GTPlanet Sunday Cup - Every Sunday! - New Event Photos!

Tsukuba is great. Maggiore Center is also a very good one. Like them both.

Long track can also be close ratio as long as the class is not too high and drivers are up there. We can see how it goes tonight and maybe change a track if it goes all well ?

Dont know if this is normal, since have not joined yet.

Room open in 3 hours from now.

Thanks to
JKcreativeworks we were lucky having celebrated another fine GTPlanet Sunday Cup event. Gentlemen, I do apologise for sometimes possibly not racing clean. But at least I earned one star for a clean race. Actually there is a big difference between racing against AI or unknown entrants in open lobbies. Though I'm not a real good driver, I do enjoy our races against gentlemen oppenents. I feels so good and I am happy to be a part of this community. Only reason to complain: bad weather at Tsukuba. :) I prefer sunshine...

I recorded three replays today. Let me please know if I shall share the link...

Some shots from the races today.

Here's the vid from my stream

Had a great time with everybody ! We were between 5 and 8 people today so driving was pretty clean through out the race. And the racing was pretty close and competitive.

Was nice driving with you all and JK thank you for organising on your hangover day. Go go go !

Here are all the pictures. Some race moments, some more stylish. Most of the cars, but I missed a few because I did not save all replays. A lot of drifting pictures because it was just a lot of fun. Enjoy !

And then the last corner @LineR32 made a huge mistake but still managed to get on track on time !

Maybe @DesertPenguin @Rinsky @Alpha Cipher @bigbeefytaco @Infineon @Satomiblood @Cold Warrior @PirovacBoy @Crazy Taylor can join us next week ?

Some great photos guys. @Macboyilija I don't remember getting air in the R34 though hehe!

What did I learn last night?
- Despite being my favourite, the R33 is a slippery eel and has no brakes and the R34 is so much easier to drive fast. (I'll make sure I have a Sunday cup livery for mine next time).
- I crack too easily under pressure, two races lost due to out braking myself.
- @LineR32 is bloody fast (though equally as bad in the R33).
- That I somehow managed a 1.02 out of nowhere.

All in all, good fun!

That 1:02 was very “funny” to watch. You were driving up front with LineR32. I was bit in the back being held back and finally escaped the mid group trying to reach you two in front. I had the fastest lap with 1:03,0 for 2 laps I think. So i was closing in on you two.

When I finally started gaining both of you LineR32 probably noticed I was closing in and he needed to push further and wanted to pass you on insides. But you didn’t budge and needed to give all.

Somehow after I almost closed the gap, you two decided to go off to the horizon and I saw that 1:02 in my screen. So guess you were in the zone with him !

Cracking under pressure is always good to watch when you are pushing someone from behind. My main strategy is always to try and let the one before you make a mistake when pushing. It worked with you a couple of times :)

With more driving and practice together this should go better. But the tension will always be there I hope when I am in your mirror behind you. Just like in real life lol

In the race where I was leading @LineR32 he was flashing his lights on the run to the last corner and I said to myself "don't fall for that old trick" then I missed my braking point and ran wide so the 'trick' worked.

The bigger achievement in that race was that it was the first time racing an R34 outside of Sport Mode (stock settings) with a quick tune I knocked up between restarts. Either way the 34 was easily 2-3 seconds faster than the R33 as you can get the power down without it wanting to drift. I really need to find a better tune for the R33 as I prefer it, but I don't know if it's glitched as even with Traction Control or Racing Super Softs it still drifts like mad?!

My other big secret was going for a stupidly short ratio gear box. It seemed like I was the only one at times as my acceleration out of certain corners was better than others and I seemed to be able to pull ahead at certain speeds without even drafting. I really noticed it in the R33 against some of the other cars, but that car's lack of stopping power and loose rear end lost me time in the corners.

@Macboyilija I wasn't keeping an eye on the gap times at all.

@BLiTZ I had the transmission on all the cars I drove adjusted for Tsukuba, and the Supra will out run the GTR's on the straight.

I did a time trial in the R32 at Tsukuba a few mins ago and I ran a 1.01.8xx.

I would like to have a discussion on what time we should organise these races, so everybody can join. We can also discuss what specs we should run.
Starting the races at 8pm CET so 20.00 was perfect for me. During the morning and day we can see more casual things. How would this work out for the rest ? Because we had about 8 people. I dont know how many people there were in the mornings and during the afternoon in previous sessions ? Want to hear how the rest thinks of this. No exact time means less drivers and more random joiners from open lobby instead of GTP.

Also for me personally starting with N100 or N200 and gradually tuning it up would also be nice. Maybe also some tyre changes like comfort or sport hard tyres. Track change is not necessary for me. I like it when one sunday is track A and next sunday track B.

What do you guys think ?

Fixed track is good, it lets people get used to the car and other peoples driving style. For me N100-400 is fun to race but it's mainly been the N300 class that people have been using each week.

I guess the idea was you can have your N200 car and tune it up a bit to be competitive with the N300. Also the N300 can be chosen logically. But also you can use your N400 car and tune it down a bit so you have 3 classes merged together.

But I will here from JK if that is true because I asked these questions earlier not knowing if it was intended to have different classes mixed N200 vs N400.

Good to see it was oke to change cars during the night. I do hope next time we have some variety in makes.

I would rather stick with 9:00 a.m. CET as 8:00 p.m. CET means Monday 1:00 a.m. Jakarta Time (UTC +7, i.e. CET +5), to which I would be sleeping when you guys are having a fun session (and when there isn't a holiday, I will be going to school)

@JKcreativeworks

Sunday morning is perfect for me and small tracks is key for close racing.
It would be also nice to have an average laptime to aim for all racers so the N200-N400 cars can be competitive.
Racers can practice and tune their cars to meet the laptime before the races begin.

Racing low powered production cars is always fun.

The Mazda RX-7 from today daily is also brilliant. Would love to see some Sambabus or Fiat 500 or at least Swift Racing. I love slower cars, cause the racing is even closer and bumpier without effects. Just brilliant.

To be honest the most fun I had with these rooms was the first one, as it seemed to be (accidentally) multi-class. Meant I could have fun battles all over without people just disappearing up the road

Yep,with one average laptime for all N-classes on a certain track ,a N 200 class car is competitive with a N 400 class car which gives a fun multiclass race.
Or do you mean something else.:)

Thanks for your clear reply !

I think your idea is brilliant. We would than have a drivers BoP instead of a car BoP with competitive races. The challenge is then not beating that time but getting a car which suits that time. And thus you will get multiple classes because some who are faster can have slower cars to set that time. This would also mean that people who are 2 or 3 seconds slower can get a really faster car than the rest, but still set the same time. How great would that field be to watch and be apart of ? So maybe we can arrange it this way for sunday ?

This would - however - only work if you could let us know the track and laptimes in advance. So if @Sjaak or @JKcreativeworks can tell us in time ?

That could work, but another idea would be have two time goals, kinda like a PRO and AM setup... but maybe there aren't enough people for that :p

Is there any information about tomorrow ? What times will there be some races ?

I had two friends who wanted to join but they asked me the times and could not answer. Maybe we can at least have some structure like every 5 hours a “race series” ? 10.30 and 15.30 and 20.30 ? So people will have some guidelines when to be able to join. And the rest of the day room open for small races ?

This way people can also plan their sunday a bit easier. Just helping out with some input from my side.
