Well Veil, cough the answer up, its time for another pic.

I gave you all the info there for a spot-on google of it .

Its the Sikorsky S-6 that is in the two photos , not the subsequent S-6a etc .

Mr Sikorsky managed to construct a wind-tunnel of sorts to test the frame , and for a while it was the fastest aircraft in existence .

Duke should have the next one as he came closest and seemed to know which one .

I hope it's not too bad...

OK here is a tough one (i think), if its too tough, just say and I'll replace it.

I think it's Russian (or Soviet), Myasishchev M-50 if I recall right.

If I'm right, someone else can post the next picture. If I'm not, well, you know what to do. ;)

and yeah Greycap you were right on mine, M-50 / M-52, Myasishchev nickname: Bounder.

I didn't know that the Soviets copied the Me262 too! I know what it is, but I Googled it so it isn't allowed as an answer. :indiff:

:sly: whooo found a tough one then. I bears resemblance to the Me262, but no relation. Any other guesses?

...I Googled it...

There seems to be some confusion as to what the Soviet 262 knockoff really was designated as. Are you getting two very different planes when you Google around?

EDIT:

Ha! There were two planes that carried the same designation! Very confusing.

Oh, those inscrutable Russkies...

Hint: This was an experimental plane, until cancelled. Shared a designation but was also referred to as something else.

It seems that no one knows this plane without Googling it. Give us the answer and another picture if the situation remais the same.

All right, here. Not it's most flattering angle, but it would be too easy from other views.

King Cockery, it was a bit presumption to stick your 'candidate' up without the complete full correct answer being submitted. Even if the previous plan is a dehavilland, we would still like the model identified before the next plan is posted. 👍

It's a de Havilland Chipmunk. Easily identifiable by the "de Havilland tail", similar to the tail of the Mosquito and the Hornet for example. :)
