My preference is always the Mid Engined cars, is what I'm most comfortable in, but have no problem whatsoever with the BMW!

I need sort out why I couldn't enter the race lobby at Sebring too. Not sure what happened there.

So BMW it is then :). If we're running 2 cars I would suggest we could still run different cars but probably makes more sense to run the same because we can all share the same setup - it also makes last minute changes to the driver line up possible because we can move drivers from car to the other if one has problems at the start like last time.

I'm probably not going to be available the next few Saturdays but if you want to test entering the race lobbies with team cars, maybe its worth doing some of Blancpain Endurance Series races prior to Watkins Glen? If I was free I'd be up for doing it.

Seeing as there's 4 of us, how do people feel about running 2 cars, 2 drivers per car? 3x1 hour stints each alternating?

I'm fine with 3 stints, wouldn't mind 2 either.

At Sebring we had quite a stable setup. I was amazed to see times 2 seconds quicker than mine so I decided to download one of the top guy's setups and was shocked how loose they were. I would say its less realistic but it yields much faster lap times so I'm going to give a loose setup a go in practice to see if I can trouble the top times.

Yeah, it was a nice setup, easy to stay consistent. To be honest, putting in good laptimes is not important. Putting in consistent times is far more important and not damaging the car.

If we don't take any damage and keep it on the road consistently we will finish top 5 easily. At Sebring we were not really challenging the top times but we made places each hour simply though attrition.

I'm up for whatever you guys want to do far as the stints. If you guys want to run 2 drivers per car and alternate hours that's fine or if we could get more and have 3 per car that's fine with me as well.

I'll host up a practice if you guys want to get on one night and practice some. I did a few laps tonight not very many. Watched that setup video again and messed with the setup some. Been a while since Ive driven the BMW so trying to get back used to it.

I might be around to practice tomorrow, I'm going to focus on long runs and getting info on how far the fuel goes etc. I'm not going to focus on setup, I'm happy to go with whatever setup people come up with and I'll adapt to it - I normally grab someone else's setup anyway from SetupSynch as I never have the time to spend tuning my own.

I'll be on tomorrow night and during the day on Saturday. I also don't mind about the setup.

If you guys want to practice tonight I should be around. I can host a session for us. What about 8-10pm or 9-11 pm eastern time?

8pm in EST is 2am in BST so no way :p

I just did a few runs to check how far the fuel goes etc. I don't think there's any point in using any engine map setting other than 1.
We'll be able to get 1 hour for a full tank and to my mind that is the easiest and quickest strategy rather than trying to minimise pit stops. I think the amount of laptime loss we'll have to take just to conserve enough fuel to save a pit stop will be way more than the time of a pit stop.

When it gets to the final stages of the race and its looking like we may be short on fuel, its far easier to fuel save then as the gaps are typically large enough. And even then, going to engine map 2 will probably be plenty enough.

For reference, I've been running consistent 1'50s with a full tank and the baseline setup.

Haha didn't even notice you and Aderrrm are in way different time zones. Unfortunately I can only really get on in the evenings my time. Only time I race any earlier than that is for these endurance races. I'm going to try and get on tonight still and run a some laps.

I'll keep tweaking the setup and see what I can come up with. I normally like to have a somewhat stable setup so should be good for everyone else. I did 3 laps the other night with the baseline with full fuel and I was doing low 1:50's as well then I tweaked it some and did a couple more laps and was doing low 1:49's. Still got a bit to go on the setup and driving. Not sure what a good time is for here though.

I'm running 47s with the baseline. Probably low 48s on a stint.

I tried the really loose setup from Sebring which I found on the forums and I could do a 46, but it's really inconsistent. Would be only good for a quali lap.

Anyone tried Jav's setup from Sebring? I've yet to try it but it might be slightly faster than the baseline.

I'm up to 1'47s/48s now but this is with the lower fuel limit for the Blancpain Series.

I've been using a setup off the forum found here (Tim Olson's 2nd setup):
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3321606.page

Even with the baseline the car feels pretty planted and understeer prone, feels pretty easy to drive consistently. I'm going to be running as many races in the Blancpain series this week so I can practice in traffic so I get out of the habit of trying to jump on the throttle in awkward places or leave my braking just a little too late when battling.

I think I ran the same practice session as you last night. I ran a low 46 with the baseline and was close to getting a 45 on a hotlap. I'll try Tom's setup and hopefully it can get me into the low-mid 45s.

Am I right in thinking the Enduro is ran in default weather settings?

Yeah, the Road Warrior endurance races are in default weather settings.

I doubt I can get down to 1:45s, I can maybe get down to a 1:46 but I think I need a looser setup for that. I ended up in a bottom split race last night as I qualified 3rd with a 1:48.5 but I was running consistently close to the front but dropped it on the grass on the exit of turn 9. Going to spend the week focusing on that one turn I think XD

I tried Tom's setup and despite it being more stable under braking and it at least feel it gave more under steer mid turn, I was running slightly faster than the baseline. Corner exit was a bit more loose though which didn't help at the hairpin. Might try 3rd through there.

Who do we have for the race this weekend then? :)

I'm still available. I doubt I'll be the fastest here, but I've managed to have at least one clean 40 minute sprint race. I've not been able to practice as much as I did for Sebring but this is a shorter race.

If there's only 3 of us, we'll just run one car I guess.

(assuming we're running 2 cars with 2 people each) which stints do people prefer?
I can do any stint and I don't mind double-stinting if necessary. I'm also fine taking the start of the race or not.

Also, has anyone done any qualifying laps yet?

I can still help out and do a stint or two if needed. I honestly haven't had any extra time to practice since the other week so that's why I haven't posted up here. Just been really busy this week with work and got my real race car back from getting the cage put in so been working on that in what spare time I've had.

I would prefer to sit this one out unless you guys need me. Love doing these endurance races, but during the real race season I don't have as much time to get on Iracing as I do during the winter months.

So looks like we're running 1 car? Are you racing @Jav? I guess we can sort out stints as soon as we know if Jav is racing.

I haven't done a quali lap @Ardius. You can run one if you like. I can also run one if you would like me to.

It's 2pm BST UK start time right?

Also what setup are we going with? I like Tim's, the one you suggested Matthew.

Sorry guys, I'll be sitting this one out. Couldn't get the day off, I'll be definitely doing everything possible to get the Spa24 weekend off!

Yeah it starts at 2pm BST

So just me and you Adam, I'm happy using Tim's setup too. Do you want me to take the start? If so, are you happy with these stints?

2pm-3pm Ardius
3pm-4pm Aderrrm
4pm-5pm Ardius
5pm-6pm Aderrrm
6pm-7pm Ardius
7pm-8pm Aderrrm

If I take the start, I'll drive defensively (i.e. let people who look aggressive take positions and not fight people), hopefully we start nearer the back or right at the front as mid-pack can be crazy.
Last time at Sebring I didn't take the start, but I drove every stint like practice and didn't bother fighting people, it just wasn't worth it. I'll do the same here too.

Yeah you can take the start, but I can't do 7-8 pm. I don't really want to but I may have to double stint 5-7pm if that's alright?

Well in that case do you want to take the start? I can then do the 7pm-8pm stint without you having to double-stint? :)

2pm-3pm Aderrrm
3pm-4pm Ardius
4pm-5pm Aderrrm
5pm-6pm Ardius
6pm-7pm Aderrrm
7pm-8pm Ardius

I've done a qualifying lap of 1:47.9 but I recommend you do your own qualifying lap if you take the start as you probably want to start in traffic thats a similar laptime to yourself.

OK sure. :)

I'll go for a mid 46, I like my current PB to use as a delta time so don't want to beat it :p

By the way is there a way we can communicate throughout the race? I know the text chat is there, but is there like a team-only chat?

Just to double check, we're using the team "GTPLANET_RACING_A" right? I'm not part of the other team so I can't join sessions with that one.

By the way @Jav, can we change the team names to something a bit nicer? I know the two teams need to have different names so what about:
GTPlanet Racing #024
GTPlanet Racing #025
or
GTPlanet Racing
GTPlanet.net Racing
Or something?

Well in that case do you want to take the start? I can then do the 7pm-8pm stint without you having to double-stint? :)

2pm-3pm Aderrrm
3pm-4pm Ardius
4pm-5pm Aderrrm
5pm-6pm Ardius
6pm-7pm Aderrrm
7pm-8pm Ardius

I've done a qualifying lap of 1:47.9 but I recommend you do your own qualifying lap if you take the start as you probably want to start in traffic thats a similar laptime to yourself.

Sorry, I've just missed out on entering quali.

Edit: ignore rant

I've registered the team, at the moment its stuck on "Please wait for sesson". Is that normal, or should you be able to enter the server?
