It may take a few minutes or hours or even longer to get "used to it". Sometimes when I first put on the headset it's a little worse than I remember, and it takes a few minutes to get acclimated to it again.

Pretty soon your eyes and brain adjust to it and you just drive and stop worrying about every little difference in the gfx. After a while it's like wearing a motorcycle helmet or something. I wonder how many people check it out for a couple minutes and make up their mind they don't like it when if they stuck with it a little bit longer and gave it more of a chance they might actually really enjoy it? Something to think about.
Yea of course you'd get used to it over time. No different to switching to 1080p from 4k. Initially it will be an obvious downgrade and difficult not to notice, but over time you'd get used to it. Then when you switch back to 4k you'd notice just how much sharper everything looks. Same goes for fps, you could adapt to racing at 30fps as we did back in the day. VR currently just feels like you're in a virtual world with mild myopia. When I say the tech isn't there yet that is what I mean. Once they fix the blurring, chromatic aberrations and mura it will be at it's full potential.
Still a unique experience though and much more immersive despite its short comings

I never had problems with tracking, i only use normal light from room that its placed behind me on the roof, many people have extra lights pointed or in front of them and reflective areas which for sure mess up with tracking, my sugestion is place your rigg in a conffy place with walls in front/ one side, turn off the lights in front of the VR headset use only ilumination thats behind you and test it that way...

If you use a cellphone to take a picture of a lamp youll see that the cameras cant capture and focus any details arround the lamp or the lamp itself.., i think maybe one of the problems could be related to bad ilimunation including external street natural lighting placement i guess, like windows/glasses, LEDs and so on.

Has anyone been experiencing random screen going black with a white line then progressively going across? Has been happening more often now and I’m not sure what could cause. Almost seems like more often after the update.

Update:
I’m using a usb extension and have been. Checked the plug connection to be seated well and will see if that helps. Will report back if it works.
What an odd issue. I’ve been fortunate not to experience any issues with VR. Mine had been flawless.

I bet the usb extension is the culprit. Do you absolutely need it? I had issues using a usb extension to my wheel. I would get random wheel disconnects which is absolutely horrible in Daily races. I made adjustments so I no longer need the extension. Been good ever since.

Yeah. Thanks for the input and thoughts on my situation. Never had issues with my wheel thankfully.

When I took a looked last night, I realized that I had left a second extension connected when I had purchased one that fit my length a little better. Took that one out so I’m down to one atm.
If I absolutely have to I could bring the ps5 closer but it would be beside me and not in front.

So far so good. I’ll know for sure after a couple of days if that second extension was the cause.
🍻

Anybody else notice that the Ferrari VGT has an unusual amount of information you can make use of in VR? On the wheel alone it has a track map, lap time and (coolest) live and responsive tire temperatures for all 4 tires! I noticed when mucking around in Broad Bean and realised my right side tires started turning orange but inside remained green. I assumed they were just repeating the tire wear info, but definitely not (no tire wear in TT). This is very cool- does any other car show tire temp info in VR?!

The main cool thing is you can turn off all the artificial aids and HUD elements, and still get a lot of info from the cockpit. Almost feels worth having a thread detailing that dynamic info each cockpit provides and how usable that info is in VR. My experience is the race cars (esp GT1) often make the information simple and very easy to process (which makes sense given the work load of a real driver). I’m not a fan of any LCD panels (often poor contrast, which is realistic). And whilst I can often not read the numbers on dials, I’m rarely doing that in real life (you just learn what the needle position means).
I have been racing about Ferrari VGT as one of the best VR experiences since I got my headset. Before VR I had no time for VGT cars but the Ferrari showed me the way for reasons you capture here

i noticed the Corvette C8 has a HUD display in the front window. I wonder how this looks in VR. Can anyone that has a real life car with a HUD check it in VR? Does it look good or feel weird?
I haven't drove a Vet yet but I did see the windshield HUD in VR in the new Mazda3 and thought it looked very realistic.

Anybody else getting an issue with a black screen with a green wireframe appearing when driving the new Audi rs5 dtm, happens with head movements, like looking right in my case, doesn’t happen with any other car
Yes! Exactly this! Just saw this post, but I thought it was just me. I love that car. Happens to me on Sardegna usually when taking the last sharp left-hander. I guess it's some kind of bug. Hope they correct it :)

This has something to do with the small cockpit and is triggered by leaning your head and whole body into a turn. Like you’re violating a boundary.
I had a bit of this happening last weekend doing Nations in the Audi too.

Another car you’ll have this effect to even greater extent is the CLK.

Even at Brands Hatch in the RCZ I pushed the leaning boundaries a bit in a few turns over the last week and saw the green start to appear.

I just take note and try to not lean quite as much once discovered.

On some vehicles the boundary is set a bit tighter than others, the new Audi RS 5 DTM is one doesn't take much to trigger the effect, sometimes going up hill or banking can trigger the wire frame effect, because the game is locked to the horizon your driver can move forward or side ward to cause it. Other cars I can pretty much lean my head in to the passenger seat.

There are a few cars with this problem unfortunately, the GR.2 Mercedes CLK being one of them. Hopefully PD has a running list and they'll be updating the limits for these cars in a coming patch.

This only becomes an issue when your head moves through objects like the head protection or the door. To fix this PD would have to limit head movement. Not sure how it would affect the overall experience.

I wish they would just remove the black screen, they could keep the silly green wireframe, just have the car turn invisible. I wiped out so much during the Suzuka daily race a couple of weeks ago as the Formula car had super tight limits.

Last night I was having a good few races online and then the super formula around Suzuka came up, it was a nightmare (even though I still came first), almost every corner I was treated to the black screen with green wire mesh, thought I was playing Battlezone lol,....anyway, there should be an easy fix, just like ghosting, make the part that your head may go through transparent when the collision or hit detection happens. I don't care how they do it, it cant be worse than taking me out of the game, which is what is happening as it stands.

Since adding "posters" to my game room I haven't had the Cant Detect Surroundings issue almost at all. I think once in the past couple of weeks. My times have still overall been faster in VR and I've noticed my ability to brake sooner because of the feeling of me about to plow into an oncoming car. It's a much more instinctual reaction vs pancake where I just kinda barrel into things because my brain doesn't really register them as real. I feel like I crash way less.

I don't even play that much (about once a week since launch) and my eyes have seemingly already grown accustomed to it. I just put on the headset l, adjust for a few seconds, then drive. It looks great.

You get used to it after a couple hours, but after a week without playing (at least for me) that goes away

Yeah I meant the first time ever using VR it might take hours. But yeah for me it's only a few min at most if at all. Just sucks that people throw it on and make up their mind instantly, when they might really like it if they gave it a chance. I'm sure that happens, their loss I guess.

I drive that car all the time sitting in my Trak Racer rig and looking through corners by turning and leaning my head, and I almost never get the wireframe action. Certainly nothing that causes me issues in general with driving the car. 🤷‍♂️
Love formula cars in real life and in games. I’m geeked we’re getting the new SF.

Maybe your head is smaller than mine  Cant wait for the 23 either

I must admit I went back to pancake doing my dailies earlier, and just revisited PSVR2 after I received my VROptician prescription lenses.

Just noticed that after the last patch back mirrors in VR is no longer in 2D but have correct perspective projection (moving head will change what I saw in mirror), but, some "back mirrors" that's actually in-car monitor of back-viewing camera also got this treatment. Like the center mirror of Audi RS5 DTM. I looked back not only once to check if I really can see through my back windshield ... (and the roof of RS5 has some spots that would leak light when under sunlight). 🤣

And the temperature here in Taiwan is raising, it's now 29 C (~85 F). I would say that Sony choose winter to release PSVR2 is rather clever ...

I doubt it, my hat/helmet size is 7 5/8 🤣
I definitely see the issue in the RS5 DTM car. In the SF19, I just don’t move all over the place when driving. Maybe the way I fit in my seat helps.
In general, in the couple cars I’ve run into the issue with, I guess I just adapt by making a mental note and trying to keep myself within the range that works. I do agree in general that in some cars they need to update something to allow a bit more range of head position. I like to look all around and lean to the side and also forward looking at the interiors and I do get annoyed when I get the wireframe. Especially when some cars allow a pretty wide range of movement like that and others barely allow any.

The one thing about the psvr that really bugs me is that the position in the car does not stay where you set it, as soon as you go to a menu and back to car its moved position again. Surely it could be locked into the position we choose? The default position is always off to the left and too close to the steering wheel, which means you have to pause the game then turn your head slightly to the right and further forward to get it all in the correct drivers position. This is ok when racing alone but no good what so ever for online races.

I've been thinking about this. For me the default position in most cars is too low. Probably because I'm tall irl and sitting so low feels weird. In some cars it's too close to the steering wheel but in some it's too far. Always dead center though. I'm wondering if it's the same for everyone? I've been experimenting if play area and floor height affects the default position but it seems it doesn't, which is a shame.

Well I am sitting in a rig which never changes position! The default position on my vr is always too far left and too close, height too low. I do not understand why it does not stay in one position until we move it? Perhaps they will put out a patch to fix it? Incidentally does anyone have an official link to where we post problems?

Yes position is too close with many cars. Wish it would save positions for vr in the saved game file for each car.

I also have wandering cinema screen and vr position during race when i look around too much, I think that might be to do with me sitting very close to a wall to my side and the cameras dont like it.
having the tracking guide border on the TV makes no difference.

Well, I've finally achieved 'A' rating online!! (I know many users on this board will be rolling eyes and thinking big deal). I have always hovered around the low 'B' / high 'C' rating, never being able to get the good consistent lap times to improve on this. Since getting used to PSVR2 it has been 'relatively' easy. Could be coincidence but it certainly feels better and I'm finding keeping the racing line, hitting apexes and so forth much easier than my previous bumper cam

Well done for getting A! It takes a lot of effort, I was A for a while :) going back down was easily achieved after a few A drivers run you off road. As for being faster in VR sadly I am not, perhaps with time I would get use to it. I love the immersion in VR but its just not 4k! and not a clear enough image for me.. maybe PS5 Pro will change things but I doubt it
