled after getting t-boned running a red light. He says the back of the car is destroyed, but the front end seems good, which is giving me an idea.

So, I bought the VR38 off the junkyard owner, and after getting all the hardware I needed, I set aside a weekend to add another 1.2 liters of displacement to the GT-R. With the new engine in, I started on fixing up some other parts of it, to make it more of a circuit racer. I switched in a carbon fiber hood, and took out some of the non-essential parts, like the AC. After that I got a replica of the old JGTC GT-R’s wing. With a new set of tires replacing the nearly bald 90s ones, and some bolt-ons, it’s ready to drive.
IMG_0212.jpeg
IMG_0211.jpeg
IMG_0213.jpeg

I took the new and improved Skyline to Tsukuba, where I clocked a couple laps. Next step will definitely be to swap out the old suspension for some stiffer coilovers, because the old suspension has way too much roll. The ATTESA system didn’t exactly hold up after the years, so it’ll definitely need a new diff to help fix the little traction issues.

I did some more real world testing, me and a few buddies went “to Mexico” and did a couple top speed runs before the morning traffic started. Might need a couple new gauges because my speedometer maxes out around the middle of 4th gear.
