Improved my time with the RX-8 a little...
1'14.5xx
From now on my improvements, if any, will be in tenths or more likely hundredths.

I think I figured out why most of us are faster with the RX-8, it seems the gear ratio of the RX-8 is just more suited to this particular track than that of the RX-7. I've improved my times with both cars but I'll be playing my cards close to my chest until I post my entry. :sly:

Small thing, but can you use the speed from a previous lap to improve your submitted lap, or does it all have to be on Lap 1?

^ Welcome Oni91, but I'm not quite following, you run hotlaps in time trail and save your fastest ghost then post that with a picture. Check some older challenges for examples or PM me and I'll explain. 👍

:dopey: The same question as I asked before. The answer is "Yes, you can." Just a ghost replay no matter which lap it is.

No improvements...................all rx-8 1'17.xxx and rx-7 1'18.xxx
Anyone would like to post some ghost replays for me to chase?
Show me your mercy, guys~

Oh, I just tried and got 1'19/1'20. This is the first time I've been driving without the aids. :/

Sure :sly: :

I'm posting early just in case I don't have time to do it on the weekend.

Mazda efini RX-7 Type RZ '93 - 1'13.827
RX-7.jpg

Mazda RX-8 Type S '03 - 1'13.762
RX-8.jpg

Combined time: 2'27.589

Getting the RX-8 under 1'14 was a challenge, but the RX-7 was near impossible to get it to 1'13.xxx . Reaching my goal nearly drove me mad  . But in the end I was able to get into the 1'13s with both cars, and still be sane. :)

Good luck guys!

Nice times on your initial runs! Keep it up. You'll get used to it.

Welcome and great job 👍 ! The more you practice, the faster you get ;) ! Stay with us for a while and you'll improve a lot :D !

:ouch: ! Great job Dan360 👍 !

I just found out that I was running S3 for the last sessions -because of the Suzuki at Suzuka, the tires changed and I forgot...- So I was very happy with my times, pretty surprised too as well -all of the sudden I was way faster... that should have rung me a bell ;)...-

So I'm back with the first times I posted, 24 heures du Mans is starting tomorrow, it will end on Sunday afternoon -> then it's GP Canada ! I'll try to run in between or maybe sunday evening but I sure won't be competitive at all... wait, how long have I been saying that ?!! Has it become my thing :scared: ???

GT5 shot GT5 shot GT5 shot...

You lucky one !

MVR08, how GT5 is going for you ?

Welcome, Oni91!

We hope you enjoy your stay! If you have any question/comments/concerns, feel free to ask - we're all here to help one another!

:)

Beautiful photos, red ice!!!

thanks.
Everybody kept complaining of GT4-renders for standard cars (RX-7 photo vs RX-8 photo) around the GT5 threads and Video reviews, but to be honest...its the driving which really counts. I think some of the younger generation forgot about GT as simulation game and not just eye candy.

OK, got the RX-7 to a smidge over 1'18. Really I'm not gonna be happy until both times are 1'17"xxx. Possibly if I can push the RX-8 even further.

EDIT: And immediately after I post that I get 1'17"375 with the éfini. That for me is pretty damn brilliant.

I got some catching up to do, Dan360's 1'13 with both cars is insanely fast  I didn't think it was possible with the RX-7. I'd love to know how you tuned. Dan360, please post your tune with your final submission.

Nice pics red ice! Keep it coming. 👍

Here's my setup for both cars:
Mazda RX-8

Front/Rear

Ride height - -25/-15
Spring rate - 7/4
Damper - 5/6
Toe - -0.20/-0.50
Camber 1.5/2.0

Mazda RX-7

Front/Rear

Ride height - -25/-15
Spring rate - 7/4
Damper - 5/6
Toe - -0.10/+0.20
Camber - 1.5/2.5

Getting fast times isn't purely on setup alone. A good driving line contributes to faster lap times, but I'm keeping that a secret. :)

Nice photos red ice. 👍 Maybe you should start a gallery in the GT5 section.

Thanks for sharing your tune :)
Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say that there is no magic tune thats gonna make you a lot faster, the line is very important but a good tune for a track just makes it that little bit easier to stay on your line!

Here's mine:
Mazda RX-8

Front/Rear

Ride height - -22/-18
Spring rate - 8/6
Damper - 8/6
Toe - -0.00/-0.20
Camber 1.5/2.0

Mazda RX-7

Front/Rear

Ride height - -22/-17
Spring rate - 8/5
Damper - 6/6
Toe - -0.00/+0.10
Camber - 1.8/2.5

I doubt this matters, but you actually used the '96 RX-7. I tried it out myself though and seems the same as the '93 one, but had to tell you just in case. INSANE LAPS nevertheless!

^ it does matter... Thanks for seeing that and telling us before deadline !

@Dan360 : I hope you'll have time to run the right car and post in time :scared: !

@pvr77 : Thanks for your setup 👍 !

I ran my last session with the Mazda efini RX-7 Type RZ '93 and I'm down to 1'15.233 (I can see where I can shave off half a second but no patience left...)

I'll try to run the RX-8 tomorrow !
