Early on when I got my Legendary Edition delivered, to my shock I found out my two bonus discs were missing. However, instead of me getting my two bonus discs, I got two copies of the game. :(

I heard in the review that it only saves replay data temporarily... Anybody know what the deal is with that? Or is there something in the manual that tells you how to save it permanently?

Well, I played a match and messed with the the Save Game feature for a while, then turned my system off to bring the game back to my apartment. I just turned it back on and it's still there, so I think you're good.

Went to Best Buy to pick up my preorder - opened my copy in-store and lo and behold, the dreaded scratches. She nicely took it back right away and found me another copy, which thankfully was fine.

Got back and loaded it up on my 50" screen, and it was freakin' beautiful. I didn't expect it to match Gears of War in terms of intensity, but it really does. I'm just loving it so far.

My brother called after he got home and opened the Collectors Edition that we bought and the game disc was slightly scratched/smudged, but thus far, it hasn't caused any problems playing in the X360.

I know you can on yourself but I didn't even attempt on other players.

I think the Halo 3 sniper feel is different I could only guess. Halo 2 I struggle to no end to kill people with the UNSC Sniper on say... Zanzibar. My friend well, he completely destroys people on any level but for the sake of the example Zanzibar is no exception. Now I just played a game of BTB on Last Resort (revamped version of Zanzibar no?) I had the UNSC Snipe and he did as well and everyone I saw I at least killed with 2 bodyshots. I might have been lucky but according to him he couldn't hit crap that round and I ended up with a killing frenzy from just sniping with it. Could have just been a case of coincidence with luck and bad luck. *shrug* But I still am liking the feel of the H3 aiming system as opposed to H2, feels smoother I think. 👍

Got my LE copy today, and found that same scratched disc problem and a beat up case. But the game plays fine! And I love Multiplayer a lot.

However, I find it annoying I can't join into a random Co-Op game like I could with GoW.

I hadn't had it the last few times I was matchmaking but before that I couldn't matchmake because of some kind of error with the Halo 3 servers, and before I signed off twice the party I was in was split up in some way during the matchmaking before the map was selected. :indiff: Slight mishap though hopefully they'll straighten it out.

Thus far the great thing about online is that most folks don't know whats going on... We're all kinda new, working out the kinks, and it feels pretty good. I'm looking forward to the coming weeks and months, this game rocks!

I'm not calling myself good but it seems there are a ton of new people to the game or lots of people just aren't used to the game because lots of times I was in situations in which in Halo 2 I would have been dead in a second but somehow worked my way out of the situation. :odd: I'm sure it will be just like Halo 2 in player difficulty in a few weeks though.

Probably. My guess is that a lot of us are having some skillz izzues, and we're all a bit rusty. I know it took me quite a while to get used to re-loading with the RB, switching grenades with LB, etc. I still haven't figured out how to use the "tools" to the best of their ability.

Give me a week or so and I should be up to speed... Its only been out for a day, and thus far, its been great...

This game has some seriously detailed texture work and ****ing awesome Bnet integration. Wow.

Also, Tsavo Highway = utterly beautiful. This game isn't an upscaled Halo 2.

Haha, well I bought it. Came home, put it in my 360, got to the main menu, and my 360 went 3 red rings of death hahaha. Tomorrow I call for the casket.

Man and I thought I was having tough luck. I can't play it right now because the TV i was playing it on starting sparking in the back (old ass tv) and the one in my room I can't reach the ethernet cable to my room. :grumpy: And the tv I usually play it on downstairs is being used to watch a movie. :indiff: But that's a better situation then a dead 360.

Its all good though. I borrowed my neighbors, then I went to my other neighbors and played it on his 1080P Mitsubishi 65' plasma. Im really not that upset about it haha.

From what I've seen (not played the game yet), I am not all that impressed with the graphics. Many parts of the envornment seem lower-res, and the jaggies are everywhere. It's no where as crisp as Gears of War or Bioshock. Good water effects and lighting though - maybe later scenes in lighter areas look better.

Looks like great fun though...

The thing is, once you start playing it you stop caring about if the graphics are as good as X game, because you're too busy having a blast.

Exactly. When I first started the campaign I thought to myself "hey, this just looks like a revamped Halo 2." Now I could care less.

My friend got hit hard with this.

His bro had to wait for him to get home with it, and after 30 minutes, they got the Red Ring of Death....So, now he'll probably be over here playing it.

G.T

What levels have you seen? IMO, the first one looks decent, the second is the definition of "mehtastic", but the third and fourth levels (I'm starting on 5 now) are utterly gorgeous. The fourth level felt pretty epic as well.

I do wish the game ran at 60fps, though. Playing Call of Duty 4 and even Metroid Prime 3 in comparison to this took a lot of getting used to. It probably doesn't help it stutters a decent amount as well (probably because of the seamless loading). The motion blur really needs to be less subtle.

I think the game overall looks great, but it's not the best in comparison to BioShock, Gears, Uncharted, and Call of Duty 4 beta, IMO.

What's with everyone getting the ring of death around now? That must suck.

I've seen the 1st and 3rd. The 3rd definitely looks better, but the jaggies in the distance are quite exsessive.

But like people have said, it's so fun it doesn't matter all that much.

Microsoft built it in to the non-scratched Halo 3 discs so that enough people would be waiting on a replacement of either a disc or a system that the servers wouldn't be overloaded. :D

Really it might just be more people are mentioning it since this was a highly anticipated moment for them and when it happened they complained when they would have otherwise maybe said nothing or mentioned it in passing. Since this is why many bought the system, or was a highly anticipated moment for it, the reaction is stronger than if it had been while trying to play Geometry Wars.

Really? It runs like a rock for me. That's what I think is most important - the game is incredibly robust, but (for me at least) it's a really solid performer, technically.

Something like Lair might have looked better, but from what I saw it runs like hell technically - tearing, chugging, etc.

Hol-lee-****. Halo 3 garners over $170 million dollars in sales over the first 24 hours, breaking the record (again).

Xbox 360 Exclusive “Halo 3” Registers Biggest Day in US Entertainment History with $170 Million in Sales

Microsoft today announced that the Xbox 360 exclusive game “Halo 3” has officially become the biggest entertainment launch in history, garnering an estimated $170 million in sales in the United States alone in the first 24 hours. The Xbox 360 title beat previous records set by blockbuster theatrical releases like “Spider-man 3” and novels such as [“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

“Halo 3” is the conclusion to the epic trilogy and picks up where “Halo 2” left off, answering questions around the fates of the beloved protagonist Master Chief and his artificial intelligence sidekick Cortana as they struggle to save humankind from destruction at the hands of the alien coalition known as the Covenant. In addition to the rich storyline, “Halo 3” continues the franchise’s grand tradition of delivering innovative online multiplayer experiences via Xbox LIVE, the world’s largest social network on TV.

“Halo 3 has become a pop-culture phenomenon,” said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. “Not only is “Halo 3” setting sales records, it’s also redefining entertainment.

Within the first 20 hours alone, we’ve seen more than a million Xbox LIVE members come online to play Halo 3 – that makes September 25 the most active Xbox LIVE gaming day in history.”

Retailers have also expressed their excitement about the launch of “Halo 3.”

Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for GameStop Corp commented that, “With consumer demand for Halo 3 and related products, we expect it to be the biggest video game title generator in GameStop's history."

“The initial demand we’ve seen for ‘Halo 3’ has been astounding, and the game is on track to become the number one gaming title of all time. ‘Halo 3’ is a genuine entertainment phenomenon and our customers have responded very enthusiastically to the release,” said Jill Hamburger, vice president of movies and games at Best Buy.

Developed by Bungie Studios, the “Halo” franchise is exclusive to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system and optimized for the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network. The more than 7 million Xbox LIVE users will get a continually evolving gaming experience with “Halo 3.” Its online multiplayer and cooperative gameplay for Xbox LIVE Gold users, the much-talked-about Saved Films feature that enables players to capture and save their favorite moments on their hard drives, and Forge, an innovative map editor that enables infinite customization options are just some of the new features to experience.

More than 10,000 retailers hosted Midnight Madness events to celebrate the launch of this third installment in the billion-dollar franchise. In New York, Seattle, Miami and Los Angeles, Microsoft and retail partners hosted marquee launch events that featured contests and appearances by local celebrities and professional athletes who are fanatical about the “Halo” franchise, including Ludacris and Zac Efron and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates.

More than 1.7 million copies of “Halo 3” were preordered in the United States before a single store opened its doors at midnight, Sept. 25, making this the fasting pre-selling game in history, surpassing the previous record-setting pre-sales of “Halo 2.” Well beyond just a U.S. phenomenon, the launch of “Halo 3” was a worldwide celebration that released in 37 countries and available in 17 languages.

And they keep on saying there won't be a Halo 4. Yeah, right.

Has anyone else found the singleplayer to be a bit short and relatively not all that smooth? It seems to jump from topic to topic relatively quick, and seems to lack some progression that existed in the previous versions. :(

I've been also pondering the re-creation of the story line for both Halo 1 and 2. Would anyone else think that a graphically updated version of those two games, would be some AWESOME fun? :)

I wouldn't be surprised if that was Bungie's next project.
