I quite like the look of it. Especially the rear.

It started winning against the Vipers after five years of competing, and crucially, after Oreca dropped their support. It did so bad it wasn't even selected for entry at Le Mans in 1998.
I think 5 years is a bit of stretch regarding the FIA GT. FIA's historic site says they grabbed the first win in 2000, & only made a full commitment to the series in 1999. Before that, they only did a couple rounds a year.

The company seemed more dedicated to running it in the BPR Series & Le Mans, which you're right, they did horrible in with the first 2 iterations of the car. And concur that after Oreca left, it was about as impressive at winning as Corvette Racing in Le Mans; easier feat when the manufacturer is running your cars and costs aren't a big issue. Even then though, the dominance of the Viper is pretty spectacular since it grabbed the next 2 Championships before the 550/575 came in.

I'd rather be seen in an Aztek...

This car and its cheesy 80 low rent body kit is so ugly...i dont care if i has 1200 horses and 2 additional hidden wheels, this is uncool

Its lucky i didnt put it su...

I actually like the tackyness of it, reminds me of wide-body Koenig bodykits. And V12.

But it isn't a cool car :/

Yes, the one closest to this model was the GTS, which failed to even complete most races. The GTL, which was the aerodynamic one who's road car looks like this:

Was more successful, meaning the cars actually finished, such as 19th at 24 hours of Daytona. Although the cars failed at 24 hours of le mans. The company actively participated it racing events, they just weren't successful. The one you're referring to is the GT, which is what made the Storm famous.

As far as the "regular" road car goes, most people say it's ugly (I think it's the best looking car ever made, but that's just me) and I respect their opinions, but the thing you guys need to know is that it was function over style. Honeycomb construction, the carbon fiber bodywork is steel framed and designed to protect against impact, especially at high speed. the vents towards the front are designed to cool the front V12.

Having ridden in one and hearing from experiences, it can outpace and outcorner any Ferrari of the day, and is faster than a *stock* XJ220. Now, again, I respect peoples opinions but just now it was engineering first, design later. And design was for optimal aerodynamics. And also know that it was very well engineered. It was also very comfortable and luxurious.

To this day, 3 road Storms exist, and only 4 were built.

Very solid cool from me. Never thought it looked good in silver, a quick Google reveals one in BRG and one in Blue that look way better. The shape is actually quite odd close-up, but interesting rather than ugly. Very quick, rare, well engineered homologation special. The arguments about its track prowess are a little redundant here though.

Not the prettiest car ever, but from certain angles it has a look of purpose about it, certainly. Which is kind of cool.

BUT. It was a miserable failure.

BUT. It had a huge V12.

AND. 90's supercar, which could be pretty cool (F50, Diablo, etc).

I don't even.

Pop-up headlights - always deserves merit no matter what it's in.

V12 engine, generally pretty cool too. Despite that, there's something about this car's proportions to me that don't do it's rarity and performance justice, and the wheels seem small to my eye as well (17s?). I think it could be mistaken for a kit car by those who didn't know otherwise.

But if you were 1 of the 4 who bought one, and you explained what it is to someone who thought it was cool, I think they'd walk away still thinking it was cool. So Cool, but only just.

The Storm rode on 18 inch alloys.:)
