No, mine doesn't have any symbols.

To be fair, if someone sets their password to A1B2, they are asking for their user to be taken.

True

The way I see it most of those people who claim they will hack you are full of wind.

I supposed there would be individuals who could but with that kind of talent why would you bother?

If someone says they are going to hack you, what makes everyone think that they are going to use their PS3?

Maybe they have a laptop/desktop next to them. Is it possible then? Could someone hack someone else's account using a program on a laptop/desktop computer?

This question is mostly for cargo rat, as he has a background in this stuff.

Can I have a leymans answer please, I'm a complete noob in these matters.

You are correct.

Ok bit I do not get what this discussion is about anymore. Yes it is pretty much impossible to hack someone console vs. console.

Like i have said before pretty much the only way to get someone individually on psn is by attacking their personal network through a program on said PC.

Far as password guessers Hummmm i guess you could call it hacking but it really isn't that far as hacking.

PSN isn't untouchable by any means. Neither is Microsoft. I still love how people are like "that's why xbox live is so untouchable" it really does make me laugh. But nothing is secure on the Internet. Nothing. Why do you think there are so many firewalls (plural)? There always has to be a back door. It just takes longer to get in that way.

How easy is it very easy. You don't have to have a degree to do any of this. Just have to figure it out.

I think the topic was how likely is it that you will be hacked by someone threatening to do it in a lobby.

He was asking about someone stating he was going to hack him.

Basically I will say this.

Hacking from PS3 console to console pretty much impossible (never know though at least it is un-heard of)

People have found ways to exploit games to basically glitch people though. For example.... Red dead redemption. There was a glitch people called a hack. It involved undead nightmare DLC pack. Basically in undead overrun game mode after you get holy water or undead bate you die with it in your hand. Then go to normal free roam and go back to the place where you died. Pick up the holy water or undead bate. Then throw it at someone in free roam.

Undead bate- when hit with it will freeze your PS3

Holy water- when hit with it will freeze your PS3 and de-rank you to level one.
This glitch was later patched. Which it a glitch not a hack because it was already in the game. There is a fine line between a hack and glitch.

But in his case and others I have seen for almost 2 years on GT5 that type of exploit is not there.
Only way to "hack" If you will is to attack the network aka host boot or network overloading. Which will just make someone get kicked offline. I have seen this happen personally. I am not going to say how to do it either (reason i don't want people doing this because it is really easy) even though I know how. It is pointless to me. And people that think they are cool and trolling by doing this... Just a news flash it isn't trolling.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I've not seen any evidence of someones PSN or XBL account being actually "hacked".

When Sony was hacked did "they" snag user data? If so did that data contain a list of usernames and passwords? If it did that data could still be "out there" and easily accessed or possibly for sale.

I honestly can't remember what data was or wasn't stolen and have been wondering about this for some time. It's actually the reason I don't put my PS3 name on forums. If anyone would care to enlighten me I would appreciate it. I've been bitten before by stolen data so I tend to be cautious.

I believe it was cc numbers and email addresses.

I think people find ways of exploiting glitches in all games or at least until they're patched out, then more get discovered. Some are used for causing chaos, some just for making the game easier, or levelling faster whatever. I personally don't bother with anything like this in GT5, not a purist, I'm just lazy to even find out about them because they don't concern me, unless someone did something to me that made me want to know what it was and how to (possibly) prevent it from happening in the future.

I mean I don't even use the backup save trick for using tickets - or closing and reopening GT5 in order to get the right paint on the xxx cars in your garage reward. These things are used frequently, I just can't be bothered, and think the car I get from a ticket is fine, even if I already have it - and I know tickets are not easy to come by, neither are 0/0/0 cars, but still, I can get all the cars possible in the game (meaning not chromes/stealth/DLC's I don't have) through a little bit more effort, and just playing the game normally, which I enjoy and would rather do than trading for a 1970 ticket and spending an hour or more trying to get a 2J, I just buy them when they get in the UCD and I have enough, or if they're even in the OCD.
