That is true. I also thought that people didn't have anything to do with a car's coolness until I attended a VW meeting a few years ago. Can't respect VWs after that :/

I generally only hang around the classic car shows for this reason. Most of the people there are older, laid-back guys, very friendly.

Of course, there are idiots everywhere. One guy (young, maybe 25-ish) said his mostly stock 440 Charger could smoke a GT-R in the 1/4. I laughed and walked away.

According to what I have noticed, Skoda owners are much worse than VW owners, but that's just around here.

And ultimately the car can become uncool by association as is the problem with many muscle/pony cars (Mustang, Corvette), Japanmobiles (GT-R, GTO) and European premium wannabes (Golf, Audis).
Good point 👍

Most of the muscle crowd seems to be pretty nice people. The guy I rode around in a '67 Mustang couldn't have been more low to mid 20s and he was really cool. I walked up and asked for a ride and he's like "hell yeah lets go that's what it's here for!!"

Uncool drivers = Uncool car.
No, there's a difference. I might be an uncool driver but that doesn't make a certain car less uncool. The exception being if the typical crowd that surrounds them (not to cause a issue, but BMW and Honda come to mind) is all like that.

I consider people who brag about their car to be an uncool group of people.

And who the hell brags about their V6 Camry?

Your second sentence hits the nail on the head. A single individual is unlikely to make a car uncool, but if there are enough owners of a specific car with a similar attitude - enough for a car to have some sort of culture around it - then it is certainly possible for drivers of said car to make it uncool.

That's when you take weight into consideration. Power is a bragging thing. People like to brag.

And bragging isn't cool.

Why does it matter? That makes the person uncool, not the car.

Uncool drivers = Uncool car.

So, in sum:

1) Uncool drivers != uncool car, provided that we're talking about cars you like. And,

2) Uncool drivers = uncool car, provided that we're talking about cars you don't like.

A shining beacon of open-mindedness, as always.

Drivers don't make cars uncool. If that were true, then BMW's would be uncool, but BMW's are very cool, as the cool wall has proven.

Bad modifications, however, DO make cars uncool. Around here, bad modifications to pickup trucks are very common, and the most common truck you'll see with bad modifications is the Dodge Ram. As such, Rams are generally seen as less cool than F-Series and Silverados. On the other end of the spectrum is the Honda Civic, with wouldn't be that uncool of a car if ricers didn't ruin them.

They don't have to be modified to be associated with idiots.

You say this

But then reply to @Custom878 with this. Which is it?

The Honda Civic is uncool (among other reasons) because it is often modified badly. Not because they are driven by idiots. Bimmers often are driven by idiots, but since the modifications done to them aren't as bad as Civics, they aren't affected. Because it's the cars themselves that are being modified, they suffer from uncoolness. Drivers aren't part of the car.

So now you're saying, that what you said, is not what you ment?

So you're lumping all Civics together because some random jack modified it questionably? Instead of judging them by a car by car basis? How you throw them all into the same category because of what someone else has done in the past is just wrong. That's very open-minded.

Whats the point though, I'm sure someone has already brought that to your attention before.

No. I meant what I said. I never contradicted myself.

Actually a LOT of jacks modified them questionably. It screws up the car's image, and it is a shame, but when I hear "Civic" I am reminded of ricers. I can't consider a car cool if it reminds me of ricers.

And frankly, I don't care about open-mindedness. It's a made-up term used only to degrade people.

Are you sure?

Drivers don't make cars uncool.

They don't have to be modified to be associated with idiots.

Exactly, that's part of the reason the Honda Civic is uncool.

You're really going back and forth there.

And frankly, I don't care about open-mindedness. It's a made-up term used only to degrade people.
Well that wasnt obvious  oh by the way, its a real term.

Are you sure?

You're really going back and forth there.

Nope, I'm definitely consistent. You're clearly just trying to discredit me by making that claim.

It's misused more than it's used correctly, usually in a bullying manner.

I didnt realize that the definition of consistent meant flip flopping all over the place. I find it hilarious that you cant see how contradicting those quotes are. I'll leave it at that though, I've already derailed this thread enough pointing out your terribly inconsistent contradictions. However, if you wish to continue, my wall has a lot of space.

It's misused more than it's used correctly, usually in a bullying manner.
Good thing its being used correctly right now.

Your head is so far up your ass you don't know which direction it went in.

Back and forth, back and forth with you. Make up your mind already.

Both of you are delusional. You aren't even explaining how I've contradicted myself, while I've rephrased my statement many times. I'm done with this idiocracy.

If you can't see it for yourself, then there's no hope....
Idiots, that's what.

Well I don't know about you but I can count at least 1.
