Stewards Notes
** This week we are utilizing a unique qualification and car assignment system. Please review the following paragragh and the "Qualification Procedures and Car Selection / Assignment Details" in the Event Details post in order to familiarize yourself with the procedures. **

This event will have a twist following the "Two Step" theme and we will run two sprint races rather than one long feature race. Drivers will be required to use both cars during the event. Each race will feature drivers using both cars rather than having two one make races. The method for assigning/choosing cars is being finalized now, but if you drive the Lambo in the first race you must drive the Merc in the second race so things will even out. has now been determined. Please see the Qualification notes in the Event Details. The first race will utilize our normal staggered rolling start with order determined by pre-race qualification. Car choice for qualifying is currently TBD open, but drivers are advised to be comfortable with both cars for both in race and qualifying. The second sprint race will utilize a reverse grid based on results of the first race with a rolling start. To determine an overall winner a point system will be used. See the Event Details post for more information.

Also please note that based on the outcome of the driver poll, the NA race is being moved to Thursday, July 5 and the EU race is staying at it's normal Wednesday time slot.

In the event of a field of 13-16 drivers we will disable mics and race with one grid. With 17+ we will split the grid.

(table will auto update approximately every 30 minutes)

Eligibility

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form (use your GTP_ tag ID)
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B from your GTP_tag account.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

There is a 32 car/driver limit for this event (per region) and slots are awarded on the grid using a first come first serve basis. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability. This is a stand alone race and points are not tallied for a series. Future WRS-Online races hosted by 3D3 racing may have different driver limits and will require re-registration using the same first come first serve basis and participation in future events is optional.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your time slot, add a time slot or update your color choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend please click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as your status. Please also post a note in this thread as the table above can take some time to update.

Delaying or Restarting Race Start

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will only be restarted in these cases:
  • Multiple drivers report a black screen/hang, instead of the 3-2-1 countdown.
  • One or more drivers get disconnected before race-pace has begun ("GO" for grid-starts, end of formation lap for rolling starts).
  • Steward realizes there is a condition that would lead to an unfair or poor race experience.

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will explicitly NOT be restarted for:
  • Latecomers, even if you've registered
  • Driver realizes he picked the wrong car parts (ie, tires) or driving options (ie, Auto tranny)

Lounge Settings (@ GTP_3D3Racing)

  • Race Quality: Standard
  • Voice Chat Quality: Low (Disabled if grid is over 12 drivers)

Official Practice Times

  • NA: Tuesdays @ 8:00 PM Eastern / 5:00 PM Pacific / 12:00 AM GMT
  • EU: Tuesdays @ 19:00 GMT / 3:00 PM Eastern / 12:00 PM Pacific
  • Pre-Race: The lounge is open for pre-race practice appx 1 hour prior to the official start of each event

Course & Car Settings

  • Track: Tokyo R246
  • Car 1: Mercedes SLS AMG '10 (from Recommended Garage)
  • Car 2: Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 '08 (from Recommended Garage)
  • Tires: Sports Soft (S3's)
  • In Event Tuning Settings: R/A functions only
  • Example Tunes: N/A

Two Step Points System

Points will be awarded to a driver for each race and the overall winner determined by points.

The points earned for each race will depend on the number of drivers that start that race. The last place driver gets 1 point and points increase by 1 for every position forward. In addition the top finishers in each race get "podium" bonus points: 4 points for first, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd. This point system spans across multiple lounges if necessary. For example if there are 22 drivers that start a race (11 in A + 11 in B) points will be awarded as follows:

A1 : 22 + 4 = 26
A2 : 21 + 2 = 24
A3 : 20 + 1 = 21
A4 : 19
A5 : 18
A6 : 17
A7 : 16
A8 : 15
A9 : 14
A10 : 13
A11 : 12
B1 : 11 + 4 = 15
B2 : 10 + 2 = 12
B3 : 9 + 1 = 10
B4 : 8
B5 : 7
B6 : 6
B7 : 5
B8 : 4
B9 : 3
B10 : 2
B11 : 1

As far as the points formula goes a driver counts if they start the race even if they DC before finishing a single lap. If they do not return for the 2nd sprint they will not count towards the point formula for that race.

The first tie breaker is highest finishing position between the two sprint races (e.g. a driver with a 4th & 7th finish will win the tie breaker versus a driver with a 5th & 6th). Final tie breaker is finishing order in the first race which is run fastest first and based on qualification speed.

Qualification Procedures and Car Selection / Assignment Details

  • Type: Live Online Single Stint - No pits
  • Length: Single out-lap and 2 timed hot-laps
  • Groups: Group qualifying will be used if the grid size is large enough to warrant in order to avoid traffic during qualification.
  • Notes: Drivers not in the lounge by the time the first driver has entered the track after reset will not be allowed to qualify. They are welcome to join the race, but will start at the back of the grid. If we are running multiple qualification groups and the driver enters before the last group has entered track an exception will be made.

    Special Qualification Details:
All drivers can select the car they wish to qualify in. Drivers will only use 1 car for qualification.
Following the qualification session the driver that has secured Pole Position must switch cars to the one he did not qualify in.
All drivers must then select the car for the first race according to start position.
All drivers in odd numbered start positions will start the race in the same car as the pole sitter, while the even numbered positions will start the race in the other car.

Following race 1, all drivers must switch cars.
The Grid will be reversed for the 2nd race and drivers will line up for the formation lap in the order determined by the first race regardless of which car they are in.

The race Steward will co-ordinate and finalize the grids for both races so as to avoid any confusion and ensure all drivers are in the correct car / position.
Should a driver arrive late and miss the qualification session the race Steward will assign a car to the driver according to his respective starting position.

  • Pole sitter will choose his/her preferred side of the track.
  • There should be no overlap between cars in the staggered formation.
  • Speed limit on formation lap is 62 mph / 100 kph and pole sitter should maintain this speed (or less) to keep pack together, in particular in the final sector.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures are NOT allowed during the formation lap.
  • Pole sitter will exit the last corner and take care to give enough time to allow all cars behind to safely exit the final corner.
  • Start marker for Tokyo R246 is start/finish line.
  • The pole sitter should start the race by accelerating to race pace at the identified start marker (track specific and may or may not be the start/finish line).
  • All other drivers should accelerate after the driver in front of you does so.
  • No passing is allowed before the start marker.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated.

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:

  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. Be especially careful when you are on older tires than the competition as the speed difference may be significant. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

Seems interesting with the way it's going to be handled. I'm not to fond of the Gallardo's stock handling but this might be the best way to get better with it.

Going to sign up as reserve until I have a better idea of which race(s) I'll be able to make.

Very interesting idea using both cars, I like it.

One quick question: would it be possible to do only the second sprint race?
I cannot make it @ 19:00 GMT, but maybe 19:30-20:00

I believe you can still race the second race if you're in the room before it starts.

Sure 👍
It just means that you will start at the back for the second race and a steward may need to assign you the car to drive.
REmember too that quali usually lasts until 19:15 or so, if you make it by then you can run both races.
If you miss the quali but are able to run the first race the same rule applies and you would start at the back for race 1, but you would be placed according to your finishing position for race 2.
Of course if we have a full room (or 12 in a mic enabled room) it could be a problem, but we can sort that out on Wed. if necessary / possible.

I've signed up but its not coming up on the table?

You need to fill out the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form for the automated registration system to work for you as per the registration post in this thread:

The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B from your GTP_tag account.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above.

I'll check the google docs when I get a chance, but did you fill out these forms as well?

It's a one time form that gets you into the 3D3 / WRS online racing database.
If you've already done that, we probably just need to confirm your registration and you will be good to go 👍

Edit: ...ya, what Tim said ;)

I checked Holty's registration for this event and it's fine. I manually added Holty to the driver database so he will show up in the drivers list for now, but Holty please do fill out the form so we can make it all legit.

And don't forget the friend requests as we hold all events in the 3D3 lounges. Hopefully Marc can handle/accept the friend request next time he is logged into PSN.

Thanks guys for the info. I hope I can make it in time to the races. If not, good luck everyone.

Signed up as reserve for the EU race.

Hi I've fillet out the form now. Sorry I missed that in the info!

Updated my registration as I'll be able to make both races. I think I'll spend most of my practice time in the Lambo as I have only about 5 laps in it before I decided the SLS was better suited for me.

No problem 👍 There's lots of guys here that can help out with any questions or concerns. Welcome to the series

Nice! I much prefer the SLS too. Ever since running the GTP Qualifier it's been a top 10 production car for me.

Hi I've fillet out the form now. Sorry I missed that in the info!

First of all, welcome! :gtpflag:

Not knowing what your experiences are in online races, I recommend you take part in the official practice at about 18:30-19:00 GMT (approx 8hrs from now).
This is good to see if you might have internet issues aswell.
In case you have issues, we'll have plenty of time to sort it out. 👍

I've added Adam (Holty) to the 3D3 lobbies FR lists, so he's all good to go 👍

Nice practice guys, hope to see you tomorrow in the race.
Don't know if I can make it tough, but I'll try my best.

Did around 12 laps with the SLS before the tires were shot, but I'm not the best tire saver :)

Going to jump into a lobby for a quick trial. Haven't run a lap in either car so give me a wide berth if you join

Seeing we have 15 confirmed and 3 reserve drivers for the EU race this evening we'd like to ask to update your status.
Whether or not you'll be able to race is important for us to know if we should split up in two rooms or stick with one large one.

With one large group we'll be racing in the Lounge A (mics disabled).

By surprise I can't make the EU race again so I'm going to stay up for the NA race. I can't change my status from here so I hope one of you guys can do that.

Thanks!

@ Wes: Ok, I'll change your status. Also, NA Race is tomorrow night. ;)

@ Frank: Sorry to hear. Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks!

Took care of it for you. Canceled your EU registration and put you down for confirmed for NA.

Looks like you'll be safe in one lounge. You might want to start in the main lounge and stay there if only 13 people show up (13 confirmed at the moment). I'm pretty sure you'll be safe with mics-enabled for 13 or maybe even 14. With the two cars and swaps between races the mics may come in handy to organize/coordinate. If there are 15+ when quali is about to start you can always just move over and start quali in the A lounge right at the top of the hour.
