The last 1/43 Norev I got was a Dodge Viper SRT-10 and it was a pretty bad model. The rear was too square, and the headlights had awful residue inside them. Though to be fair, that model is quite old. I remember seeing them available as long as eight years ago, and I'm sure it wasn't new then either. But the two 1/18s I have from Norev (Mercedes SLS and BMW M1) are really good, so I thought maybe that Viper was one bad apple. So I bought their new 1/43 Alpine Celebration concept from Le Mans a few years back, and I must say. I'm impressed!

My crappy camera isn't good enough to show it. The prints on it are very clear, even the tiny ones on the side skirts are perfect. I'd recommend this over the Spark version because it's cheaper; the proportions are far more accurate; and the paint looks fantastic. The camera lets it down a bit.

It was also a quick delivery. I bought a CD recently from Europe, and it took one and a half months to get here. This Alpine took seven days to get here from France! France is about as opposite you can get to NZ.

I'm asking this because I knew Minichamps also made one in 1/18 scale, and since I might get one in the future, I want to compare the two before I make the dive. So far I know how the Minichamps version's underbody looks like (through Youtube) but not the Norev version's, so I will be really grateful if somebody can give me the answer.

I really must get a nicer classic A110, because that one is... Not nice. If the sizing is accurate, it's a nice example of how small the original A110 is. And fun fact, I used a Morgan 3 Wheeler (in its case) as a camera stand.

BTW, is that original A110 made by Ixo? I own 2 of its models (both Subarus), and while they are nowhere near Spark or other makers in terms of detail, they are pretty nice for their worth. 👍

Ixo Altaya, which I don't know, might be a budget version? It's just their A110 isn't nice, though lots of makers seem to struggle recreating its shape. Ixo, Norev, and Minichamps all have one, and none quite look right. Headliner (I think they used to be HPI?) make a great one, but they are ridiculously priced, so I'd never touch one. And then there's a brand called Trofeu (who I'd never heard of), which seems like the best way to go for an A110 when mixing price and quality. They have a wide range of A110 body shapes too.

Oh, this is something where I can come in and help out with. Trofeu is a local brand, the only one of its kind in Portugal. They are quite specific with their scale models; a smashing majority of them are rally cars, many of them cars which participated in editions of the Rally De Portugal. Not a brand you follow if you want cars like the Celebration. But if you're looking for rally A110s, they certainly have you covered. This example, a special edition of J. Henry/M. Gélin's A110, is good proof in the pudding;

Thanks for the compliment (for both Trofeu and my car)! Well when you read Trofeu in Portuguese, it's accentuated like Troféu. And in French, Troféu (which is Portuguese for "trophy" should someone not tell by the way the word's written, by the by) is written as "trophée", which is a tad bit different from the Portuguese equivalent... Still, they have awesome rally stuff; I'm particularly impressed by the fact they included RAC cars like Chevrolet Chevettes and Ford Sierras in their mix, just goes to show you how much they focus on rallying as a whole.

And since you're a Alpine A110, and they have so many A110s at your disposal, why not buy them all? You know, support the country's industry and whatnot?

I'm curious where you got that fencing from.

It's a plastic grid I got from a local hardware store, 1€ each square meter, then painted in dark gray, the mains tructure is made by wood sticks.
I made a signal (150, you can see it behind the fence) but I'm not happy with the result so I've not glued it.
I was thinking about adding more details such as sponsors and maybe a race marshal who's waving a flag if I find one...
About the car...maybe a little big of weathering, it's an old model and not in perfect shape so I can test some tecniques

I'd go ham on dirtying the fence and white wall. Get some fine bits of dirt, dust and whatever other things you can find on uncleaned surfaces.

All with that Tamiya weathering kit of course; that makeup applicator foam (women touch their faces with) and such.

That's a great idea, maybe adding some very tiny stones painted in black to simulate the broken pieces of asphalt as well

Oh yea, the 934 is by far the best looking Top Speed release to date. I wonder if they have plan to do more 934 racers in different liveries though.

They probably will. Ignition recently hopped onto Porsche street cars and are in the process of making 930s.

Well, Spark has made a new GT2 RS in 1/18, a base model and Weissash Package. Not as limited as the GT3 RS is (1,911 rather than 911), but I imagine the prices will be absurd down the road still. I grabbed a silver one on CK.

Also, I've got a lot more 911s in the last month I've not posted.

I have not seen a gold R, but I'm not sure I want an R just yet. I did see the 964 RS is available again from GT Spirit, I may pick it up. I wish they did the standard wheels though.

It took me a bit to convince myself to pull the trigger (also, the price dropped about $30 after I had already bought it and has since gone back up, for some reason... ), but I may leave it in the box and wait until another brand makes it for cheaper, if at all. Otherwise I'll keep the Spark.

Like the 991 GT3 RS, Spark may have been first to make it, but GT Spirit has one too now that looks better and is significantly cheaper. And I believe Autoart is making one.

Not making fun of you personally, but that's in reality what it comes down to. That StratosWRC guy is currently in that state and I have to wonder if that's a lifestyle I want to aim towards.

I still can't stand that Wes dude at all. He has a HUGE debt from the student loan, plans to marry his chick, but doesn't really make that much money to begin with. So even after his first so-called "retirement" from the hobby, he just seems to blow his money all over the places, including his highly modded GT Hachiroku. Not to mention his weird tastes in 1/18.
