Part of it's ugliness is the lack of a visible grille. It's ugly for the same reason Voldemort is ugly; part of it's face isn't there.

Sub-zero. Classic, French car with a rally history.

These things are hilarious fun to drive. I more or less recently shot one of six original Gordinis in Mexico (the entire country, there are several replicas, tough) and even with modern, wider radials it was alarmingly easy to wiggle the tail out. The owner told me that he changed the stock, pencil-thin tires for those because it had already gotten him in trouble with some cops because he got the tail out just taking a street corner at normal speed! It's very very very revvy, and the guy has had it up to 180 km/h and change in the freeway. He also daily-drives it, his other "daily" is a Clio V6, one of about ten in the country.

Having a first-hand experience with one of these, the real deal none the less, really made me like these even more, even if I would have voted sub-zero if I hadn't. Heck I would vote the normal R8 sub-zero. Gordini? I cannot put it in words.

The car in question:

Bear in mind it's a small lightweight car, it doesn't need loads of power to be quick.

Needs a bit more than that. 200 hp and I'd be satisfied. Any less simply isn't enough; doesn't matter what kind of car it is. Luckily the lack of power doesn't ruin this car's coolness, but if it were front engined it would.

So it's 80bhp per litre is 'dismal'? Compared to, say, the 65bhp per litre in the Hi-po 289 that Shelby put in the contemporary GT350?

The GT350 would blitz this thing around ANY track. Even a dirt track. HP per liter doesn't mean 🤬 if it's still slower. It really doesn't. HP per liter has absolutely nothing to do with performance, stop acting like it does. I said the horsepower is dismal, NOT the horsepower per liter. Which doesn't matter.

So the engine has to be a V8 2000lb iron block that gives 1/2hp per liter.

Never gets old.

This car won 3 consecutive rally titles back in the 60's, much like the even slower Mini Cooper was dominating the Monte Carlo Rally.

Perhaps the OP should include a Background about each car so we can avoid these stupid debates involving the same 5 people who demonstrate absolutely no knowledge about these "uncool little horsepower" cars.

Subzero, one legendary rally car I knew thanks to a game called V-Rally 2. Only to discover, this little bugger HARDLY appeared in much games (thankfully did in GT6!)

And I always thought, what was really wrong with it? I loved this little thing! It was a little slow in term on horse power, yeah. But still pretty fast.

Not to mention, rear wheel drive, and manual transmission? You going to just vote low because of the visual of the car? Sure, go for it but I always say this.

NEVER.JUDGE.A.BOOK.FROM.IT'S.COVER. Enough said.

You know what? I'm 🤬 done with the muscle car guy bashing on all these threads. 👎 It's always the same people bashing the same guys. How about you LEAVE THEM ALONE FOR ONCE!!!!
This. I just don't understand how reverse bashing using even more uneducated biases or assumptions is constructive or intelligent. Getting so old.

If you showed up to a random car show with one you would likely get asked a thousand times what makes it so special. This reaction would not be because they don't think it's special, but because they know it's special, they just don't know why.

Sub-Zero.

The GT350 wouldn't necessarily 'blitz' the Gorgini around any track. Especially a twisty track and especially if the weather is in any way inclement.

And even though it was slower than the Renault, the Mini was beating the American muscle cars in the touring car championship.
