has any1 here ever entered in one of the many gumball races? how many tickets did you get? and what was your top speed?

u have to race a long distance eg, across america, London to Rome etc. Basically u get a nice car and speed it, sounds easy but from wat i've seen u get alot of speeding tickets and some ppl get locked up
there was one across america recentley and there were korensegg (w/e) CC's and all sorts in it

u do have them across america. I was watching it and some guy tried in a lotus elise. The dumbass, its one of teh most uncumfortable cars around, gret racer but uncomfortable. And he did his clutch in, and elise parts in common in maerica

It isnt exactly a race. It a 'race'. If it was a full blown race, then they would be pushing their cars hardcore the entire way...which is not what they do. Its cool, but I think theyre all a bunch of morons.

Yeah they have them in the US (www.gumball3000.com) I plan on entering somtime in my lifetime, ofcourse it would be in a GTR and I'd keep it floored but I'd try to avoid tickets :D Everyone who goes on it says it's one of the best things they've ever done. I have one of the videos and it looks like a blast. It's very expensive to enter though :(

I wasn't in it, but I've witnessed parts of it. We, my friend and I, were driving down the road, its basically in the middle of nowhere, and a Porsche (It may have been a RUF) flew up from behind us. The road was narrow, so my eyes may be playing tricks with my mind, but I would estimate they were going well over 160. A few minutes late a pack of cars came up, but they weren';t going over 140. Crazy stuff..

I suppose you could say these guys are jerks etc.... Well so what in these sanitised times (and roads) we live in I say good on em theres nothing like a good cross country thrash. :trouble:

i'd just take a chevelle out there. i love it when i see the true muscle cars tear up the ricers. or if i wanted more comfort maybe a mercedes. hah...

Hmm, I should enter in the S14.

The SR20DETT (yes, TT, as in Twin Turbo) will make quick work of those straightaways, and the TEIN FLEX and EDFC will make those corners disappear.

Now to just gather....

holy crap! That much money?!!

Ok, never mind....

I'd love to enter one of those across the USA in a Shelby Cobra, although parts would be scarce :( So the Evo would probably be my second choice. Something like that sounds like the greatest road trip ever.

And that Gumball 3000 movie skylineGTR_guy linked to opens tommorow in the UK (or is it already the 20th over there?).

I had a video of this. There weren't any Japanese cars that I saw. There were a few BMWs, a Mercedes CLK 55 AMG, Ferrari F40/50 (I think thats what they're called, huge box like car  ), RUF. Hahaha, and you think a Chevelle would stand a chance? Maybe a highly modified Chevelle, but nothing that would cost your short of an arm and a leg.

The video taped the guys speedometer at 200mph.

By the way, I DLed the video from http://www.car-videos.com > Street Racing > Gumball 3000.

Ricer: A word misused by %80 of the people who use it.

There are two types of these races. The well known, public event's like the Gumball 3000. And then there are underground, invitation only event's that have a healthy pay-day at the end. From what I've heard/read, they also have a healthy entry fee, which is why most of the car's in the event are obscenely expensive. Poor people need not apply.

these guys are dumbasses. ive seen both gumballs and they are just rich fags that dont know how to drive for ****. hmmmm , why is it in each vid there are atleast 5 scenes showing wrecked cars, susually that have had an incedent with civilian drivers?

DUMBASSES

guy from a clip i just saw on jackass of original gumball race..... british fag accent "its an 850i.......v12"

the 850i is a piece of ****, i wouldnt be so happy to look like an asshole acting like its something special.

id like to run my car in something like this in the future. It would be tough to keep up with some of the exotics with an NA 4-cylinder (i HATE turbos), but when its fully built it will be worthy of an appearance.

I saw a GTR with an F-16 feul pump in the gumball I have. Next time they come through AZ I'll pull out my video camera and see if I can get some good action.

The bloke who does the Canonball run has asked my dad to do the photographs for the next one. That means he'll have to go along for the race and drive like the clappers. Yet he turned it down :odd: .

 sorry but your n/a four banger will still be left in any exotic's dust's dust...

you know nothing of my car. im overwhelmed you can be such a dick without knowing what you are talking about.

I saw the one across america and a korensegg CC reached 240mph apparently. Yeah okay its good to win but aslong as you keep up you get to see some of the most expensive cars around

ya againts cars like those the chevelle would have to have a pretty hot engine in it.

[/B]Ricer[/B] - used to descride little ****ters that have 4 banger whiney engines. not necessarilly japanese. most ricers would be found in the parking lot of a high school with spoilers that do absolutly no good. they include cars such as: Honda Civic, Altima, corrolla, pretty much every Acura, Dodge Neon, sunfire, etc. the term ricer was made because people try to race cars that have no power at all and they think because they have annoying mufflers and racing stickers all over them that it makes them fast when truth be known i can beat most of them with my dads red neck truck. and no joke i have. if ur gonna claim ur car is fast, make sure it really is.

Why would you want to twin turbo a 2.0l 4cyl? The turbo lag would be crazy. It's definitely possible, but performance wise, it wouldn't be worth the money. You'd be better off just getting a bigger single turbo.

As for the Gumball run, there are actually several races like it. There's the 'Gumball Run', 'Player's Run', and 'Cannonball Run' (that I know of. There might be more that I haven't heard of). http://www.teckademics.com/ has videos featuring them. They're pretty entertaining. I'd recommend checking them out.

i'm still scratching my nutts over the fact that you think your n/a 4cyl can compete against v10 and v12 exotics. there is NO replacement for displacement...
