I know what you mean. They're nicely detailed and look great but they feel fragile. This is compared to my other cars of different brands (Kyosho, Minichamps and Exoto). The steering is often kinda loose and they don't weigh too much, feeling kinda plastic. Don't care too much though since they're on a shelf 99% of the time.

I know!
I moved my AUTOart Miura the other day, and went to put the headlights up ( a little switch/trigger inside the front fender) and I thought I broke the damn thing off! Much to my relief, it wasn't broken. The trim on it does seem a little fragile, especially the windows and chromed bits.

But isn't the detail what we're paying the premium for in this hobby? In the fragile departmeent, I believe that Autoarts are much better than the UTs(fragile door hinges on MacF1s, melting wheels, peeling decals and so on).

I must congratulate you on the 22B. It is a VHTF model nowadays. If you think that you'll break them sometime in the future , I suggest that you sell it before you do. :sly:

I would go for the #2 XJR-9 LM if I were you. At least that one was the race winner in 1988. The only down side to this model is that they don't have the Silk Cut sponsorship on the 1/18. :indiff:

Yes, you're totally right. This is why I bought AUTOart :)
What does VHTF stand for? Discontinued or something like that?
I never had any problems with any UT, but I don't have the F1 :grumpy:.

That 190 is beautiful man, I was going to buy the black "street version" (?) one. Maybe I will!

haha you're right, I don't touch them that much. It's just that it's bugging me. :)

Nice Jag model daan, and yeah if i were you I would keep that in its box considering the money it costs.

How can you enjoy a model without taking it out of the box?
Sure, I treat my models with the best of care and I don't take them off the shelf too much but why even buy a model when you can't look at it? :)
There's a discussion about this over at Diecastxchange and it made me kinda interested.

You know if you keep DieCast Model cars, in there original boxes. There value stays the same or goes up.

Freak, you shall turn me into a grave robber/tomb raider if you do that!

:guilty:

I need more Vipers, 1 Viper model is not enough for me and now that I have money I want MOOOOOOOORRRREEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Starting with the Oreca Viper

That site is also showing an Exoto Williams Renault FW14B for both Mansell and Patrese, and the detail in the engine bay is awesome. Severly tempting

The comma is not needed. The first full stop should, at most, be a comma. And it's "their".

And, yes, I know. I have all their original boxes, but what's the point of that? You can't look at them.

Haha daan, good point. Are you a teacher, or just a guy who loves it when people speak or write properly?

By the way, get that car out of the box! Who would keep a car in the box, especially when there's no transparent cover.

If anyone bought a Veryron or a Chiron (typo?) and kept it in the box, well... 👎 hahaha. No, really, I doubt somebody would to this for the Bugattis.

VHTF stands for Very Hard To Find. Before you put money down for a metallic black 190E, make sure that the engine block has the correct spelling. The first release of that model had "Merceds Benz" on the engine block.

Are you any plans to sell your 22B? Let me know if you decide to get rid of it. :sly:

That's so beautiful,*sobs*. That's it. I'm gonna start saving.
Are you talking about the Sauber Mercedes C9? I've got the LM winner in my collection. 👍

Actually, I keep my Veyrons in their boxes. Not that I want to keep them in there but I simply ran out of room to display them.

Wow how many cars do you have? To keep the Veyrons in their boxes, you really must have a lot! It's crazy to see you have two. I'm going to get my first one soon!

Also, thanks for the advice about that Mercedes, I never really checked, but it's nice from you to tell me.

About that 22B, I'm not planning to sell it, and I doubt I will :) When I bought it (years ago) I never thought it would become VHTF, though I knew the real one was. I never even thought I'd some day have an object that would be rare.

You know, what's sad is that lots of people don't even recognize it and mistake it for a simple Impreza. I'm glad to discuss about this with people who know about cars :). Do you think the price is going to get higher with time?

Edit : Do you have the Chiron?

Yea I guess it would keep it's value if you let it stay in the box but then you're not in the hobby for the same reason as I am. I don't actually plan to sell any of my models, but then again I don't buy many so room's not really an issue either.

I currently have about 130 1/18s in my collection with another 15 that I want to get rid of. The wheels on the two cars are actually different. IMO, I think the silver/grey looks better but the black/red is a more classic Bugatti colours. I couldn't decide on which one to get so I got both. There are two more colour combos for the Veyron: blue/dark blue and black/yellow. And I have a friend who has all of them. :scared:

The 22B can sell for $200 USD on eBay; more if you sell it during Christmas or when school's out for the summer. Although there are no plans for AA to re-release the model, it's hard to say if it will go up or down in the future as it is the case most models in this hobby.

And no, I don't have the Chiron. I think it's ugly. :yuck:
