I know you and many others are irritated with him but I'm just trying to say what I can without getting into hot water. You guys know I speak my mind but there is clearly a limit, and I'm at it. I rather be on GTP than tell of some goof that seems to want to act like a kid.

If you're driving a hybrid, and actively "racing" your fuel economy numbers against other hybrid drivers (as Insight drivers are apparently wont to do), you probably see cars as evil greenhouse-gas-spewing planet murderers.

I don't imagine F1 drivers would care either way, really. Being the few people who do race hybrids against other hybrids.

A very cool and unique looking car, the MPG on this thing is absurd and there's just something about the idea of being able to drive almost anywhere even on a limited budget that is becoming a very cool prospect these days.

I dunno, I can't really justify my thoughts on this thing - I just love it, I really do.
 
So now apparently I believe you need to daily drive a sports car in order to be considered a car enthusiast....

Not sure if I need to post anymore since you guys seem pretty good at putting words in my mouth :lol:

I think the key is to remember that we can still have our unique opinions of what is cool or not but we need to respect each other's opinions while expressing our own.

The amount of respect anyone else would afford me does not factor into my car buying choices, least of all someone like you.

I'm not going to add to the W&N bashing, easy as it would be to do so, because it's getting a little too one-sided for my liking. And to be fair he does do a good job of keeping the cool wall threads going 👍

But.

I know not everyone agrees that we've reached peak oil, and that petrol/gas is now rapidly running out. But it is getting harder to extract and ever increasing amounts of developing world populations are fighting for it - all of which means that prices will only ever increase from now on. If certain groups of automotive fans celebrate fuel economy as an important issue, then bravo to them for having a little foresight 👍 - we can't all keep our heads in the sand.

NO. You don't have to like cars. You have to know to appreciate cars, and not only cars but what surrounds them, from general culture to "subgenres" of cars. That makes you a car enthusiast.

I for sure don't like minivans but man they're great in doing what they do. I don't like the BMW X5 but I recently had a 200km/h stint in one that made me appreciate them quite a lot more. I love muscle cars and hot rods and I can tell you a loooooooooot of bad things about them. If you gave me money I'd go build a HEMI-powered Javelin and park it alongside my 3-rotor RX7 and 2-liter Alpine A110. And I'd enjoy driving all of them.

Would I buy an Insight? Hell yeah, it's an excelent car with loads of things that real car guys can appreciate.

And about the "naive" thing, you're being very, very kind, @LMSCorvetteGT2.

This has the be more a true colors shown than any other single cool car wall, and I think it's actually just manifesting now because of a few other hot topic ones prior. This is just spearheading now...

That's usually the same mind set that thinks women shouldn't hold positions of respect or rather that if you don't like big v8s your a hippy as W&N seems to believe. The fact that electric cars are as old as the creation of cars seems to escape you "would be" conservative car fans. And I wish some of you would actually educate yourself rather than perpetuate a single moment in car history as the paragon of it. I say this with enough experience and great memory and seeing what most of you people have said on various car threads outside the cool wall to formulate an opinion of your myopic opinion. Every one is in fact entitled to an opinion but they get it from some where and that source and further embodiment of ignorance is what needs to be argued and squashed.

I thought it was electric. I only remember it in GT4. And nowhere else. When I used it, I don't remember that thign having any gears. Unless my memory sucks.

And right year? Once poluation gets heavy and the gasoline/oil gets scarce to a point, the energy will have to do. Which will probably take lots more years. The electric cars taht usually don't have any kind of v8 obviously and no true sound of a car, it's just very soulless. But there's only one electric car that I would love to have: Tesla Model S.

And @LMSCorvetteGT2 , enough about me alright? I'm just a guy who thinks what cars look good, what cars look bad, and etc. I'm not addicted to car that much. Other than my passion for classic cars.

Why doesn't someone just come up with a different alternative? Something that's better than electric cars. I also find it funny how environmentalists want us to drive electric cars, yet they want us to conserve electricity in our everyday lives.

So basically you have no real idea about the car and you're just commenting as an exercise rather than contribute to anything.

Population is already heavy, gas powered cars are only convenient for most of the core nations which reside in the west. The idea that we should sit around and use oil and then when it's all gone just make another resources isn't all that smart. Since it doesn't work like that maybe you should research what R&D is while you're at it.

Well I am, and I'm also addicted to history, if you want to comment wrongly on either subject expect to be corrected. But don't get upset over it because you were, sorry but life is blunt don't see why some of you expect this to be a safe haven from that.

I'm divided on this machine. It looks absolutely ridiculous and I like that, but I dunno. I like all sorts of things but still.....

Let's just give it a safe-ish cool.

I'm aware of teh prius having no gears in GT4 and in real life but I though I drove another car ith no gears.

Must of been of the old prius that is also electric. However I like it more than the newer priuses.

Well what's bad about electric cars? Also who here is environmentalist? And you too along with him might want to research what R&D is. I'd start with scientific journal articles on bio fuel, hydrogen combustion, if you need more help just ask.
 
Because bad ideas push out good. You get electric cars to a point where they're tolerable for the average person, they'll buy nothing else because for some reason they think a car that makes no noise is a good thing. Then good luck ever finding a mainstream entry-level or midsize car with an ICE ever again. It's happened many times - RWD giving way to FWD, ruthless displacement downsizing becoming the norm, and now improved automatic transmissions chasing away manuals. You let things like this take hold and they will kill everything you love.
