It's good to hear that you are enjoying your new wheel, and I do agree that it does help you with your lap times and your driving in general. It also gives you a better feel for the car, and I find myself braking in the correct braking zones when driving with a wheel compared to a controller. I do want to know however, how did you get your wheel so cheap? The cheapest I found a wheel for at the time of buying was £80 for the same wheel.

popped in my local cash converters, was in one of the cabinets, marked at £37 thought it was wrong so i asked and the price was right, they cant have known what it was or worth. im slower than my previous times at the moment but itll take a while to settle in with the wheel and get it set up how i like.

Quite lucky :) .

Not new from Cash Converters then.....

yeah, at that price i had to have it, has skint me for the month but soooo worth it.

yep brand new box sealed, all items in there packages with the twistees still on. still had protective plastic protector thingy on the gt logo in the center. box the psu comes in was sealed never been opened along with the instructions sealed, sticker unbroken.

Probably someone that bought it and never used it, there's people like that ^^

Good deal ^^

I got my first wheel as part of a bundle with GT3 or GT4, not sure which. Tried it out and hated it, threw it in a closet and forgot about it.

I played about as much GT4 as I could. I could never pass that last license test. (The one where you follow the pace car around Nurburgring.) So I threw GT4 in the closet and forgot about it.

In the mean time I played NFS hot pursuit (PC version) online with a friend of mine in Austin, He used a wheel and always bragged about how smooth his driving was compared to mine with a gamepad controller. I maintained that being able to turn the wheel from lock to lock with a small thumb movement gave me the advantage. In the actual racing though we were about equally matched.

One day I was missing El Capitan (still am :() so I dragged out GT4 and started playing again. I tried again to pass the Nurburgring test with no luck.

One day I decided to dig deeper into my closet and pulled out the wheel. I spent the afternoon running the Sunday Cup races until I felt comfortable with it. I got to the point to where I was actually driving and not gaming.

I went back to Nurburgring and passed the test the first time I tried it. I’ve been hooked on using a wheel ever since.

Have been putting in laps on the nurburg and slowly but surely am getting faster and faster. I started off a lot slower than with the ds3 but I find myself hitting the apex more often, the 900 degree steering is taking a lot of getting used too, the only steering wheel I've ever used before was the xbox 360 racing wheel from Microsoft but the dfgt is a step above and beyond that.

There is a reason your real car is outfitted with a wheel and not a joypad ;)

When I got my driving seat properly made (2X4's, a car seat from my wife's old minivan, etc) I was amazed at how much more fun the game is. I've been playing more now than ever. Just got it set up about two months ago.

Whatever you do do not be tempted back to the pad because your lap times are a little lower at first, stick with it, in no time the rewards other than it simply being more fun will be evident !!!!

P.S. a few tips, even though it has 900 deg of movement you dont need anywhere near it all, try to turn the wheel as little as possible as over turning is a common mistake while your still adapting to it that will give you extra tyre wear and slow lap times.

Also practicing drifting with it because at first catching big slides with a wheel is the tricky bit, u need to be quick at catching em!. it will mean you are ready to recover when you lose the tail racing.

Once you go wheel you never go back. Well actually I switch back and forth just because when I'm on my wheel I get loud and I disturb everyone in the house so when it gets late I go ds3 just to keep the peace.

Don't mean to sound like a prick but, its used. Cash converters is a buy and sell place. Also, the G27 isn't an official wheel so the GT sticker wouldn't be on there. I bougsht mine brand new from future shop and it didn't have any GT stickers. Also, just because something has twist ties on it, doesn't mean it's new.

Congrats in your purchase though!

He bought a DFGT. Check out the first post.

The xbox wheel is a joke. I returned it 3 days after I got it.

Glqd to see you're enjoying the wheel. The DFGT wae also my starting wheel. When you decide to go for a h shifter and clutch wheel, that's when things get really good.

im well aware of what cash converters is, i got a DFGT not a g27, i was on about the protective plastic on the gt logo in the middle of the wheel, the box was sealed like new, the items inside were sealed like new, this wheel has never been played with, you can tell. i know its technically 2nd hand as its come from cash converters but the wheel is new. thanks am loving the wheel though. ive found myself going slower to go quicker if that makes any sense to anyone, its working for me though. i wanna get a seat set up so badly but the missus is having none of it for the moment.

Really enjoying the lack of RSI in my thumb [from using Square and X ] and being able to counter steer exactly how much I need with the wheel.

So jelly of you getting a wheel at half the price.

i must admit the callous on my left thumb is appreciating the wheel lol as are my wrists. it was one of them right place right time moments, dont come along to often though...

I think there are a lot of people who never get over the learning curve of the wheel and sell them without using them much. I used an app that scans Craigs list and waited until one came up for cheap, got it under half price and was pretty obviously not used much.

Nice. Get used to it and from here to one year think about upgrade it for something like a G27 (it is going to be cheaper) or if you can find a good deal "like this one" in a Thrustmaster T500RS (but it is not going to be so cheap) then you are going to be 10+ times amazed than you are now.

Better wheel even better experience. I started in GT4 with a Driving Force Pro (new at release, also with GT logo) and then went for a G27 (one month after release) and the difference was huge.
And people (some friends) who are going from a G25/27 to a Thrustmaster T500RS also are having the same experience. Not only with GT5 in all simulators on PC of course. As myself, i play rFactor/2 and some more.

Enjoy it.

cheers man, hopefully im gonna get a seat and stand set up, then i may invest in a g27 or a t500rs but not until later in the year when ive got some money to waste.

Don't know if you use any driving aids, but once you've got the hang of the wheel try ditching them.

I'm not a driving aids snob btw and I'm an average driver, but I can't emphasise enough how much more involving it is once you get rid of TC and ABS. Ive improved my techniques so much, especially trail braking- with ABS I was lazy and just stomped the pedal, but now I'm actually better into a corner. Different game.

Don't want to turn this into a driving aids argument either!

Good luck.

I have to say my t500rs setup was the best purchase I ever made:

T500RS (F1)
T8RS
Playseat SV

Woodski_427

Nah the only driving aid I use is the auto gearbox, I'm working on getting fast then ill switch to manual shifting

Yeah keep with it. I hated my wheel until I got used to it and now I won't ever go back to a DS3.

Don't worry, you'll find some new places for callouses soon enough. :)

Great find on the wheel by the way. Enjoy!
