Ok.

By the way I won't be able to do the 1-3pm EST slot now. Put me down just to do 1 stint 3-5 pm EST (which I believe is 7-9pm UK), in the hope I can get this issue sorted anyway. If I can't then Matt and Tom are on their own as originally planned.

Phew! Glad my stint is over, had a scary spin near the end which almost met the barrier! Had a couple of fracas with some HPDs but the car is undamaged.
Tom has just gained a position so we're now 21st overall, 11th in class!

We're now 19th overall and 10th in class! Tom's making great progress. We're a lap down from 9th.

I'm off to have some tea so if the situation changes with stints I won't see it immediately.

I can't get it to work. Maybe it's that you can't register for 2 teams, even if you haven't raced for one of them, so I'm out.

Have fun guys. Matthew you should be taking from Tom next.

I'm going to double-stint so Tom could can do the last stint. Tom has got us up to 17th overall and 8th in class! About to take over from him soon.

I've been in the lobby driving along side Tom in that test/spectate option. Had to get out there after the hours put in! Some nice driving Tom. 👍

Thanks! We're certainly not the fastest, but at least that stint was pretty consistent and no incidents other than a couple 1x off-tracks. Just switched back to Matt in the car at 8th in class. If we can just keep the car in one piece for the rest of the race, I'll be happy.

I noticed the incident counter showed 13x/17x - does that mean there's a 17x limit, even in a 12-hour race?

There is no limit, don't let that distract you.
Good job so far stepping up for GTPlanet after my colosal failure!

Handed back over to Tom, 13th overall and 4th in class! We're in a close fight for 4th with another team on the same lap but on a different pit strategy.

Tom has got us up to 12th overall, 3rd in class now! The final result will get decided by fuel I think because 4th and 5th have pitted several laps after we did.

Tom is doing an awesome job fuel saving and maintaining a good pace. He's got the engine map turned down and we are looking like we're making up just enough fuel to make it.
We're half a lap ahead of the car we're fighting and they pit almost half way through our stints. We both need to pit once more.

As long as we keep a pace that holds them at a reasonable gap and saves fuel, we should be looking good!

Even then, the worst case is that we come 4th needing another stop or slowing down a lot. We have a lap more over 5th place.

That was a fantastic race. I was really happy with the consistency both of us showed, and it paid off in the end. I got really nervous during the second to last stint, as my computer started dropping frames and stuttering horribly for 3-5 seconds at a time. Made it really hard to drive, but luckily it held on until the end of the race.

Thanks again for relaying all the race info to me in the last stint - I had the car on map 4 for most of the last 2 stints, but dialed the fuel up to 1 when you said 4th was catching us. Saved just enough fuel to avoid another stop, and managed to get a podium. Great stuff!

We did it! 3rd place in class! Awesome job by Tom, perfect pace while saving fuel! I would have been happy simply finishing with no damage and maybe making a top 10.
But a podium wow! I can't believe we just did that!

Wow!! Awesome job guys!! I am really proud and happy for you! Congratulations on an aqesome performance!
Again my appologies to Julie and Adam for wrecking the car and getting caught up on a bad situation.
Hope you can trust me again to be on your team for the next one at the 6hrs of the Glenn.

Great job Tom and Matt, smart consistent driving. 👍

Great job on the fuel saving too.

@Jav it's cool man. I've bought Watkins Glen so hopefully I'll be up there on pace for when it comes round. I want to do some other enduros and team races before then so point me in the direction of any you know. :)

I actually quite enjoyed doing the crew chief/engineer role of trying to read the race and provide info to the driver. In this kind of race its really important in my opinion, because its easy to feel under pressure seeing lapped cars catch and pass you or coming out of the pits and being behind - it helps I feel having someone keep you focused on what matters - just being consistent. It helps knowing you don't need to push too hard trying to attack/defend a car that is going to pit soon.
Having saw the results of the Daytona 24 I decided that simply consistently turning laps and not taking any damage would lead to an easy top 10, so I drove with the intention of letting people overtake me and just letting consistencey gain positions. I think this is the most important thing for the first 8 hours.

Putting in laptimes and watching fuel starts to matter more in final few hours, when it becomes clearer who you are actually fighting with.

I think the only thing I would do differently next time is each time we get to a pit stop and have just under a lap of fuel left, to try and push the fuel just over - at the end of the race each lap extra counts. But, I wouldn't turn the engine maps down at the start. I would do it later like we did as you do want to run a reasonably consistent fast pace so you don't end up too many laps down.
Having said that, maybe turning the engine maps down for the first 5 or so laps makes sense because typically you gain/lose chunks of time from traffic and battles than running that extra second or so faster. On the flip side, it can be harder to catch and overtake traffic and you get held up and lose time.
I think the simplest strategy is keeping the engine maps up or on average for the first 2/3rds of the race and then see where that leaves the strategy for the last 1/3rd. While the fuel can play its part, I personally feel we got the result more from being consistent and not making too many mistakes, better to have drivers focus on their driving than on their fuel.

That is awesome to hear guys with your podium finished. I'm really sorry I could make it to the race. I'm honestly a little upset at myself for not even checking if I meet the requirements. I will say I'm making an effort to get my class up to a 4.0 or C class if fast tracks are still available. I'm at a 3.4something right now and moving up quickly :). Btw I've been looking but is its possible to promote you self if I hit 4.0 SR or do I need to wait for the season to be over?

You just have to meet MPR for your license after hitting 4.0.

Nice job on the podium:tup::gtpflag:

So we've got the 6 hours of Watkins Glen coming up in a few weeks. Any plans to field some cars? I want to do it but I need teammates again.

I would also love to have a go at the Spa 24 hours but I'm away that weekend.

Awesome, is everyone's heart set on the BMW or can we change it up? I've not driven anything on the new build yet but out of the 4 I prefer the feel of the RUF. The BMW feels like driving a big boat to me.
I'm also partial to the McLaren but it can be a funny one to setup to everyone's liking.

If everyone still wants to use the BMW I'm happy, I'll drive anything.

It don't matter which car to me. I haven't driven any of the GT3 cars in a while and haven't since the new build either. With the new build out we should go ahead and try to decide so we can start practicing. I've got the most time in the BMW most recently. I've watched the inside sim racing vid from the iracing seminar that had the one guy, cant remember his name, that did the GT3 setup how to and learned right much about setting these cars up. Once we decide on a car I'll go back and watch it again and see if we can put together a good setup.
