You know what? I'm 🤬 done with the muscle car guy bashing on all these threads. 👎 It's always the same people bashing the same guys. How about you LEAVE THEM ALONE FOR ONCE!!!!

You mean like how everyone got tired of this:

FWD is not cool.
4 cylinders are not cool.
Ugly cars are not cool.
Hatchbacks are not cool (typically).
Compacts are not cool.

To answer the first question, a Veyron is very ugly, won't take corners well, and is many times more expensive than a Ferrari.

You do have a point that 60's Alfas and 60's Ferraris are very different, but I'd still rather have almost any car that was built in the U.S. between 1965 and 1969 before the Alfa.

And while 170 hp is impressive for a 60's four-cylinder, it's still only 170 hp. I'd rather have some sort of muscle car from that era with more power, despite the higher weight.

Mostly because they look dull, are family haulers, and, yes, ricers.

And come on! 2.0 Liters? That's what my soda bottle under the cabinet has!

3.0 = Still too small. This would be awesome if they could find a way to cram a 5.0 in there.

Don't try to build a sports car unless you can put horsepower in it. This doesn't, and it's also ugly. Seriously Uncool. Not even gullwing doors can save it.

Seriously uncool:

1. It's a Civic, owned exclusively by ricers
2. It's hideous, probably the worst looking Civic ever
3. V Tec just kicked in yo.

I cringe when I see those poor old abused muscle cars. Do that crap to a Civic, not a Charger!

And then there's the irony in these posts. In both Civic threads, two different members judged based on the age old view of ricers & Civics being one and the same. And yet, here comes Slash getting defensive because Famine posted this in the Charger thread:

They're fine to continue making these sort of statements themselves, but god forbid the shoe gets on the other foot.

And by this logic below, the Civic shouldn't have been Seriously Uncool at all.

I don't see how the Dukes of Hazard makes it uncool at all. Generally if a car is used in any popular TV show, it gains coolness points.

The '69 Charger R/T wouldn't be as special without the Dukes of Hazard. Normally it would be just cool, but the show it was in makes it cooler.

And if I had one, I would definitely put a dixie horn on it. Just to see the smiles on people's faces when they hear it.

How about instead of leaving them alone, they actually learn how to research some of these cars or learn to stop being so inconsistent with how they vote (@SlipZtrEm already called out Slash's quoted post above as being wildly obscure seeing as he voted quite a few cars with those traits as cool or sub-zero). Or perhaps, stop using sweeping generalizations about FWD, small displacement, & low horsepower instead of taking into account the weight or era of the cars; i.e. research. If they would do this, they wouldn't get "bashed" on, though I find it humorous to see you play them as the victims when they bring it on themselves for actually defending such ignorant views such as this Renault's horsepower as dismal or that as long as you don't swap parts, a car is still OEM.

Moreso than researching (altough there is a big part of that in some (most) cases) I'd throw a stone at learning to appreciate them as well as other kind of cars, but most of them have shown... er, quite reluctant to even try. So at leat I myself don't even bother anymore.

The ignorance part, yeah, that is entirely another matter.

The GT350 would blitz this thing around ANY track. Even a dirt track. HP per liter doesn't mean 🤬 if it's still slower. It really doesn't. HP per liter has absolutely nothing to do with performance, stop acting like it does. I said the horsepower is dismal, NOT the horsepower per liter. Which doesn't matter.

GT350 weights about 1300 Kg. Renault 8 Gordini weights about 800 Kg, that's a 500 Kg difference. That's almost as much as an Ariel Atom. And that does make a difference on track.

I'm aware of that. But if I drive an F3 car, no matter how much I'm amazed but it's cornering ability, I'd still rather drive an F1 car, which has many times more power.

This car won 3 consecutive rally titles back in the 60's, much like the even slower Mini Cooper was dominating the Monte Carlo Rally.


Perhaps the OP should include a Background about each car so we can avoid these stupid debates involving the same 5 people who demonstrate absolutely no knowledge about these "uncool little horsepower" cars.

Gran Turismo isn't real life. It doesn't accurately model enough aspects to make any such tests valid.

Weight matters an awful lot on track.

Also, the Shelby has 230hp per ton and the R8 has 123hp per ton. Much closer than the raw hp figures would suggest.

As I mentioned to @McLaren I wouldn't go as far as to call it ignorance, as you might know every single crook of a certain car and still hate it to bits. I'd say it's a lack of apreciation for the characteristics of other type of cars aside from those you prefer and the character and flavour it gives them, specially when sometimes some of those have a very rich background that can make them pretty damn cool.

Then again, some arguments you have thrown around, like the ones quoted from the Civic thread, are, on top of unappreciative, absolutely stupid, and will of course get you called upon it.

You best read the posts I quoted. That is the utmost definition of ignorance to believe all Civics are ricers, that you can't build a sportscar without power, & whatever other BS you all spew about FWD & 4 cylinders. It adds further insult when 1 of you claims those traits are never cool yet you vote cars sub zero/cool that have those traits.
