VERY COOL. A fun tiny truck with cute looks. I would drive it. The fact it cannot be made into a lifted truck nutz BRO DOZER makes it cool.

@Zenith when he says if it has balls he means a decent amount of power.
I'm guessing he understood that. The point here is that Mustang was judging the car uncool based on criteria that are utterly irrelevant to it.

Saying the Mazda doesn't have balls is like saying those 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks are useless at negotiating Japan's side roads. It's both obvious and irrelevant - like the aforementioned "truck on the 'Ring" example. Or alternatively, judging a supercar on its wading or rock-crawling abilities. And then deeming it uncool because of it...

@Slash, I think you'll find that those in the market for a Ford Econoline aren't in the market for a Mazda Porter, and vice versa.

Oh I get that, I was more so just clarifying because it seemed like he missed it.

True but the Econoline is basically the same thing visually.

I honestly don't know what to think of it. It's a bit ugly tbh, but at the same time a bit adorable. It also would probably have a hard time getting up a steep hill, but at the same time probably would never have knuckleheads wanting to lift it (hopefully). I guess I'll just give it a meh for neutral.

For me, 1960s-1970s Japanese vehicles are cool by default. This one is cute, it's a kei truck I wasn't aware of before, and it's got a 2-stroke engine. Easy Cool.

It is hideous, it has no power, and nobody has ever heard of it. Seriously uncool.

It would be terrible in 'Murica. I'd rather not have to wait a year to accelerate up to 55mph on some backroads.

Its top speed is 56mph. It's not made for cruising at 55mph on some backroads. That's like saying a Honda 250R trike is "terrible" because it's no good for carrying a 600lbs. load of cargo around narrow Japanese streets.

Then it's a pointless vehicle for where I live because literally everywhere is very long roads at that speed. I can see how it's good in tight cities though, but it wouldn't be too practical here in the states. That doesn't change my vote though :)

I get your point, but as I said, it really depends on where you live. It's pointless here.

Small trucks and old Japanese vehicles are typically cool, but it's a work truck so it's sole purpose in life is to move objects, not emotions. It also reminds me of something a hipster crossed with a weeaboo would drive today.

I don't care if it can go down streets in Japan, that doesn't make it cool. Almost anywhere in the U.S. you would be laughed at for driving one of these, as well as honked at because you are in the way. The same goes for any place that has a highway. And no, nobody (as in over 90% of the developed world) has heard of this car.

What makes this cool? Too many cars here get voted cool because they are old; I don't see any other valid reason to vote this cool. No car with a 56 mph top speed is cool. Period.

If uncool people are laughing at you, that doesn't matter much. And this thing was never meant for US highways, it's built for Asian city and rural backroads use, single-lane dirt paths that aren't even wide enough for a modern Corolla.

-

It's cool because it looks funky and because it's a Mazda. No Mazda can be uncool, except perhaps the Bongo Friendee. On the contrary, very few Mazdas can rate as sub-zero (see Miata Cool Wall thread), just because.

-

It's not sub-zero because it's not a center-hand drive Daihatsu Midget II.

I have to agree with this.

I question why voting it Uncool because "'Merica" is any more valid to be honest.

Yeah... I didn't say that anywhere in the post. Did you even read it???

It's a cool car, just look at it.

Yep, it's ugly. Look under the hood and you'll find a microscopic engine. What's your point?

I mean, it has only 1 more horsepower than my John Deere mower.

That "microscopic" engine works well around Japan, where it was built for. Not for the US. Drivability in the US doesn't really count towards rating because this car was never sold in America anyway.

That would mean anybody here who isn't Japanese should not be qualified to have an opinion on the car. As I see it, coolness is based on three factors: if I look good driving it, if my friends look good driving it, and my friends' reaction to seeing me drive it. This car fails all three factors.

What? I never said that drivability was the only factor that counted.

Why do you care what other people think? You form your opinion, not them.

Because that's what coolness is all about- what everyone else thinks. It doesn't matter what you think- if you think your Prius is cool, you are wrong.

But that's what you think. Others may think it's wrong but you don't.
