Once upon a time 11 year old Skython decided the best thing he could do with his cool new 1/43 787B is take it off the base and promptly drop it on his lap. Losing all the antennas and breaking off the rear wing in the process, and then do nothing about it for the next 12 years. That 787B has had a right beating in its life time, it also had the whole rear wing structure broken off by one of my sister's ex boyfriends (I like to believe that this was one of the reasons she left him, because clearly it's unforgivable). My dad helped me glue it back on, but ever since it's been on an angle, and for whatever reason we didn't glue the actual wing back on. But that changes NOW!

Once upon a more recent time Skython decided to display his lovely new Minichamps GT40 under the picture he bought of that same GT40, a lovely display you suggest? Well, you see Skython hadn't found a way to actually put it on the wall yet, so in the meantime he leaned it on the wall behind the model. It shouldn't fall, right? Right!? NO! One day some sort of gravitational magic lured the picture to fall, pushing the model off, and the case didn't stay to the base. The GT40 landing roof first, and broke off the rear grill. Did I fix it? No, I just decided that if I permanently left the engine cover open, you'd never see it was broken. But that changes NOW!!

And finally, once upon an even more recent time Skython bought a Spark Morgan 3 Wheeler, an odd car for an odd fellow. Clearly Skython had not learned from his past and removed the Morgan 3 Wheeler from the base. That would have been fine, if he didn't assume that the thin pieces of the model were made of solid steel! Next thing a 'too old for this crap' Skython knew, one of the two exhausts had detached from the car. Did he fix it? I'm sure you're getting the gist by now. For the next two years it would sit with the exhaust rolling about in the base whenever I moved it. But that changes NOW!!!

My methods are highly sophisticated.

Yeah, I'm making a big deal about using glue to attach small things together... It's not an impressive feat, nor is it an interesting development in my life. Yet still I say 300 words to simply say "I got some glue, and fixed things." You call it sad, I agree.

A few months ago I decided to showcase my 1/18 model cars with my newly-bought 1/18 acrylic cases, and decided to affix the cars to the bases with Blu-Tack. Originally I didn’t think much about the method, and my mother said there is no better alternative, so I just let them be that way for several months. However, now I’m worried that the Blu-Tack would remain in the tyre treads after staying that way for such a long time, and I couldn’t remove them after taking the cars off the bases. It seems my fears are confirmed as well, as I find it quite difficult to remove the cars today, despite not pressing them into the Blu-Tack very hard when affixing them before. So I’d like to ask would double-sided masking tape be a better option, if the method must not damage the model or the base (thereby ruling out the possibility of drilling a hole in the base for screws, because I don’t have a lot of cases to assign one case to one model)? Also, is there any way to remove the blu-tack adhesive that was stuck to the treads of the tyres?

I don't like the idea of any sticky substance getting into the pores of the materials at hand. I actually don't even like having the tyres touch anything for fear of flat-spotting.

I'm using felt/wool padding, taken from those things you stick to the bottom of your chair legs to avoid scratching floors, or cut out from $1 insoles and let the car sit on that.

It's ugly, but it's inexpensive and very likely to not leave residue.

The other option is to do this:

Do you mean something like this? Those might work when inverted and with some removable adhesive between the cushion and the base, but I don’t know if the adhesive on those cushions will be sufficient to prevent the models from rolling around when the base is tilted, and I guess it’s probably similar to double-sided masking tape in terms of effectiveness. Still, I didn’t think of that solution.

They won't stop things from moving. You'll have to be careful when transporting these if you go this method.

It's clean overall, but it was unpleasant to see black specks of whatever embedded into the body. QC has slipped. I shopped this out of most pictures, but left it in on the hood duct photo.

@MSZ if you're still interested... you know who to call!

AUTOart just dumped a bunch of photos on their Facebook page of some pre-production models that they're showcasing somewhere in Germany. I can't wait to get my hands on that FK8.

You are speaking of the famous Nuremburg Toy Fair, which runs annually around February.

AUTOart has done well to make this many announcements as they're probably stealing the show this year.

AR is still lagging behind on their products from last year.

If I had to choose between the AR Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster and the AA Dodge Viper ACR, I'd probably still take the Zonda despite how behind they are on it.
 
Interested in the LS500, but not a fan of the color choice. Almost annoyed finding out they released the white Lexus LC500 with the red interior. Wish I didn't go for the one with the all black interior.
 
That E-Type looks wonderful. I hope they release a standard Viper, though. Not a huge fan of the ACR as a display piece. Though to be fair, I only own two 1/18 Autoarts, so I think what I want isn't very important. :p
