i HATE steam.

i cant even play multiplayer counterstrike it sucks so bad.

I love Steam. It had some teehing problems, but I have had no problems with it for ages. It's a great concept. Quick, easy way to purchase games (I uploaded HL2 at speeds anywhere between 500kb/s to 2MB/s), instant updates, and it's also a good method to promote lesser known mods (I found out about The Battlegrounds mod through steam, as did many other gamers). Give steam a chance. I know it had it's problems in the beginning, but Valve has fixed most, if not all of those problems.

I installed it once, It kept crashing and ****ing me off, since then It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It doesn't matter if anyone gets it 3 or 4 days early, Half Life 2 won't be unlocked on steam till the actual street date(16/11/04).

Yes, many EB jobs was lost because this early release (not sure about best buy).

Theres a very very interesting article on the development of HL2 at Gamespot if anyones interested. Its very long (25 pages) but If you into HL2 or even not I highly recomeent reading it 👍.

WHAT THE HELL?!!?!? The review came in by Gamespot on HALF LIFE 2 and they gave it a 9.2. WTF it should have been a 9.7 or sumthing . they rated it lower then HALO 2 . Damn reviewers it should have been higher. THis is supposed to be a masterpiece game. I never like Gamespot reviews anyway. I'm still getting the game of course

I don't understand why Steam did not install HL2 in the 7 phases like it was supposed to, now I have to do it all at once and it is taking forever. In more than an hour I've gone less than 10 percent. I'm at 33 now. I won't make it in time for release even if I leave my computer on all night. Actually I might... we'll see.

MistaX got his copy for FREE. It's the 90$ one, too... He didn't pirate it. He just has some "hook-ups" withs ome dudes at Best Buy. The bastid. :\

Heh, so did I. However, I received the Bronze(HL2 and CS:S only) version through Steam with my ATI HL2 voucher. I plan to buy a hard copy eventually for so I have physical copy/another license to use in case I need it.

Gamespot are a bunch of console fanboys. If I remember correctly, their coverage of E3 2004 made it look like HL2 was not even there, despite it being one of the highlights of the show.

Yeah I hate gamespot, I'll never go there again or trust anything they print. IGN is the only review site I pay attention too.

I just hated how long i had to wait in getting into my account and also opening the hl2 content, it took forever. Must be because so many people tried to log in

I would wait until the Ques have died down a bit, and so once you have signed in your account online, then you will have no problems accessing the game as normal afterwards?
So say my Internet went down for a while, i could still play the game?
