I'm not entirely sure about the co-founder, but another 'big shot' who is paticularly popular among us is Famine.

As mentioned, I created and run GTPlanet. There was no "co-founder" in a business or administrative sense, and I continue to run all such aspects of the site myself, with the obvious exception of forum moderation. Famine also helps out often with the blog and there may be some more editors to help out soon there.
