GTPlanet Tuning Database Now Available

Time Trial or Time Attack filter would be useful, people are always asking for set ups in the seasonal threads and they are quite specialised.

No FF car option under drivertrain box and I would suggest to allow multiple tires selection, some cars tuned / replica can use more than one type tire :) Also ballast position can't be set to - value, in game it can go from -50 to 50 and wheel standard size is not listed.

Also an option to upload files like zip for replay would be great too.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. The bug which affected ratings has been fixed. You can submit a rating using the star widget near the bottom of the main column.

Field searching is something I would like to add, yes, but it's not currently supported by the software and must be built from scratch. I don't understand your request for "all" replicas.

Max. Speed field bug has been fixed. Good point regarding the nuance of transmission tuning; I have added a multi-line text field for additional comments and instructions which will be displayed below the Final Gear setting. Optional fields are not displayed if they are left empty, so you can simply leave out specific gear ratios if you want.

Noted. Most fields should only accept data in valid formats. I have added a required "Game Version" field.
For the "all" was in response to controller, so settings would be:

DS3
G25
GT-Force
All

Or something like that.

  • Add make, model (with year)
    • standardizes entries making them more searchable (once fields are searchable :))
I think this is very important. I know it shouldn't be necessary so long as people put the model in the title, but then, even Jordan hasn't! :D (Of course, with pictures as well it's easy to figure out, but standardization would be ideal)

Anyway, glad to see this, Jordan. I don't often do much tuning but maybe I can get into it now with this resource available. I hope to see it grow and improve as always.

  • A "Time Trial" prefix has now been added for the tune filter.
  • FF has been added as a drivetrain option.
  • "Driving Aids" have been added, which includes fields for ABS, TCS, ASM, AS, and SRF.
  • The "Ballast Position" field now supports negative values.
  • "Controller Type" field has been added. I'm not going to supply a list of all known wheel models in this field; any wheel-specific tunes should mention this in the description area.

How can I get the mobile app?
I'm using iPhone 4s...
As mentioned by rams, the site is designed to work directly in mobile browsers, so you don't have to install a separate app. You can install a shortcut on your home screen by visiting https://www.gtplanet.net/app/.

Once the tuning database is finalized and removed from beta, a new Tuning tab will be available in the site's main menu at the top of the page so you can access it quickly.

Thank

Thank you for explain. I have GTplanet app from day 1 of finding the website! Thank you

Looks to be a very promising tool. 👍 Very well laid out and easy to use. 👍 This will be a great tool for the Seasonal TT's and I have already put it to use. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together....you are the man.:bowdown::bowdown:

  • "Most Active Authors" are now displayed for every sub-category. (This will become more useful as categories for other games are introduced, so the top tuners of each game will be shown.)
  • Minor font size adjustment to improve readability.
  • Text color adjustments for darker prefix tags to improve readability.
  • "Add Resource" button will display "Add New Tune" when viewing a Tuning sub-category to make its functionality more obvious.
Nice! When is this expected to exit beta?
Hopefully within the next few days, provided no major issues pop up.

Hi Jordan,

I would like to suggest that for the car name (title), to find a way to be exactly the car name, chosen eventually from a database (or at least the tune adders, should copy/paste the car name (title) from an already existing one).

This, to avoid having there, unclear, "bla bla" car names. :)

I feel sorry for all the tuners with 40+ cars tuned that have to re - input them all as a resource

Does this mean I have to do this? :scared:

I was hoping for an integration of this new database (really cool by the way) with the tuning forums. Not sure how possible this is but it could be a nice suggestion.

Well, time to go play with the GTP Tuning Database a bit. :D

First of all I love how everything is presented. it looks really nice. awesome job. My only issue is that I can't get the ballast position to work. it won't work with a plain number, negative number, or adding a + symbol. Does it need to be fixed or am I just doing it wrong ?

I totally understand what you (and @DigitalBaka and @dylansan) are looking for, but that's not really how this is going to work, for several reasons.

First (and the reason I'm able to create this in a matter of a few days instead of months) is that it's built on top of generic resource manager software which isn't really designed to process or sort data like that.

Like our forum software and the software that runs the site's News blog, I can modify and tweak it to fit our needs here, but changing its fundamental architecture is a major undertaking and places a significant, long-term maintenance burden on me and jeopardizes the long-term viability of the feature itself. Several purpose-built websites for a variety of different games have been created over the years to tackle this problem of sharing tunes, but nearly all are abandoned after a few years due to the intense on-going maintenance they require.

I am choosing to embrace the limitations of the software, focusing on high-level organization and consistent presentation of information. Meanwhile, the professional developers will continue to evolving the underlying platform, and it will be easy for me to bring those new features here as well.

Also, this isn't just about Gran Turismo 6, or any single game - I'm looking to support a wide variety of racing games on both consoles and PCs, and it simply isn't practical (or possible, in some cases) to maintain a specific list of models available in each title. If the database becomes very popular and there is significant demand or need for more advanced searching features, then more extensive organization is something I will look into at that time.

Not sure what you mean, but it is tightly integrated with the forums. Every tune gets its own thread here, available from the Discussions tab of each tune page.

Strange. I am able to enter all types of numbers, positive and negative, into the ballast position field without error.

Sorry, I posted this in the morning when thoughts barely existed. :dunce: I think I meant to ask if tunes and tuning garages that already exist in the Tuning Forum would already be transferred, each with their own new form but I realize that that's just way too much work for someone. I found the answer a while ago.

I'm also having problems with the ballast position, and a few others, whenever I put in either the number by itself or with units. Other than that small complaint I really like it and look forward to using it when I get a few tunes done. :)

Well, I understand. I just thought it worth to try. :sly: Thank you, Sir! (for all). 👍

@Jordan

Ballast: I have an input of 45 on Ballast Position. That wasn't accepted so I tried +45 and 45%, same deal.

Displacement: My little Roadster has a displacement of 1,597 cc. It wasn't accepted in that form so I took off "cc" and still had no luck.

Thats about it.

Might try it without the comma also. That fixed a few of my input errors.

When it exits beta and features are smoothed out, I think a mass PM to all tuners in my Tune Directory will be sent (most likely by me I think, unless Jordan meant him, but I'm sorta sure he meant me lol), asking them to transfer and maintain their own tunes to the Resource Page.

I think I am going to wait for this to be past the Beta stage before all of my tunes get entered here. The garage still seems pretty relevant for people who like things sorted by tuner.

I've wondered how this might play out for big tuning garages. Not just for the extra work to reload your tunes but having confidence the tunes will be found.

Given the search limitations, you guys may need to apply some SEO techniques.

This is a more difficult mechanism to enter tunes into. Each field is separate where in the forum's I can just copy/paste an entire post then change the settings. Maybe a copy then edit function could be added down the road?

I will probably end up with my tunes posted in both places. This tune directory allows for someone looking for a specific car or specific PP range to more easily search for it. That is a good thing.
