I sent a PM to GTA_Phreak to ask for some notes on the route he took.

I suspect it was somewhat similar to that taken by myself and SammiTougeGirl.
Although my split times were in multiples of 30s, all but the first and last sections could be completed in 25s. I just never got a perfect run.

That was a bit of a surprise. I honestly didn't expect that would be fast enough to win.

Sorry for not posting route details, - I thought a video would be better so here you go: Video

A time in the low 2:30's should be possible on that route.

For the bandwidth challenged here's a map : Route

I'm having trouble viewing the video - not that I really need to see it. Your time would have been just possible even with the sharp turns I made round the train station in Los Santos.

It really seems that route choice through the middle of Los Santos made all the difference here.

Very nice, very clean driving, and very much like my route through San Fierro. It was not until you crossed the railtracks on the sidewalk that I saw ANY difference between your route and mine. We started the same, used the same sidewalks, and even hit the same bit of wall!

Later on things were a little different. I used the opposite verge coming out of the first tunnel and this let me turn into the second without braking - hitting off the wall instead.

Cross country I turned off the dirt-track before the top of the hill, and used the stars to navigate through the cornfields to the flyover.

Los Santos was different. I went with the flow of traffic in preperation for the turn, whereas your turn led you to go against the traffic. The last section was so smooooth though. Other than slowing down for that truck, and the final corner, you barely had to lift off the gas. I on the other hand would invariable hit a lamppost, an oncomming car, and the wall of the trainstation. Little wonder you beat me by 14 seconds!
