More records added.

The new Dengue Dengue Dengue. Really is awesome. Plus 1 in 60 got the Sicker Pack too.

New Penguin Cafe LP. Clear wax. I haven’t heard this album yet, however PC are a sure bet so was an easy blind purchase.

and... I’m a sucker for Beth Gibbons & Portishead. When I heard a new repress of Out Of Season. This is the new remaster (Left) and the OG (Right). It will be interesting to see if the new pressing sounds better.

Anyone for some electronic, IDM, Industrial, 80s Sounding Hip Hop? If you are then this is a good pick up. I posted a track from the LP over in the listening thread.

I've been avoiding the record store since I have quite a bit of vinyl coming this month, but I just couldn't help myself. Who needs food anyways? :P

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Texas Flood & Couldn't Stand the Weather
Blackberry Smoke - Like an Arrow
Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around

I'm also really looking forward to getting my hands on the Ozzy box plus I have 2 other albums on pre-order (Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders as well as Avatarium (have another album from them coming as well)).

More records added. I should have been getting my hands on the recent repress of another ‘Everything But The Girl’ LP but the distributer didn’t send copies to my dealer. :(

Anyway we have enough to be getting on with. First up is a brilliant Jazz LP from the Bluenote vaults. Lee Morgan is quite a musician but also has quite a sad story behind him and his life. If you haven’t already, watching “I Call Him Morgan” is worth doing.

next up is a double 45rpm slab of coloured wax with heavy hitting sounds from Lapalux. Omnioverse is chock full of IDM excellence and if you’re an Aphex Twin fan or into similar music then this is for you.

Next is the latest from FKA Twigs. After her medical scare and breakup with Robert ‘Sparkles’ Patterson, she had a broken, heart and body. However she picked herself up, dusted herself down and wrote this LP. It’s great.

Last on the agenda is an Electro LP of music written based around the film ‘Fehérlófia’ by Marcell Jankovics. Some fantastic music by Jane Weaver.

I received the first of the pre-ordered albums listed above, if you like the slower Foo Fighters songs I highly suggest giving this album a go.

Next week is when the Ozzy box comes out, hopefully it survives shipping. :nervous:

With prices of 90s records being crazy, sometimes it’s always a nice thing a reissue comes along. This half speed master of Walking Wounded is a beaut and a welcomed addition to my collection.

Just a quick, minor OT: what do you guys keep your records in? I've just moved into a new flat and have been tasked with finding storage that isn't an IKEA Kallax but also isn't ugly or expensive and this is proving very difficult... Most articles I've seen with alternative suggestions are usually American so I can't buy the stuff they're suggesting here anyway, and their suggestions are either ugly and cheap or not ugly but hugely expensive. Like, ugly boxes for $50 or a gorgeous sideboard for $1,500 - I just want something reasonably attractive for £300 or so!

I use Kallax. It's cheap and seems designed just for the purpose of record storage. Have you thought about hitting up a local carpenter and seeing what they can make for you?

Have you thought about hitting up a local carpenter

Thought about it but haven't yet. I get the feeling we'd pay a lot and get something functional but not attractive, at which point we might as well just get a Kallax! That said, I'll look into it because I'm making assumptions.

If you like Jungle music, I can highly recommend this group. This is a new (and last) dub plate put out by On The Corner records and is 1 of 35 only.

More new vinyl!

Avatarium - Hurricanes and Halos & The Fire I Long For
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced

Next week my Ozzy box set finally arrives, plus I have poor self control and bought a couple things on Amazon's black Friday sale.

Edit: I also forgot to mention, with the above 3 albums my collection is now past 100 albums. :D

The floodgates have been opened!

First is the Ozzy box. I wasn't sure what to expect as I've never bought this big of a box set before. Overall it's very high quality and I'm very happy with it. The only real negative is that it will only have all his studio albums for another month or so as he is releasing another one.

Next is the Garth Brooks Legacy box set. He's always been a guilty pleasure of mine so when I saw this on Black Friday I went for it. It includes 4 of his studio albums plus a live album on both CD and vinyl. If it was full price ($70) I would have passed but for $40 it seemed too good to pass up.

Last is The Rolling Stones live album Bridges to Bremen. I don't have any Stones albums yet and since I don't really like compilation albums it seemed like a decent way to get them into my collection since it was on sale.

Cant beat a good box set.

Music purchases have slowed a little for me due to the festive time of year eating money. However I do have some records still on order from earlier in the year and this happens to be one.

Andy Hay is a Fine Artist and Jazz Drummer. He’s combined these two into a project of 35 years long. A one off pressing with each sleeve hand painted by Andy (he’s also done CD versions too). Inside there is a booklet charting the development and another painting (Signed on the back) which can be framed.

If you love Spiritual Jazz then you’ll love this record.

Well another stunner arrived. This time a 1 time LP from a guy who made his own instrument and played on the streets etc. It’s really one of the best albums I own.

I received another shipment of vinyl!

First are 2 albums from a newish Doom Metal band Crypt Sermon, Out of the Garden & The Ruins of Fading Light. The singer reminds me of Chester Bennington at times, which is pretty cool.

Next is the Warren Haynes Benefit Concert Vol 16, which is a live album he puts out with proceeds going to charity.

Lastly is the Crossroads Revisited box, which contains various performances from throughout the history of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival. It contains 6-discs of bluesy goodness and just like the Warren Haynes album proceeds go to charity.

On a side note, I'm getting close to the point where I need to upgrade my storage as I'm running out of room.

While I love records, this is a struggle. I’m not out of room yet and once my listening room is done (tons of work to do) then I’ll be able to expand, however I have a 5*5 and a 1*4 Kallax and they’re starting to get a little over used.

Crimbo Pressies in so can now take shots.

Warp Boxset - It’s big and beautiful.

Blackberry Smoke had a pretty good deal on their store so I figured I would get caught up on their discography. Now the only album from them that I'm missing is their very first one, which is unfortunately out of print at the moment.

And now I taper my vinyl spending back a bit, I have some stuff pre-ordered, but don't plan on making any additional purchases for awhile.

First record in 2020 (pre-ordered in 2019 so does it count??)

A new and fantastic EP by the always excellent Penya. Some nice club friendly African Folk music.

Here is my pre-order haul from January.

Marcus King - El Dorado: This guy has some talent, the album was also produced by Dan Auerbach.
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth: This album got me into NIN, so I'm thrilled to see it finally get a vinyl release.
Metallica - Helping Hands... Live & Acoustic at the Masonic: OK, this wasn't a pre-order, but it was one of the last copies at a somewhat reasonable price and I like it when bands do different things and they turn out well (unlike LuLu).
Blue Oyster Cult - Cult Classic: I'm a sucker for BOC, even if it is a reissue of a lazy studio album full of remakes.

February is looking to be a big month, especially the 21st as quite a few albums come out that day.

Two new ones for me.

Demon City Soundtrack from Tiger Lab

Arrived this morning from France.

Some Fancis Bebey records. Both fantastic compilations of African Electronic music.

Today I realized it's been awhile since I've been to the record store so I decided to rectify that.

Albert King - Live Wire/Blues Power: This is probably one of my favorite live blues albums.
The Birds of Satan - The Birds of Satan: I took a risk since Taylor Hawkins is in the band and it was on sale, the risk paid off as it's rather good.
Blue Oyster Cult - On Your Feet or on Your Knees: Again, I'm a sucker for BOC.
Captain Beyond - Captain Beyond: This has always been one of of those bands that snuck under the radar in 70's so I was surprised to find it as I could only find a handful of examples for sale online.
Steve Winwood - Back in the High Life & Talking Back to the Night: These were both only a couple bucks and have a couple of his best songs so I figured why not.
Nightwish - Live in Buenos Aires: This is my first pre-order of February, Floor is amazing.

That's very bad news, but thankfully nobody was hurt.

It is kind of concerning for vinyl though as I'm sure it will make an already expensive hobby even more expensive, potentially driving people away. On the bright side the increasing popularity of vinyl will hopefully be enough to draw someone to step in an take advantage of the sudden void.
