Having never heard it, I think it's still safe to say no. :p

I was reading this thread in Chinese class like a week ago, was thinking about joining, and then my mandarin teacher starts putting music on... Dx

She's been playing it almost everyday since then xD

I got Whammed!

Some advert came on for a christmas album, and before I could even think about changing channels, Wham started blaring out of the TV...

Watch out for the adverts fellow brits!

Still here, no whamming yet! I think I must have heard every Christmas hit except Wham so far.

Wham 'dunked... ;(

Eating my breakfast in a public place where there's no escape and it came on.... the tragic thing is that it was the first Christmas song I've heard this year!

Couldn't even make it to December.

Oh and another Brit bites the dust it's not going well for us.

I'm feeling pretty confident so far. Haven't had the radio on all week. Have avoided large shopping centres and I'm not likely to hear it anywhere else. I hope.

I survived the biggest scare the other day when out Christmas shopping... There a large chunk of the day, closest point was a poor copy of Wham.

TB
Tempted fate once again today listening to Pandora's Christmas music channel. The worst I was hit with was Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You. I promptly thumbs downed that abomination.

I have bad news... Mariah is going to re-release this song this year. Oh, forgot to mention that is a duet with Justin Bieber this time round.

I....don't even know what to say about that.:scared:

Does it count if you only hear the instrumentals and no lyrics? I haven't been Whammed! I just want to know for future reference. :sly:

Close call at macy's right now. They played it, But it was a chick cover.

For once, I am glad about the raft of terrible covers of terrible songs.

I got Whammed yesterday outside a shop, bloody Currys got me with their carpark facing speakers! :grumpy: Also I had to explain to my 3 year old what 'crap' meant and that it's very naughty to say it :guilty:

You should have went in and shouted at the manager... Just make up some story about how it makes your daughter cry.

Ha! China rocks for this game.

I'm suspecting my father will put it on the Xmas play list, so I have to ask, if I'm 'gone with the wind' does it still count?

One thing to watch out for. Say he renames the song, making you think it's some classic song... Whammed by your own father.

or kept the TV off between the end of November and christmas day).

Welcome to my world. F1 is now over, Motogp is finished and I have around 2000 dvds to keep myself and my girlfriend occupied.

Now what kind of fool has "Last Chirstmas" playing loudly in a car?

Probably the same kind of fool I saw in Toronto this summer. He was driving past in a prius, and shouted abuse at me for wearing a Guns and Roses T-Shirt.

What was so bad about him? The fact that he had Britney Spears' "hit me baby one more time" BLARING out his stereo.

The Germans have bad taste in music. :p

Not true at all. Not only do a large number of Germans listen to proper rock and metal, but depending on the city, you can find a bar catering to pretty much any musical preference.

I'm not a fan of electronic music, but Berlin is pretty much electronic capital of the world.

I'm doing quite well so far considering the fact that I have emerged from several danger zones unscathed. I'll be buying my girlfriend her christmas presents from the little boutique style stores she loves. Unlikely to hear it there. The biggest danger is ASDA (Walmart). I'll just steal my mp3 player back from the missus whenever I need to go there. The radio is only ever set to a classical station or Rock radio.

In short, I'm pretty well covered.

Guess I did dodge a bullet when one of those adverts appeared on ITV1 yesterday. Can you us how the ad started so we know which one to avoid?

I don't have quite that many movies sadly, but video games should help save me from getting Whammed! I will also need to stay as far away as possible from Beacon Radio because that station will definitely play "Last Christmas" at some point this week.

Ah, I'm still going strong in the competition. I haven't heard a single christmas song yet.

Well, it actually started with Wham! So it'll be hard to avoid, but was during Daybreak. My personal suggestion would be to watch the BBC, DVDs or recorded program's.

Updated 👍 Tried putting in a bad cover of 'Another one Bites the Dust' as well

Weird. Christmas music hasn't even started at the store where I work:odd:

My new manager is awesome.:D

My chances are looking good, but I just know I'll be hit at some point. I can only hope for a good story out of it.

I need to stop saying things like this. It never works out for me.

They stared the Christmas music today.

Also, TV is no problem; I usually watch recordings or Netflix. Also, I've got adblock for YouTube, and I deleted the song from my mom's Christmas playlist she starts in the house the week before the day.

Well I think the only option is to avoid ALL the adverts for the next month or so.

Also, I now understand that BBC channels aren't exactly a safe haven. That song could crop up on almost any BBC program, especially on something like NMTB (which I watch every week). One BBC channel I can almost guarantee won't play "Last Christmas" is BBC 4.

I have discovered the true purpose of subtitles! For avoiding Wham!

Seriously though, at last someone speaks the truth, I always laugh at the fact that mostly Americans think we listen only to some Alps Schlager or something, oh well.
By the way, you're living now in Germany or...?

On topic: Not been whammed so far, avoid malls though, except the one I'm working in. But my mind is so robot like when I work, that I don't hear anything besides my thoughts so I'm good to go. 👍

Still have yet to hear a Christmas song. There's lots of advertising for Christmas products, but no music yet. Am doing good so far.

Doing pretty well. A couple of days ago I went to the mall with my Mom (I decided to go because my Mom insisted she take me to the mall to fall in boredom) and a Christmas song stared playing in the intercom :scared: Luckily it was Snoopy & Charlie Brown kind so.. lol

YES!!!! Germany does have its own metal band too. Cough cough, Edguy, cough, cough. :dopey:

Also, I just thought of it, the christmas sales ads, the christmas song compilation cd's ads! It's almost December! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!! :scared:

I don't always listen to music but when I do it's schlager. I am not American or Canadian but I swear that all the radio stations I was listening to were not the best. Though I can confirm it was 99X better than the crap here in Canada. But it still wasn't any good. To be honest now that I've thought about it the only place that had a reasonable radio was Cancun, Mexico .

Don't get me wrong Germany is awesome! 👍

While sitting trying to get paperwork in order to buy a new car, Christmas music started up, seemed to be old Christmas standards. I said out loud "Seems to be only old Christmas songs, I think I am safe here.

Heard an interesting synth note. This sounds familiar... I looked at my wife, with a blank look on my face. At that point I may have dropped some sort of expletive. "What, what is it?" I nodded towards the speaker on the ceiling. "Laaaast Christmas, I gave you my heart, the very next day..." I slammed my hand onto the desk, and couldn't help but to cause a scene. The salesman just happened to be passing by, shot a glance at me and asked what was going on. I told him it had to do with the song that was playing. "This I've got to hear," he says. "I hate this freakin' song."

Needless to say, I ate my words bragging about how it would never happen in Oklahoma...I also ended up taking home a car from a different dealer tonight. It must have been an omen.
