If not american, a weird shifter like that obviously make me think its a French car, like Citroen. They have done many weird, stupid solutions to problems that didn't exist in the first place over the years.

heh, there is no way that east german crap would be american.:crazy:
Fun fact, the Trabant is one of only a handful cars that have no fuel pump at all. the tank is mounted on top of the engine, using gravity to make it flow through the carburettor:P

Well, the cover for the OBD socket is reminiscent of a Golf IV, so thats my second guess then...
