    GTP RIVALS MODE REBORN
    Rivals 2.png

So here it is, the new GTP Rivals Mode. Rules will be fairly similar to last time, although the structure is going to be different.
Rather than waiting until the last minute each week and then quickly cobbling together a poll out of 3 random divisions and tracks, I've already set up the car and track choices for many weeks to come.

The selections will run in blocks of 4 different events; Circuit, Night, Rain, Fantasy track. Each block of four will be a different kind of car division; Road Car, Race Car, Super/Hyper Car, Touring car, with each division getting to run on each kind of track event.
The only division that will run more than once is the Forza GT Cars - one event each block of four, and the results of these will be points-based depending on your position on the Leaderboard, with a grand total after the final event at Watkins Glen (replacing the fantasy track for that block) declaring the overall winner. Points structure for the GT cars will be listed in the second post, along with all the upcoming events.

    Rules

    1. Use any car you want from within the division for a given week.
    2. Do as many laps as you want until the deadline.
    3. Cars must be homologated, obviously.
    4. Use any assists you so desire (drive the way you normally would).
    5. The deadline for entries will now be 8pm GMT each Sunday, and runs from that point until the next Sunday.
    6. Only times appearing on the official Forza Leaderbaords will count as if I need to say that.
    7. Add me on Xbox Live if you haven't already (IamVALHALLA) for Leaderboard compiling.
    8. Understand that I am one of the slowest. And I'm running this shindig, so don't be shy about joining in :D

And that's about it guys. Post your times here, brag, moan, grumble, and have fun.

    Start race scenario: Rain Thunder
    Mid-race scenario: Rain Thunder
    Mid-race probability: 100%
    End race scenario: Rain Thunder
    End race probability: 100%

I assume we are an honest bunch and will set the parameters correctly to keep things fair.
I've tested all tracks we will be using and with the above conditions, they are perfectly driveable and a lot of fun to boot.

Great, I'm looking forward to it! One question only, for the rain races will there be a specific setting (mild - thunderstorm?)

We can decide on that together once things get going. Obviously it'll have to be the same setting for everyone and I'd like it to be a rainy track for fun driving.

I'll probably have very little time this week to play, my wife fell on some ice in the yard this afternoon while playing with the kids and the dog, and as a result dislocated her shoulder and is now resting on the couch in the family room, but I'm definitely in no matter what. :)

No no! They are done in blocks of 4 weeks mate, I've done it like that because it is a recurring theme each 4 weeks; circuit, rain, night, and fantasy. I couldn't expect you guys to do 4 different events each week, some (most) of us can barely find the time to commit to one event.
So this is 16 weeks worth of rivals events, not 4

Like Fred, this week will see probably no participation for me. Have an anniversary today and wont really have time to get a lap in until later in the week most likely. I'll be back for the following week for sure though.

I'm pretty sure I've raced a GT car, probably the McLaren, around Mugello in an online lobby but I have no clue if that lap was any good.

@ImaRobot @-Fred- of course lads, life gets in the way and as I explained to @nExx earlier; some of us can barely commit to a single event each week (never mind 4 ) so if and when you get the time it'll be good to have you guys back on board.

I really did spend a lot of time setting this up this time around mate. Had to make a list of all tracks that support rain, support night time, and then constantly juggle them around to make sure I had a nice mix of everything each "block of four" to keep things interesting.
I'm most looking forward to Touring Cars around Nurburgring at night time - that's gonna be one seriously competitive week going by you guys' times when we last did the 'Ring :scared:

For the rain races I figure that it’s best to set a constant condition throughout the length of the race with 100% probability at the mid- and end race scenarios. I already run laps like that at Brands Hatch with moderate rain, what do you think?

That's probably the best idea mate, I'll run a few test laps with the conditions to see how it works out.

I ran at Sebring and it seems to have three random night settings, but when it is fully dark there is a glitch at the car selection menu that turns off the car’s headlights for the entire race! I think I’ll report this finding in the official support forum.

3 attempts just now at Mugello:

Stock ZR-1, could barely manage 2:01-ish
My own tuned Lambo Super (4WD version), just about scraped a 1:59.9xx
And finally in the #63 Lambo Super tuned by My Lord and Saviour @RPM Bibblefish I posted a respectable 1:57.647, and rather annoyingly lost control on the last corner of the last lap while being approx. 1 second faster (why does that always happen?).

I won't talk about my high 1:52 in the Huracan with minimal effort, then.

Which means my 1:52.9 in the archaic McLaren was pretty good in the end.

1:57:876 in Emile Frey's Jag, not tuned, very safe car. I think I´ve identified my braking and cutting zones for later runs in other cars. :gtpflag:

1:57:727 in the SRT Viper, this one drives on the edge of control.
1:58.041 in the M-B SLS, very balanced with room for improvement.
1:56.721 in the good ol’ reliable Flying Lizard Porsche, rewards patience and hugging those curbs!
1:58:630 in the CR.7. Something is amiss, I may have to mess with the gearing and brake balance.
1:55:411 in the black Z4 GTE!!! Really I have no idea how, it was in the second lap and I didn’t came close after. It’s light and the gearing is perfect for me, maybe I overdid the braking in the following laps.
    1:56:556 in the AM DBR9, it's a beautiful racer.
1:55:795 in the Flying Lizard R8, wow, you can ride most of the track in 3rd gear, and I think I left some time in there.
1:59:184 in the Bentley GT3... Next!
1:57:001 in the Maserati MC, got better after every lap, but grip may be lacking.
2:01.880 in the Ferrari 458 GTE. Utterly dissapointing.
1:59:639 in the F458 GTC, seriously, what’s wrong with the prancing horses!
1:58:456 in the Lambo LP 570. Not great, but better feel and less drama than the Ferraris.
    1:57:996 in the Huracan, pfff!
1:58:381 in the Porsche RSR, just not there...
1:58:205 in the Nismo GTR, I’m kinda stuck :ouch:
1:55:822, thank you sexy snake #93 Motorsports Viper!

Seen that earlier. Remarkable times already posted, I only managed that 1:57-ish in the same car but only did 5 laps and I'm sure I can improve vastly.

Hey, I didn't 'sign-up', but this seems like a cool idea. I hate League Racing, and would much rather drive around and set lap times by myself. Plus I love the GT cars! I just 12 laps in the '06 Aston Martin #007 DBR9, homologated but not tuned. Best Lap was a 1:56.363. (Gamer Tag is AlienDeathRay15). A great choice for GT cars, Mugello, it just flows and twelve laps just flew by! I am gonna try some other cars next.

Thanks pal! Much appreciated! I tried the 2009 Rahal Letterman #92 BMW M3 GT2 next. Managed a 1:56.597. BMW not as smooth as the Aston Martin, but still put up consistently 1:57's. Next Up will be the 2011 Porsche Flying Lizard #45 911 GT3 RSR. (I'm going oldest to newest in the Division).

The new Aston Martin is lacking some serious speed, couldn't get my way out of the '55s.

While they're somewhat flat, you still need to be cautious with the curbs. The cars are pretty low and will react strangely around some corners.

Turns out I've ended up with a lot more play time than I thought, so I went back to my good old trusty steed, the McLaren, and banged in a 1:52.2... Maybe there's more in it, maybe not, but it's the one car I feel most at ease with out of the whole division.
