Standing or Rolling starts?

  • Poll closed .
I won't be able to make next Wednesdays test, but if first round is on the 25th that's sure great.
Thanks to all for waiting for my work shifts to come round.

Thinking back to the old Btcc days, did Rolo not say Mikey connection always clashed with a few others?
Not sure who it was with maybe worth asking Rolo or maybe Ian can remember.

And hmm paying attention what's this about a BRZ test lol, if you do it this Monday I should be about.
Just give me a breifing

yeah I thought it would work out for everyone

hence why he's in D2 (for now)

I'll let you know later mate, it's for our GTP ES test

I don't think it's all that close when you look at the percentages mate. Thirteen people had the balls to vote and give an answer, the majority say standing. 👍
First of all i'm just trying to count FF drivers. That way people can't say 'it's standing as the FR guys want it' etc etc

Me and Ian FF drivers and we want standing so that 2.

I know when I'm hosting a race room and mikey there, It's unlikey he make it on track.
As soon as the race count down ends and your loading in mikey dcs from the room.

Think when Pam hosted a room it's been the only test me and mikey got on a test track.

I get where you're coming from, but....

Well I think that some of the FR drivers votes count too when you consider that they chose a less powerful and heavier car for a number of resons and one of those will be the advantage on the grid. Add to that the fact that the FF's will benefit more from a rolling start and be better than the FR's is quite a good reson to vote too.

That's why I'm voting standing. It's more challenging, it's what we knew we were doing when we went through our car selection process and it's a classic part of real btcc racing. It's a no brainer for me. :D

exactly 👍

It all evens out i think, FR will be better of the line while the FFs will get through turn 1 and the run out of it better
fixed for you mate 👍

You can argue this both ways really, it all depends what the pace lap is like and whether or not the tyres are warmed up.

If the tyres on both FF and FR are cold, the FF's will struggle on corner entry slightly, but the FR's will have oversteer issues on the way out.

If the FF has warm tyres, they will be into and out of turn 1 with no problem at all. An FF has better tyres on lap 1 of a race, the fronts get warmed up quickly and when the rears are still cold they actually handle better (or at least in GT6 they do and in my hands).

Anyway....I'm an FF. I like doing a standing start, even though they don't really benefit me.

When it comes down to it i'm just gonna go as fast as I can. Not fussed if I lose like .5 of a second off the line.

Best thing anyone has said

If you set pole, the race isn't over. In an FF, you'll soon regain that position back on the next straight. you set pole so you clearly have the pace to run away

 Flat out is the only way mate. :mischievous:

I give my car hell off line. It's great seeing the smoke, hearing the tyres fighting for grip and then looking across to see if I'm out dragging the car next to me. Love it. The grid starts is one of the most exciting parts of motorsport.

Then going wheel-to-wheel into the first corner, without doing this...

Well looks like standing's going to win... You pussies...

Ah well, at least I didn't claim people were bitching after not being bothered to show up for the test, then I'd look foolish...

In what way do I look foolish? I was going to show up but lost track of time because i have so much **** to do right now.

OK, I just don't understand why the term bitching was used. It was a debate, I didn't see anyone bitching.

It doesn't take a whole lot to rub me up the wrong way, I have an itchy trigger finger over things like this.

Anybody know what times are being run at Laguna Seca, don't want to have to scroll through all these pages to find them.
33's for the front runners, 34's average and most likely high 34's/low 35's for D2. Me... well I'm struggling to even get into the 35's at the moment. :banghead:
