Technically speaky no(sales, convenience). But the mod community will blow this game into nirvan.
I mean't in being realistic, this game has incar detail which looks so amazing! The cars do handle like real cars but gt4p cars do handle alittle more realistic.

cobra, for once I agree with you. In terms of realism, all I'm commenting on is how it plays with the ps2 pad, as I use my ps2 pad on the pc also :)

I found the cars in the GTR demo to feel more realistic then GTP, but ya know what. Who cares. Both games are gonna rule, and well, GT4 will have 500+ cars with customisations...and GTR won't. GTR will be a much more hardcore indepth track racing game, with HUGE amounts of cars on track at once.

Awwwww and the sound effects...Jaw dropping, RARRRRRRRWWWRWRWRWRWRWR!!!

I know what you meant, thats why I said technically. GTR2002 had a learning curve with all aids off. I'm guessing GTR will be just as difficult without aids or proper racing wheel for newcomers.

I'll give the demo a try later and prey it will run on my old machine.

code dont forget the future mods :)

GT4 will still be a more popular game even if something horrid should hapen and it turned out crap (which won't happen, and I know what you both meant), I'm downloading the demo now, it's graphics are better than GT4's but I'll have to wait a bit until I say anything about it's handleing.

Yes, these 2 games will be the sims of the year, nothing imo can touch em. I'm actually excited for this one like gt4, well almost as excited :P The amount of the cars is great, lets all hope psm's info on gt4 have 16 cars on track to be true. Cant wait till E3, I needs the solid answers

liveforspeed, in the lister, when your in 5 gear, at about half way up the rev counter, slap it in 4th, and just allow your jaw drop at the sound the car makes ;)

Yes, the car sounds made me cry, I never knew a game could sound so damn good!!! The graphics are tight, but gt4 seems to have more depht in its graphics as for looking realistic and whatnot.

I dont know how PD does it. Perhaped its the non realtime lighting seeing other games that use real light come off not looking as good.

IDK how pd does it either, they just have a quality in gt4's graphics that imo wont be surpassed til next gen or on a pc. What do you think of the demo? I thought it was AAA. This will be a big challenge to gt4

I know what you mean Cobra, but GTR's graphics are far better. No jaggies, much further draw distance, higher quality textures and a higher poly count. The cars nd tracks look spot on as well but maybe it's all a bit too sharp and clean, GTR's are better though.

If you are talking technical live, I agree to the fullest. I didn't see jaggies, didn't look em anyway. But gt4 might be technically inferior, but it just looks more realistic but GTR looks amazing, second best looking game I have seen. Race Legends can't compare. Why can't gt4 sound half as good as this game? Damn ps2 and its weak sound support :banghead: Even pgr2 sounds more realistic and it's a arcade game :irked:

Well it's simple.

The fact that PGR2 is acrade means nowt, the XBOX has a more powerful sound chip, and bizarre creations took ages doing the sound for it. If your ever bored, search the bizarre forums for the peeps who did the sound for it, the dedication of these peeps is eye opening lol

Plus 500 + cars...thats a hell of alot o sounds :)

From what I heard, the ps2s sound system is only 2 ps1 sound chips :(

Not sure where you heard that about the 2 chips, I've never read anything like that. But the PS2's sound is not as god as other consoles, but it does do the job and can create better sounds than a lot of the cars in GT3.

I tried this game yesterday and I couldnt do any racing. The cars wouldnt get up over 48mph no matter what I did.

This is from the bizarre forums, a quote from the bizarre creations dev Elvis, I hope he doesn't mind me quoting him

"The audio hardware in the PS2 is just 2 PS1 audio chips with more memory (2MB instead of 512KB), and they don't have the DSP processing available on the Xbox either. We had about 3 days to each of the cars in PGR2, they have around 700 cars to do plus tuning changes so even with a huge audio team that's a job I dont envy.
I'm demonstrating the prototype of our brand new audio system at a Dolby event in May."

When he says 700 cars, he's refering too gt4 ofc

pre "L" to turn the rev limiter off, DUHHH!!

Well , those screenshot are really nice and the graphics are really amazing too. But please , move this thread to pc gaming !

I can now say this is much, much more realistic than GT4:P, the power that you can feel in the cars is just right, you have to hold off the throttle just the right ammount, if you floor a high powered car in GT4:P you get some wheelspinand thats it, if you do that in real life you spin. in GTR you spin, also the cornering, your much more on the edge of losing control in GTR whereas in GT4:P you still have do something really wrong to spin. The cars balance is just right too although if you don't have a wheel don't bother even trying this game witghout any aids, I tried using the keyboard just to see and it was horrible but it's a dream with a wheel, in fact using the GT Force Pro, it's better than GT4:P is.

After playing GTR, it kinda shows that GT games really arn't hardcore sims, as some people like to make out. BTW I played GTR with my ps2 pad with no probs.

I knew that before though from games like Live For Speed and Grand Prix legends. But the handling of the GT series is spot on for a console game and it attracts sim lovers and people who swing more for arcade games can get some satisfaction as well. Remeber though, although the handling in the GT games is like having driving aids permanently on, the perfomance of the cars in the games especially GT4:P is spot on.

Live has a point about the power of the car and how they start off but gt4p cars still drive more realistic to me. Right now, that's the only think GTR has over gt4p.

Cobra, you are aware that the cars physics on GTR are done using proper telemetry data from FIA GT teams? There is NO game more realistic. No argument. Plus it's on a pc, thus better :) RAWR! 56 cars on track at once w00t.

In terms of the cars perfomance maybe, but GT4:P is like driving a car with loads of driver aids on, in real life you can spin a car with 120Bhp if you push it but it's almost impossible to spin a car lke that in GT4:P. Theammount of power put to the wheels is restricted, it makes it harder for you to lose control and spin and it reduces the wheelspin from a standing start and as a result it makes the whole experience easier than in a real simulation or than in real life. Not that thats a bad thing, because if people were always losing control using the pad, GT would not be as succesful a game as it is.

You all got good points. But there's no deny gt4 will be a bad ass sim. I dont think GTR is all that more realistic than gt4p, maybe I'm not paying attention enough.
