@McLaren. Does it really bother you that much because they prefer muscle cars? How many times do I have to say in this thread to just leave them alone for once!

If they don't like Civics, they can vote it seriously uncool if they wish. I have no problem with that! And your Famine quote about the Dixie horn is increadibly stupid becuase he's voting a car based on a horn VERY FEW PEOPLE actually use!!

A high cool vote for me. A car with a nice back story. Sounds fun as hell to drive. More and more obscure. But it just doesn't look great. It's like one of the Muppets got angry. Quirky, weird, and decent. But just not enough to invoke love from my American heart.

It's not that they prefer muscle cars, it's that they dismiss, and quite frankly ridicule other cars based on insubstantial and often inconsequential evidence.

Liking a type of car doesn't mean you can't respect and appreciate other types, even if it isn't your cup of tea.

@McLaren. DAnd your Famine quote about the Dixie horn is increadibly stupid becuase he's voting a car based on a horn VERY FEW PEOPLE actually use!!

It's not about the horn, it's about what it represents and what it does to the image of an otherwise awesome car. See my first post in the Crharger thread.

I agree entirely. It's just as incredibly stupid when people vote down a Japanese hatchback (or up on an American pickup) based on modifications VERY FEW PEOPLE actually do.

Which was my point right at the start.

I haven't voted yet by the way.

It has nothing to do with what they prefer. Try actually reading what they post.

Like how they vote Civics as uncool because a small chunk of people put stupid mods on them?

Derp.

It gets a cool from me. Not enough to be Sub-Zero, but it's still a car I would love to drive one day. It has a nice charm to it.

I wonder how many people think this R8 is cooler than the Audi R8...

I simply fail to see how this

All cars have select groups that perform horrific mods to their cars. It's not just the "ricers". And besides all that, it's their car. Far as I can tell, that sounds like their problem.

I agree with you completely. I have to wonder why so many people vote based on what could happen to car if it was giving to a certain set of people. But they forget, what happens if it isn't? Isn't that what we're voting on after all? The premise that a vote should be dictated by a group that happens to less diserable, ie Ricers, isn't a vote for the car. It is a vote for your lack of support for their culture. Votes should be for the car, and not what could happen to it. The vote of meh or uncool based just off the fact that it could be ruined ny ricers or what not is the same, in my view, as a similar vote because it could be ruined in a accident.

The amount of heads your Dixie horn comments went over is astounding. Lots of knee jerk and angry (or rather, Fast and Furious) reactions to your post.

I do see your point, but that green Shelby is a replica of the movie car in the Thomas Crown Affair remake.

Maybe I just had one of those teenage moments where I just go crazy for a while.

My emotions got the best of me today and I'm sorry if I annoyed anyone. I couldn't clear thinkly and I'm horrible at defending my own thoughts anyways.

I just got frustrated over everyone being against the usual 4-5 guys and it just didn't seem right to me.

I have huge respect for both Famine and McLaren and I don't want you guys to take it the wrong way in the future towards me. :(

Dude, it's just discussion. We know you're not a guy who causes trouble.

It's the same as an 8 year old saying a Veyron is the best car ever just because of the top speed, not really thinking about it. Very narrow minded.
Nope. Not even close.

Why do you guys feel the need to equate me to little kids? How about you act right and debate instead of insult? It's disgusting and I'm sick and tired of it. I'm not narrow-minded or a little kid, but apparently accusing me of such makes you feel better about your opinions. Just because I disagree doesn't mean you have to give me hell for it.

Speaking as one who hasn't called anyone childish, I would imagine it's a reaction to your tendency to generalize things, and base your opinions on a few overly simplistic criteria, rather than making an effort to really dig in and learn about the individual quirks of a given car.

(Yes, I know you voted the R8 here cool, but you also said this:

We simply like high-power RWD cars and think such cars are cool. Others are less cool. There's no pattern you need to go back in older threads and analyse (which is a bit creepy). It's starting to seem really childish when you guys go after our opinions. According to you, disagreement equals ignorance.

So anytime a car comes up that's not an overpowered, rumbling V8 rear-drive muscle car, it's already in a hole, because you've decided ahead of time that cars with any other layout are worse. Hate to rain on your parade, but it's awfully hard not to call that exactly what it is: closed-mindedness.)

How about you act right and debate instead of insult?

"How about you act right" is the same sentiment as calling somebody childish. Just something to think about as you accuse everyone else of being insulting.

As far as why we won't debate? Well, where do I start? First, we actually are debating. We're debating your assertion that a FWD car is inherently worse than RWD car. If what you're really asking is why doesn't the debate progress? Well, to be frank, it's usually because the RWD/V8 contingent such as yourself kill it off.

Random person: "This car is fantastic. Light weight, peppy little engine, legitimate racing pedigree. Imagine how much fun it would be to go zipping around on an open road in that!"
RWD/V8 crowd: "Sucks. FWD Sucks. Sucks, sucks, blah, sucks, blah, blah."
Random person: "What about all of that stuff I just listed? Why don't you think that's cool?"
RWD/V8 crowd: "FWD! FWDFWDFWD!! OMG FWD sucks so much."
Random person: "That didn't really address anything I said about the car. That's pretty narrow minded."
RWD/V8 crowd: "Hey, leave me alone! It's my opinion, you can't tell me not to have an opinion."

And that's when it all grinds to a halt.

You aren't even close.

So you are criticizing ME for generalizing, when here you are making up 🤬 about what "V8/RWD" guys say, which isn't even what I am. I would prefer a V6, V10, or V12 before a V8; I think they are overrated. I never said this car needs a V8, I said it needs more power.

And there you go bringing up RWD and FWD when it's not even what we are discussing here. The R8 Gordini is RWD, there's no debate about that here. You are criticizing people for liking RWD just to make a point, when it's irrelevant to the topic we are discussing.
