2003-2005 MG ZT-T 260 nominated by @Legro

Engines:
4.6L V8 (Ford Modular 2-valve)
Power: 260 hp
Torque: 300 lb-ft.
Weight: 1770 kg
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front engine, rear wheel drive
Body Styles: 5-door wagon
Additional Info: "MG ZT-T 260 is wagon version of MG ZT 260. It has 4.6 liter V8 made by Ford also used in Mustang. The engine is slightly tuned by MG Rover chancing torque curve, but leaving horsepower as it is from Ford. To cope with 260 horsepower of the V8, FWD chassis of standard ZT got chanced to RWD one. Development involving Prodrive was delayed so planned 2002 release didn't happen until September 2003. Only 152 MG ZT-T 260 were built before MG Rover bankrupted in 2005. The only visible differences between standard ZT-T and 260 version are badging and quad-exhaust."

And with that, I am handing control of the Cool Wall over to @GranTurismo916 . It could be temporary, with me coming back at the end of January, I could come back later than then or it may be permanent.

I like these. I give it a cool because it's not a car you see often, and it's fairly subtle for what it actually is.

Aw, was it only available as a wagon? I'd vote cool for a sedan, but a wagon only musters a meh.

Uncool. Wagons haven't really been cool since the 70s with a few exceptions and the fact this has the worst V8 Ford ever built doesn't help.

Wonder how long the owner of this car has had that plate registered. It's registered in Germany but it reads in English. It's definitely not the "best car" unless that means something else in German.

Anyway, this car is an attempt to make a crapbox better. It doesn't work. It has all the makings of a cool car: Good engine, manual transmission, RWD.

The problem is that it was based on a very boring car that had horrible styling. It looks like the headlights were supposed to be ovals but the tops of them were cut off by the hood. Look at that panel gap between the front bumper panel and the hood; it's massive. The grille looks like it came from a BMW 5-Series. It looks like it has two sets of foglights; why aren't the turn signals amber? With two sets of white lights AND four-eyes headlights, this car's face has eight lights. Looks like a spider's. It also has five places for intakes in the front if the two on either side of the bumper are functional, why cram so many features onto one part of a car? Meanwhile, nothing is happening with the rest of the car- it looks completely basic in design. Regular hood. Regular side panels. Regular rear. Regular roof. Overcrowded front? Why?

I still don't understand the wagon craze, either. Most speed wagons are fast in a straight line but won't take corners properly because they are too heavy. Why should a wagon be automatically cooler when your average FR sports car, which IS usually faster, isn't?

Seriously Uncool.

The engine is far from what I'd consider good. They are unreliable piles of 🤬.

Better than a sub-2 liter I4.
This I can agree with.

While there's nothing inherently wrong with a sub 2 liter I4, in fact they can be great fun (ask me how I know), they just don't have the "cool" factor a typical American V8 does.

Right, in a little roadster such as my dad's Mercury Capri, small four-bangers work fine. But not in a nearly 2 ton estate.

Gets a meh. Bland appearance, and only some very specific car fanatics are going to know exactly what it is by looking at it.

Well it's probably a fake plate. lol

Well it's probably a fake plate. lol

I didn't think fake plates were legal in places requiring plates on the front and rear; wouldn't there have to be a real plate on the front as well?

Well they probably just installed it for the picture.

I had a weird facination with this car after playing the getaway.

Either way it's not cool, but I wouldn't say its uncool either.

I can agree with the unreliable part. My dad owns one, and used it quite often until the engine broke down. Now the car is in a garage waiting for replacement engine.

Errm. No. The one in my dads Bullitt never went wrong. It never did anything out of the ordinary, sure it wasn't the most powerful but it kept working whatever weather, even when we were driving through a monsoon and a wagon splashed up so much water the car was practically underwater! Also even when we took it to Germany and thrashed it up to 135mph. Just kept going.
Yes it maybe a different story in the MGs and Rovers.

As for the MG Meh.

Nice sleeper idea but doesn't pull it off very well. Only with modifications can it take on M5s.

Meh. Liked the idea of it, but they went to all the trouble of re-engineering it to make it RWD, then stuck a meagre output V8 in it instead of something more muscular. The M5, which had already been out for 4 or 5 years by this time had 400 PS. The RS6 of the same era had 450 PS.

Nice idea, bad effort.

Doesn't look too bad, saves it from SU.

Uncool it is.
