Hi all,

Since I never met online many of you, I tried to understand where we all are from and what TV System we're using. So, I picked "our" division's list as posted by Sphinx and added to it the country and TV system (PAL/NTSC) tags.

We are a very international bunch of people :D from Russia to Colombia, from New Zealand to Finland, From the USA to Austria, From Portugal to Poland :D , from Great Britain to France :D :D and from / to many other countries.

And that's great! A true GTPLANET division :)

We are 76 players, 51 PAL and 25 NTSC

Tonight I'm going to send you all friend's requests through PSN (I'm not sure if the XMB allow so many), so that we can more easily schedule our meetings (before racing any official events, there's no harm in having a few races, is there? :sly: )


I'm not proposing a schedule or exclusive event for our division's members, and I don't even want that, because I'm used to race and enjoy racing with many other GTPers placed in other divisions, but if we all start posting here, saying what's our preferred event and what times do we race, maybe we can get together racing more often.


About myself:

In the current line-up of events I've been racing (late at night, only time I can play) HSR 800 (usually with a Vette, but sometimes with a Viper or a S2000). Being a region-locked event, there's no chance I can meet NTSC drivers there, but we can always agree on racing anywhere else.


So, bottom line ... I hope to meet you all on track soon 👍

Hey, I like the idea of formal events. I enjoyed the old Earth GTP race events and partisipated in the Team Viper-Vette-GT races. I think it builds great relationships and comradery. Any event you put together that i can attend i will.

Wondering where you got your info regarding PAL vs. NTSC. I happen to have both, and I know of some others on this list who I believe have both. Also, Jake I know for a fact has NTSC, not sure if he has PAL.

I'll most likely participate mainly in the registry events that Sphinx organizes. But when I do have a chance to run online, I normally have run Suzuka 600 when it was there and 750 of late. Also really liked the Daytona Road event, but it's gone. :grumpy:

Anyhow, glad to see some familiar faces in here and hope to meet some of you on the track soon. 👍

Hi Sphinx, I thought that Gold, Silver and Bronze were subdivisions and we were going to race only (at the early stages of any championship/event/whatever) with the guys from our category (Gold / Silver / Bronze).

If what you say isn't just because your worried about "threads count", but it means that all drivers in each division will race each other, regardless of being Gold, Silver or Bronze, then I'll try to do the same work I did, but this time concerning all guys in Division 2. Big work ahead, but nothing compared to what you have done :)

I didn't collect any specific info, as I said, I never met online most guys in Division 2. So, I just checked the Registry thread and added to the division's list the country tag. Then, considering the country, I assumed who was PAL and who was NTSC. Of course I know some US players own PAL copies of the game, but I do not know who they are (I remeber to race slicecom[CA] and CWR[US] in PAL events, but they are not in our division.

So, if any Division 2 PAL drivers have the NTSC version, and any NTSC drivers have the PAL version, please state it in this thread, I'll make that reference on the list.

EDIT: I'm still at the office, had to work late tonight. I'm leaving now, so I expect to be ready to race in about 90 minutes :D (unless the mrs. comes up with some compelling urgent matter to be discussed like ... hummm .... the house being on fire or something else equally irrelevant :dopey:

What do you say we do a private "Division 2" Qualifier? With a car we never see being raced online (Aston Martin, Art Morrison or some other of the cars we have in the garage, collecting dust since we bought or earned them) and at Eiger, or London (to skip the usual Fuji, HSR, Suzuka and Daytona).

If it goes well, we could afterwards set a series of events/races, among ourselves, based on it.

Thanks for initiating this thread, and I do like the idea of an unofficial "warm-up" TT with a rarely used track/car combo 👍 I guess there's no real reason not to start thinking about it right away...

I like the idea, but would prefer a race. Maybe Z-06's at Fuji?

I'd prefer a race to, we did a time trial to get our division, i don't fancy another, and i don't fancy the same car we used either! I'm kinda surprised i made it in Div 2, i thought my lap was completely useless, really wasn't made for me that F430+ Suzuka combo. I'm both pleasantly surprised and slightly disapointed about my performance :lol:, good to see some familiar names though, look forward to some great races to :)

Out of interest how many controller users are there in Div 2 besides myself?

I'm proud to say I haven't thrown it against the wall yet, but I came pretty close a few times during the qualifier :banghead:
 
@Sausages: Thanks for your kind words but, concerning the steward's job, I'll make it clear that either we trust each other or we don't. So, the "qualifier" I had in mind won't have any secrecy (we'll post here the laptimes, I don't even have a PM Inbox capable of handling this, it's limited to 50 PMs - Inbox and Sent Items together), we'll just post here what times we achieve and we'll have to believe in everyone's times without need of proof.

So, the only thing I can be responsible for is to create and edit the post where the laptimes will be published. If there are cheaters among us (and I firmly believe there aren't), I'll pity them, but it won't bother much with it. Let's keep those strict cheater-proof rules to the Official Events, run by Sphinx and whatever staff he invites to the job.


To all those that prefer races, I do also, but the problem is that we are 76 and creating a "championship" would be a huge task. Anyway, if anyone is up to it, I'll gladly enter.

But ...

We can do one very simple thing, using our "qualifier". We can split the guys that make the qualifier in groups of 8 (to make sure everyone gets in the race, even if wildcards click "start" at the scheduled time), acording to laptimes posted, (it'll be 8 groups, I guess, if 64 drivers enter) and each group will then schedule his own race.

Then we can have a "grand finale", with the race winners of the "group" races.

(i'm thinking this at the same time I'm writing it)

The tricky part will be this. No one will know, until a few minutes before the scheduled "grand finale", what car/track combo will be used (it'll have to be an international event, unless only PAL or only NTSC drivers make it to this race). As I'll not probably enter this last race, I can be the one who decides that :D but, in the improbable case that I enter the race, I'll delegate that responsability on any other division fellow.

It should be a fast-forward event (one day for the qualifier - friday, one for the group races - saturday and one for the "grand finale" - sunday)


Does all this make sense?
