One of the most successful LeMans Prototypes. Also the 2003 Infineon livery is amazing. Cool.
 
The red Joest Infineon racing livery is one of the best looking LMPs of all time.

Yes it was, that was the year they raced both the R8C (closed cockpit) and R8R (spyder) to see which would be better going forwards.

The R8C did really badly in that year's Le Mans so they abandonded that project and concentrated on the open cockpit approach which resulted in 2000's Audi R8. VAG wouldn't tackle the GTP class again until using the Bentley name in 2003.
 
Cool. Its the most successful LMP car during the early 2000s. The only LMP that ever beaten the Audi was the Bentley Speed 8.

BMW left, Toyota left, Nissan left, Mercedes left, which didn't leave much in the way of manufacturer competition for a few years... Cadillac perhaps? Sure there was Bentley, but wasn't that the year Audi didn't run a factory car, with Joest instead helping the Bentley team who had the Audi's chassis and engine as a starting point for their design?

.. I could be wrong on that, just what I recall reading.

The irony being the Bentley was based off of The Audi R8C.

Really like the fact that it comes with a V8 and a V10.
Also comes as a coupe and a spyder, like that fact too.

Except Peugeot who decided to cut their losses on Formula One after seven mediocre years and stick their thumb up their A-hole and Nissan, because ermagerd Soopaaa GeeTee.

Peugeot was more focused on WRC after the F1 endeavor from memory, after they left in 2005 they put there efforts back to Le Mans.
 
Great car, which started the lockout of Le Mans that only gets broken every 6 years (two times by its fellow colleagues, but sshh).
And domination is never cool (unless it comes with its very own mind-boggling stats, and this sort of doesn't). SU.

As much as I want to vote cool, I have to follow GTP Cool Wall logic which in this case.... SU because Race Car, it doesn't matter if it's Mazda 787B or mclaren F1 Long tail or 1960's Ford GT40's or F1 cars that aryton senna drove.
