Kei car. Can't fit. Five doors. Japanese. Worse than the Starlet Glanza in terms of turbo power. What sort of idiot makes a turbo that puny?

Ermm.. tastes like Snail food?
 
There are a quite a few kei cars I like, and a car that is designed to intelligently make the most of extremely strict regulations is something I admire.

However, I'm don't like the look of this one - to me it looks like a startled frog wearing a red balaclava. I'm going with uncool.
 
Uncool, I love kei cars, but this one is just trying too hard.
 
Cool because Kei car, Uncool because of its looks.

Rounds out to Meh.
 
I like the modernization of the old design... but meh.

I'm sure the turbo can give it more power but the regulations of kei cars limit the car to 63hp.
Remove those regulations and this car could get 75hp.

What about top speed and acceleration? I'm sure it handles very well, but it's got to be lacking there. And with looks like that, I'd take a Camry, Civic, or anything over that, really.

That's like asking why a Camry doesn't have five hundred horsepower and can't hit 220 mph... or why a Corvette needs a stupidly long sixth gear and skip-shift. Those are the conditions set by the target market. If we didn't have safety regulations, consumer protection and EPA, yes, you could probably buy a 500-600 horsepower Camry for around what a Camry costs nowadays. It just wouldn't be very clean, very safe or very durable. Horses for courses. You're not buying one of these to use on the American interstate, but if you happened to live in Tokyo, your mindset would be much, much different.

They don't even sell Civics in Japan.

The Kei car market is a budget market. They're very, very, VERY cheap cars for city dwellers who'd rather not get wet riding a scooter in the rain. But they're also a great way to get into motoring without spending a lot, so there's also been an inordinate number of Kei-sized sports cars over the years.

But since the tax breaks are price agnostic, you can also get some really spiffy, well-appointed Kei cars, too.

Not all Kei Cars are cool, however. But this one? This one I like. Cool.
 
I physically can't make the ^_^ face while driving it, boo.
 
Great little Kei car but, the looks ruined it for me so it only gets a low cool.

Yeah i see how this thing can be cool or cute to some... but it is uncool and flimsy looking to others... meh!
 
I was going to vote this cool.

I like the 700cc turbo engine, I like that it'll be neatly packaged and easy to nip around places.

BUT it looks a bit too tall in the OP photo knocking it's dimensions out and slightly ruining the looks.

Meh it is.
 
Meh. It's not the best Kei car but in terms of economy cars in general it seems pretty decent.
 
I'm genuinely torn between cool and uncool. The looks seem to be very dependent on which photo you look at. The OP has a photo that portrays the car in a fairly good light, but others aren't so nice. In person I imagine that it's probably quite attractive due to the diminutive size. I've ended up going with cool, partly because it's not about speed or status, and partly because it's a stylish urban vehicle.
 
It's like Japanese Volkswagen up!, small, cute and it makes people smile. Cool.

I generally like Kei cars, but this one leaves me a little meh.
 
The original classic N360 probably would have gotten a Meh, but this new interpretation is a plain Uncool for me. Sure it'll work well in the urban areas around Tokyo, but it looks like it's trying too hard to be like the classic one.
 
It's awesome and looks good. Cool, and I love the N360.
 
I like kei-cars because they are affordable fun things with wheels and what they offer is honest, but they stopped being cool when we entered the 2000's era. Manufacturers are trying too hard to make them cool again by evoking old desings. I believe it doesn't work. Uncool
 
I went with meh, I can't think of anything cool or uncool about it.

How does practicality make a car cool?

In my opinion a car is a respect and status statement and that is the sort of car that is going to cost you everything you have going for you. Just look at it, wheres the respect people will give you if you driv that?
