I was ROBBED!

I captured this crime on video, here are the key frame grabs:-

Hi All

Success at last. Re-did the Rainmasters event with the Nova & won it. Took countless tries.

Accommodating AI's were a help as well. 15:57 is way slower than GBO Possum's 14:48. BTW you was robbed, at least I got the full credits.

I'm so glad you're having fun with this Geezer challenge and raising it to new art forms!

The Spa race is my new favorite, with its beginning in the rain, and the subsequently drying track. The rabbits are usually far faster than me in top speed, (once the track dries) which makes for some fun between Eau Rouge and Les Combes.

After Eau Rouge, I'm usually on the ragged edge and cut the left-hander at Raidillon hoping to miss the wall on the left. This excursion seems to give me an edge, so that when the following rabbit uses his long legs, he'll catch me but I outbrake him into Les Combes.

For the rest of the lap, rabbits keep close, but not close enough, and my final area of "rabbit threat" comes after Paul Frère, especially from Blanchimont through to the Chicane. I have refined late braking into the Chicane combined with hogging the line. The one time I opened the door, the rabbit rammed me, I got a penalty and he walked away with my money. I was not pleased, but it taught me a lesson about legitimately defending the line.

On my rig, with 720p TVs, approaching the Chicane I see a faint white line across the track. This I use as a braking point in most cars. Some cars with less braking power will not appreciate this lateness.

I enjoy this event's "rubber banding", because it seems to make sense. The rabbit is slow on a wet track, but gains confidence as the track dries especially when he can see that a Geezer in an ancient American land yacht can negotiate the curves. At least that's how it is in my mind.

Final note. Spa was my "bête noir" until this seasonal. It scared the heck out of me, especially the Chicane and Eau Rouge. Being "forced" to do five laps at a time, and in the rain for the first of these has been a gift.

"The one time I opened the door, the rabbit rammed me, I got a penalty and he walked away with my money. I was not pleased, but it taught me a lesson about legitimately defending the line." Ohh yes, that's exactly where the rabbit got me too,, with the same result - I got the penalty. like you I didn't give him that chance the next race.

 Thanks very much for the track map bud:bowdown:! Now we know 👍👍,, IF ONLY we could pronounce those  names:scared:! LMAO!! ;) :gtpflag:

I liked the idea so I chose the Shelby 350R-GT '65 . I found that it was on the easy side, so I decided to do the HOW LOW CAN YOU GO game. I tried to cut the PP by 5% increment and see. Here are my results.

Motegi = down to 477PP -won by 0.025s

Autumn Ring = down to 375PP - won by 0.58s

Spa = down to 450pp - won by 0.18s

Maybe this car is a ringer, so I intend to try the Camaro '69 next.

Well dun OldBoy!:cheers::bowdown:

Well done to all the Geezers who are attempting this challenge & winning.

As much as I love Spa, in the wet, with old iron, is frustrating me. I guess my heavy right foot is my problem.

I'll try this with some of the other heaps in my garage tomorrow, because Wauk had a room open today where He, Duce, Oldboy & myself were wrestling with the Cobra at Sierra & Mt Panorama. What a workout. 👍👍👍👍👍

Have fun with this, Geezers & keep it on the tarmac.

Thanks Papa, YES SIR - we did attempt :banghead: wrestling the '66 427 Cobra around those tracks and got our 'ol butts handed to us on a silver platter by OldBoy at Sierra with a blistering (perhaps Tire shredding is a better choice of words because the tires were spin'n at least 1/2 the track!) 8.44 and short change. Go ahead fellas and give it a rip,, let us know if and when you GEEZER drivers best that number ,, we couldn't get 'er dun!

Then our 'ol bud, WaukaZoo ESQ ;) showed each and every one of us the door at Panorama with (if memory serves) a VERY quick 202 and change. One conclusion I think we all agreed on, the car's an absolute BEAST and at least on RH tires may need the HP lowered just a tad to have a good run. I'm thinking we'll be seeing more of this hot rod so we really need to get 'er figgered out!

I really like Papa's ending note: "Have fun with this, Geezers & keep it on the tarmac."

Just finished golding all 3 in a Plymouth XNR Ghia '60. Again the Spa event was the challenge.

Even bested my Nova time which surprised me as it was way more difficult with this ride.

I found the Nova to be more of a handful than XNR Ghia. Or maybe I should say, the Nova provided a longer learning curve.

Well guys I see you are certainly enjoying yourself i will be giving these cars ago now i am feeling better looks a great challenge but I wil have to put some time in on the two tt that end today first I seemed to have slipped down the tables a bit ha ha hope to see some of you online later:cheers:

Glad to hear you are feeling better (although now you are back, we will all get knocked down the leaderboard, ha ha)

Tip - try using manual gears @ Monza 👍

Well folks, looks like I'll be down for a while till I get my online bug worked out.

Symptoms are:
  • Can't find Wauk-azoo's rooms
    • Friends list not showing Wauk's room
    • Track filter not showing Wauk's room & sometimes not showing any room running on the selected track, though several are on the all list.
  • Fails to create a room.
    • Gets to Track logo then freezes for a bit then Disconnected from the server.
  • 4m & 40s after joining any room I get disconnected from the server.
Just finished re-loading all the updates after killing all game data still no joy. Have specified ports 80, 443, 465, 983, 3478-3479, 3658, 5223, & 10070-10080 for forwarding and disabled UPnP without a change in symptoms.

Will swap out routers next. I have 3 brands so 2 more to test.
Then move my equipment to a different location served by ATT. (Computer repair store)
Then try to score a new to me PS3. (Pawn, Yard/Garage Sale, Craig's List, etc.)

Less than a happy camper ATM.

Sure is the strangest glitch or whatever it is any of us has ever seen. You've already tried more than most of us could think of doing. I sure hope you can figure it out. We miss not having you racing with us.

Hope you get things worked out doc:banghead: I hate computer problems:censored:.
I finally golded the first two events with the Shelby gt350r. Spa on the otherhand is a different story. Finished 6th on my first try. Is that rain or ice coming down:confused:??? I'll have to work real hard on that one. That was a great idea PapaGnr:cheers:

You have my sympathy and understanding.

Just prior to these bad things happening, can you think of any changes made?

This posting may help you. << CLICK THERE

Looks like the modem. All the lights but power clear every 4 minutes or so. Charter tech support shows numerous TimeOuts for the modem. The NetGear NightHawk did a heroic job of masking this with its efficiency at re-establishing the internet connection. It looked solid at the computer. My WFR router on the other hand accentuated the issue which helped spot the culprit. I'll know more tomorrow evening.

My mood is improving.

The latest rounds of TTs & Dts are up & @zona99 (aka Tom) is extremely fast in the TTs, as per usual. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

I'm glad he can't drift. ;)

Get after him, Geezers. :gtpflag:

Problem is the car of choice is apparently the Chaparral_2J_'70, yet again :banghead:, and I for one can't stand the thing. It's like I imagine driving a shed would be. Of course this could be because I can't drive the thing worth a dam anyway but am in awe of those that can. :D

The 2J is often like taking a gun to a knife fight. I used to use it a lot until I realized that it was the leaderboard choice. For that reason, and that it's a Standard and looks like carp* in replays, I now refuse to use it. Even if it costs me in prize money!

* that's an anagram :D

I'm with you Possum, totally and completely uninterested AND unimpressed in the times the 2-J lays down. Mind you I'm taking NOTHING away from our esteemed GEEZERS who use it because they're FAST as the dickens anyway !! It's a stone cold FACT, they're on top of the boards in no matter what car they drive so we'll just press on, accept what we get and be happy with our places on the leader board in whichever event that rig is permitted. :gtpflag:GEEZERS RULE!!

I'm resigned to the fact that those esteemed Geezers on the top of the boards would thrash me in that amphibious VW Schwimmwagen even if I used the 2J.

I found a couple of Geezers practicing at the start of this video.

Realizing it's the last days of the Rainmasters Seasonal at Spa, I still feel compelled to post a little. It's been such fun.

I have learned the following.

If you have a wheel take your shoes off. And your socks. The wet requires sensitivity.
It's probably better to drive manual so you can avoid lower gears. The suggested gear is often too low.
My best race time was with the BMW M4 Coupe Frozen Black Metallic. Second best was with the BMW Tii Concept.
However, the best FUN was with the old muscle cars!
Best Muscle Car time so far is with the Nova.
Revising Double Gauche to Single Gauche is a reasonable survival strategy!
Late apex on "La Source" (the first right hander)
Draft whenever possible. When drafting, maybe it's good to switch sides of the track to set up the next overtaking move.
Learn the AI's lines and choose the correct side to pass when you can't see a 🤬 thing!
Keep the inside path to The Chicane to yourself. If the 🤬 AI tries to go inside you, go further inside. If the AI grabs the inside on the last lap, you are 🤬.
For me, SRF doesn't seem to make much difference whether it's on or off. When it's off things are a little more twitchy and maybe I get ½ of one percent better lap times. The jury is out, since I'm not that consistent.
In the final lap, even though the track is dry or nearly so, remain risk-averse to maintain your lead. Cross the line first by any margin, not the longest margin!
