Great Chris, It'll sure be nice to crawl back into the RX7. Was looking for a race this evening and now I got it. And who doesn't like Trail Mountain? Well I guess we'll find out soon.

Good Luck everyone, Season 5, yes FIVE (did we even have computers in season one?)of the beloved JGTC running under a new Banner and a new Task Master. Thanks in advance Chris, glad you didn't or wouldn't let the series die a quick death. I think it better that we kill her very slowly:) Most all of us here are pretty good at screwing things up. Bet we can do two more series at least before we're driving head to head in GT5, then we'll find out that we all drive like blueheads and have been grossly exagerating our times for the last several years. What a visual, all of us running into each other trying to find the closest parking spot next to the ladies room.

Finally!!!
The long waited SuperGT season is here.Maybe the first or maybe the fifth, who counts?
Good choice for the pre-season,Chris.

Ahh yes, One of my favorites. Glad there is pre-season testing.:)
Even though I didn't race last year i'm sure this will be full of surprises.

For this do we just run the cars the way they are? I didn't see any settings.

Ah, how ironic. I just came off a win here in another series so maybe I can get a good start. Splits will be posted shortly.

Hey Chris, what are the rules for discussing times? And don't tell me the "same as in JGTC" cause I don't remember them at all:)

By the way I've run it 3 times already using different gearing, tires and pitting strategy. It sure is nice getting back to the RX7, what a dream car, especially after you've put thousands of miles on it.

Does this mean that we put what laps we pitted and reason for pitting?

I am sure of it.
I hope you won't be 3'58 faster than the others this time like it happened in the C-class...:grumpy:

Fast-lap times to 1 decimal only. ex. "best i could muster is a 1.26.7xx" etc. That shouldbe more than enough for everyone.

@ Racecar: ex. Start RS/RS; Lap6 RS/RS; Lap 12 RS/RS (2 stops)
EX. Start RM/RM; Lap8 RM/RM (1 stop)

differences in pit strategy will be shown in results.

Ooo! It feels good to be playing with the old girl again! ;)

Done one run! Hit a fastest lap of 1'26.0xx, with all but L1, L2 & L10 within 0.8xx!

Hey Chris! Do we HAVE to pit? Cos if we do......I'll have to start using softs! :sly:

*EDIT*
Thought I could just jump back in the old girl and be at top form instantly, WRONG!
Took me 3 runs to get the mojo back properly!
Still no pit on Mediums all round, fastest lap is now a 1'24.3xx & taken 7 seconds off overall!

Sweet!

Neil

I CAN READ TREBEK! :dunce: :scared: Didn't realize, my mistake.

Well I've done about 3 tries. I'm cautiously optimistic, a good performance here means a restriction in the next few rounds. I'm confident though.

My first time out, I kept hitting the AI and getting penalties. :grumpy: I restarted and made sure to stay away from the AI and within a few laps I was hitting 1'23's. I stayed consistently in the 1'23's until the tires came up to temp and hit a 1'22.8. During that session I still got 2 penalties.

Second time out, Once again I was consistent in the 1'23's. Dipping to 1'22.9 once the tires were heated and spiking to 1'24's when they were yellow.

Third time out was much of the same. I finally dipped into the low 1'22's. With a 1'22.3. There's still much to be taken out of these tires. I'm sure, GT500 will see 1'20's. Maybe, I'm just being optimistic.

On an entirely different note, I noticed that my name is spelled wrong in the table. It's dumkoPf not dumkomf.

The AI's must be set at +10, you'll be disqualified if you don't. Keep in mind in the past 4 seasons as well as the present all races are set with the AI's to +10. Unless Chris decides to change it.
Just don't want you getting introuble there man!

Did I miss something? :)

I edidted it.:dopey: Thanks for the heads up. :nervous: No worries though, only preliminary times. The AI makes me so angry though. Braking and lifting out of nowhere. Taking lines that you would never even dream of taking. I could go on and on. I now realize how stupid they are. The first lap is always pretty bad, after that they start spreading and all you really have to worry about is the 350Z LM and the occasional Oreca Viper coming barreling up. I just hate the driver of the Oreca. What an idiot.

The AI's have been a thorn in all our behinds every season. Most of us try getting past then ASAP then you have some breathing room. During the season you will see them do amazing things. Nothing worse then running a 34 lap race and on lap 33 an AI comes out of the pits and nails you....time to start over, after you clean up the mess you just made throwing everything across the room.
Just did a partial run and was able to get ahead of all the AI's on the first lap although the FTO was on my tail for awhile.
I dunno but 1'22's and 1'23's seen awfully fast, faster then I'll ever get. What's your secret dumkoph?

34 LAPS?! :yuck: *faints* I'll die now, thanks. What's tough about getting by them on the Mountain though, is that it keeps moving around making for a hell of an overtake when you do get there. Using the curbs through the 1, 2 complex is asking for death. Man is it fun going quickly through there though. and the last chicane is absolute madness! I love the track. Hate the AI.

Yeah, I hold my breath going thru that last chicane every time, trying to get thru clean and still be at 100+MPH when going under the bridge is harrowing but imperitive in getting a good lap time. This course was made for JGTC cars and has always been a favorite for most everyone. I'm finally getting mid 1'24's fairly regularly but a 1'23 is out of the question for me...I think, unless I got very lucky and came out of each turn at maximum speed.

What's your secret dumkoph?

Nothing spectacular. Keep your foot in it.👍 It's not official so just keep practicing till you have the cajones to take the chicane and sector 1 at near 100%. If you take it at 100% you'll go off. :)

So I improved my best lap to...(I was very much astonished) get this:1'20.7! There's still more to be taken out of this lap. I'm still finding places to push the envelope even further.

With my ASL im getting round 1'26.0 average but my fastest lap has been a 1'25.2. I could be much much faster with a softer compound than i'm using.

T1: 0'15.099

T2: 0'33.359

T3: 0'58.882

I had a blast shooting through the chicane and I've played with the throttle in turn 4 & 5 instead of braking. Driving 100% in a JGTC car is nothing compared to Doing it in Group C with no aids. Thats a challenge.

He's running GT500 Drew. That's the "secret"

On another note, I've given the Wedssport Celica a few rounds on the track and it really fits my style. My only problem is that the RF tire goes away too fast. I've gotta work on it and I'm sure those RX7's are going to have some competition. Best lap so far is sub 1.24, and the rest of the laps are EXTREMELY consistent, even the "bad-tire lap" so i'm very happy.

Haven't taken the au Cerumo out yet, but could be done tomorrow night.
