Once you have activated and suscribed you CD Key, you can play offline (pull out your phone line if you wish) all you want.

I've been playing mine offline for awhile now. When I ran steam I clicked work offline in the menu. Worked for me?

Well I just finished HL2, very impressed.

Time to go through again :)

Never had any issues with Steam.I must be one of the lucky few or so it seems.Anyway,i ain't that far in the game but i just got iced by that helicopter(the first one you encounter).I couldn't find any route to continue so i just hid behind objects and used up all my pistol ammo trying to bring it down but in the end he killed me.
I'm about 1 hour in the game and i just went through the railroad section. Now i'm stuck.

Ive been watching trailers and reviews of this game for the past few days and it just looks incredible! I might have to get this after christmas!
Looks like a great FPS with lots of strategy.
Here is a video of the action right from game trailers.com
This video is seveal different scenes from the game. About 11min long. HL2 Gameplay

Well,i just finished it.It's an awesome game.I'll definetly go thru it again. The Combine Citadel isn't what i expected it to be.Turned out to be much better. And it's huuuuuge.I hope VALVe doesn't take too long to bring out Half Life 3.I want to know who the G-man really is.

I have to agree, the Citadel levels really blew me away, just from the sheer size of the place! The ending did leave me feeling a little empty though, but hopefully expansion packs will help solve some unanswered questions before HL3 comes out, whenever that may be (it is in development though, Valve is going to make a HL3).

Dont ya just love the blue manipulator gun :), so much fun!

That gun owns all! That was probably the most fun in the game, rampaging through the Citadel pwning anyone who would cross your path!

Here's a shot of my friend posing for the picture:

Awesome setup Pako, I'd never be able to get used to playing on a tv.

I'm still working out the ergonomics of it, but it's pretty cool. I have noticed that my eyes fatigue faster, probably do to the lower refresh rates. It does add more 'realism' to it though... (now if I could just get my hands on GT4 - :grumpy: )

Peace!

Excellent pic Pako! 👍 That would be amazing to play a computer game on a big screen tv like that.

What does it take to hook a PC to a regular tv? I heard someone say something about it when I was at Best Buy but at the time I wasnt listening because it wasnt something I thought id be interrested in. Now that I saw Pako's pics, I AM interrested.
Another question. What controllers do you use for HL2? or just the keyboard?

For a usable system using your TV as a monitor, your monitor really needs to be compatible. I have mine hooked up via a DVI connection. Notice the custom resolution of 1304x734. I had to create a custom monitor driver and resolution setting using a program called Power Strip. I also had to access the TV's service menu and adjust the over scan to achieve almost a 1:1 pixel relationship. Some TV's will work right out of the box, others will not. Some, like my Sony, will take some serious tweaking to get it working correctly. Check out www.avsforum.com and their HTPC section for a list of compatible HDTV's to do what your talking about. I have hooked up PC's to 'regular' TV's using a S-Video cable, but the quality was too poor to even consider using that as a configuration.

I have a Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse. This gives me about 30 feet of wireless freedom.

~Cheers

Just finished the game lastnight! What an awesome game..... Can't wait for other games to come out using it's engine! CS: Source is alright, but I'm hoping for more detail, time, and effort like what was put into HL2. Other than smoke and water effects, I didn't notice much difference with HL1: Source.

T/Y for the info Pako. 👍 If I get HL2 soon then I will see what I can do. THis would give me a good excuse to get a new and bigger TV.

I ordered Half Life 2 and the Evga 6800 ultra and should be here tomorrow or Thursday, sure hope the dude got the box with Alyx on it for me lol ^ ^
