Like Smokey and the Bandit. One of the coolest movies ever.

Also, it looks good and has a cool image (again probably because of Smokey and the Bandit).

Also, fridge logic. Bo Darville (the Bandit) had probably, from an in-universe perspective, hot-rodded the snot out of that car. I mean, what's a gutted cat and plugged up EGR valve when you're running from the police, destroying property, helping run illegal beer, driving recklessly, and speeding excessively? And yes, apparently it was illegal to have Coors beer east of Texas at that time - Coors had simply never bothered to become licensed in any state outside a comfortable shipping distance.

Your judgement in this is exactly like the judgement of W&N over the Fiat 500. Trans Ams are sube zero cars for a lot of other reasons other than their lazy V8 (in those years).

Exactly. There was a good reason why they didn't have a lot of power those years. Look at the ones from years prior, specifically the SD-455.

I don't particularly care for the appearance and obviously the performance isn't going to be a selling point either. I'm sure it can be fun to drive but then again so can golf carts.

One of the very VERY last reasons I'd find to give a Trans Am a S/Z would be Smokey and the Bandit. It's not a cool movie, it's an average american flick. Hell it has Burt Reynolds in it. Almost verges on seriously uncool lol. Vanishing Point is a cool movie.

The Trans Am doesn't need movie references to be sub zero.

Anyhow, back on topic please. Fiat 500s rock the socks.

95% of America disagrees with you. Sales figures prove it, for both Pontiac an the movie. Hell Ford even tried to get money off it by offering tht paint scheme on the mustang.
 
Sales figures are so not indicative of coolness.

I've raced golf karts... and they're about several rungs down lower than the worst microcars I've ever driven.

This was a movie that built dumb in a clever way, rather than built dumb (think FnF1) in a very dumb way. There didn't need to be a zillion sequels, though... Hell... they should have just capped the sucker at the end of the first...
 
My dad owned one of these when he lived in Italy and he pretty much lived in for a couple weeks while travelling all over Europe while on leave from the Army. Judging by the amount of different women he had sitting in/on the car in all the pictures he's shown me of his trips, I don't think "unmanly" is a word I'd use to describe this car, more like a chick magnet.

Anyway, I voted Sub-Zero because it's awesome.
 
Much cooler than turning a key or pushing a button, kinda like a start-up procedure.

And I already voted Sub-Zero!
 
My John Deere has more power than this thing, but it's status as a classic keeps it from being Seriuosly Uncool. So uncool.
 
It may be a slow car..

But if you're single, all you have to do is drive by a Starbucks coffee shop in one of these.

Much higher success rate than E-Harmony or anything else really.

And for that, sub-zero.
 
This is oddly enough a car that's grown on me, it's really slow, but not surprising as performance wasn't its target. It was and is still a popular, little car I think. It's also very adorable, I'm giving it sub-zero. I just wouldn't drive one though, mainly because I think it would be a cramped ride.

Also, WHAT?! I just went through reading the posts of this thread and I'm hearing that there was an Abarth version of the classic 500? Is this true?

Oh yes :)

Such a shame the Abarth version isn't the one being voted on right now. We'd need an option beyond Sub-Zero for it.

If I wasn't 6'5" I would get a 500 if I couldn't get a Beetle. Sitting in a Beetle is a stretch for me but I can't imagine I'd fit in a 500 at all. Oh well, not the point. I just can't believe the amount of people here that are calling it uncool because it isn't powerful. By that logic, you're saying the Bugatti Veyron, a very good car indeed, is sub zero, which it's not.

Wasn't that the 600? Or was the 600 actually the 500 Abarth?

EDIT: Fiat Abarth 595. Not able to see the back but you can tell that the trunk lid is not open or it would be clearly visible.

Not all of the original Abarth Fiats had open trunks.

Therefore I think your point on the trunk making all of them seriously uncool is rendered useless.

I'm pretty sure he's thinking of the 600 Abarth. I recall Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear talking about the 600 Abarth having the hood forced open.

Yes I imagine so as well. The thing is is that the 600 isn't the only 500-derived Abarth it seems.

I watch and really like Top Gear as well but sometimes I think people rely too much on it for overall information.
